@@user-crane They don't even need to make just Accustrikes. Either fill the hole in the side or add a second hole. Adding a second hole would probably be the best bet so it could stay hollow and soft, but improving accuracy. Mega XL is fairly accurate, all things considered and has two holes in the head
@@dogdog357 Unfortunately, my understanding is that the hole in the head doesn't actually do much aside from letting it compress more easily. the problem is that the heads of elite darts are too light, causing a poor weight balance.
I prefer calling them watermelons as well, but I _think_ the reason they're called chili darts is because the long narrow body and short tuft of green at the end can evoke the stereotypical image of a chili pepper at the right angles.
I think there's a niche for modding these, for people who have reduced motor function. Not enough that they need something like the Prometheus' you molded years ago, with the one big "slap it" fire button, but enough that they lack the manual dexterity to use single-finger triggers and pull-primes.
I didn't even realize Elite Jr was a thing until this video, and yet these somehow appear to have better overall construction than a lot of the 2.0 series. Quite odd. No o-rings is another odd one, I haven't taken apart many blasters yet but that is one of the first times I think I've ever seen such a thing.
It was quite common in most vintage blasters. I hadn't seen it in a long time either. I assume it was a cost reduction thing as it eliminates an entire material (rubber) cost. Who knows.
@@CaptainXavier Dang, thanks for the insight and reply back, Captain! I'm very much a novice to modifications and only have a little under a dozen blasters but hasn't been something I've come across or seen discussed in detail before.
@Hans-Dieter Krebs Interesting! I'm still fairly new to modding but I did rip apart a Tiger DB-2 I got for literally a dollar at Goodwill and it (I believe?) had an o-ring for the plunger head, so seeing something with no o-rings definitely caught me off guard. My collection is miniscule as well, so that doesn't help I guess. lol
One thing I noticed recently is the nerf gel blasters are in the toys, but the other brands that only do them are over in the locked case with the bb guns
Yes Im glad this is black now I can see what blasters I can get for modding. Nerf will never leave me. This hobby is here to stay forever. I would really like to see K26 episodes for the Fortnite, Minecraft, Some new Dinosqaud, Elite 2.0 and Roblox blasters as well as rare blasters like the Brainsaw.
I have a suggestion for a set, the realistic shotgun type on Amazon I have the m1887 and loving the way it operates but I'm wondering could it be upgraded?
Now I see that the drop-in K26 is the hot mod and all, but have you done research into progressive springs? More often used in suspension but could improve priming "feel" while still getting the final energy? Also, have you experimented with stretching stock springs? Sometimes its great! others, not so much - and I don't know why.
No. It is not nearly solid enough for that. You would need to fabricate a whole new plunger if you wanted to do that. The seal is actually not bad, surprisingly.
Perhaps someone here can help me. There is a very particular blaster I'm looking for from my childhood. I think it was like a Maverick, but it was teal and I think it had a yellow cylinder. Any ideas? This would've been in 07/08 at the latest.
You speak of barrels being too short for the spring power, but how can you tell? Is there a technique (other than trial and error) in determining the correct barrel length-to-spring power ratio?
You can tell because of how erratic the darts fly. This is a result of excess air pressure hitting the back of the dart after it leaves the barrel and throwing it off. Trial and error is pretty much the only option.
Yeah, I ordered all the rival blasters that I have not done yet...but accidentally shipped them to North Carolina. I live in Washington. Mistakes were made.
Some of the new nerf blasters are garbage with no O-ring to seal the plunger. I k26'd my Fortnite 1911 blaster & only got 90fps because it has no air seal
Well, early episodes had 4 blasters per episode. Later, I reduced it to 2 blasters per episode. I have never repeated a blaster and there are still many blasters I have not done. So...yes.
The gratest show of all time is back!
WhOOOOOOooooooo!!!
Yes gratest definitely not greatest
🤓🤓🤓
Luke is truly a master of words.
Yes he is! 🤣🤣
Initial FPS testing
Me: jeez he could throw the dart farther
Capt Xavier: throws the dart
nice to still see this venerable series going when possible.
I LOVE the "Word from our sponsor" - the only channel I look forward to ad breaks!
The episode I did not know I needed, but absolutely burst out cackling when I saw it in my feed. :D
I feel like the upgraded pistol at the range with the chili/watermelon darts make it quite obvious how much hasbro needs to improve the elite darts.
I wonder why didn't Accustrike become the new standard dart?
@@user-crane yeah, i'm curious how much their darts cost to produce

Rambler sure is pretty
looks like the grip is a separate shell assembly, so potentially could replace it with a larger one....

So, it went from self-tagger, to Jolt fips with K26 and no air restrictor?
Ok, I can see it be used as a hold-out blaster, or for silly loadouts.
More fun for everyone. Thanks for inviting a friend. Thanks for coming out Dustin.
More success than some regular blasters flabbergasted.
That external rotation mechanism is super cool looking!
the colors of the Jr blasters reminds me of nickelodean and that makes me happy :)
This is the one I was actually interested because the big priming handles.
I agree cap, “watermelon darts” definitely sounds better in my opinion
I'm shocked it's not solvent welded.
Reminds me of the pancor jackhammer, or the nagant revolver

I am so glad to see the return of this show. Bangarang!
This is great to see! I was tempted to open mine and… maybe living vicariously through you is enough for me haha. Awesome video.
One thing I noticed recently is the nerf gel blasters are in the toys, but the other brands that only do them are over in the locked case with the bb guns
I like "watermelon" too. I guess "chili" was shorter with less syllables to say faster... Yosh...
I would say for the Rambler. I would take the dartpost out to make it half dart and then brass the barrels.
I love this, and I wondered about these blasters. Great episode!
Ah yes - Captain 'Dainty Finger' Xavier. Don't forget the name!
Two videos in one day! Awesome. Thank you capt
This was informative and entertaining at parts! I THANK YOU!!!!!!!🎉
I was very curious about this. Thank you for this episode!
Ave mon capitain. Thank you for this great video. These blasters realy look like fun... for the kids. 😁
Better plastic because they are made for little kids who are going to drop them and throw them around.
A WELCOME SURPRISE

What a great episode! 😄 More dustin! Hes cool!
5 y/old kid: wants to go to nerf war with other kids who also has nerf jr blaster
his blaster: has k26 spring
Yeah I was actually going to do this to my 4 year olds blaster…😅
The Rambler actually looks pretty good for what it is.
Captain, I know this is a very old video, did you do a K 26 episode on the mediator?
Yes. Episode 55.
@@CaptainXavier thank you
Stock Rambler is just shy of stock Elite which is a surprise
As dumb as the idea of Nerf Junior is, I gotta admit, I am very much in love with the shell of the Rambler.
yay new family blaster, must be a proud papa over at out of darts :)
When in doubt pinky out.

i have just found my new awfuls primaries
Would it be possible to use a lathe to make a groove into the plunger head for an o-ring?
No. It is not nearly solid enough for that. You would need to fabricate a whole new plunger if you wanted to do that. The seal is actually not bad, surprisingly.
@@CaptainXavier That's disappointing but not unexpected.

Sounds like a blue Maverick. Might help if you define the time frame of your childhood.
@@CaptainXavier 07-08 at the latest
Then it was probably a sun faded blue Maverick. Or some off brand thing no one knows the name of.
FINALLY ITS BACK

It's kind of a shame they don't have a line of older-kid/adult blasters that use this same friendly aesthetic. It looks really nice.
It really is built strong af. Heavy plastic.. absolutely no range/power. Kids will easily get frustrated how short these darts fall
There must b a significant amount of time and effort to produce these things; think about it
Can you do the x shot crusher?
Have your K26 the Adventure Force Jurassic Pro Tranquilizer Blaster? im kinda wondering about it ....i dont have high hopes but meh lol
I have not. I never picked up one of those.
@@CaptainXavier yeah Idk if they are worth that price either just to test. Any way keep up the cool videos.
I kinda like the aesthetic maybe cram a more powerful blaster inside?
What a strange thing to see, a k26ed blaster shooting under 70 fps.
Hopefully nerf keeps all their stupidly tiny grips and short stocked blasters in this series and keeps stuff for an older audience in the other series
abundant
I find it funny the fly just got standard fps with a k26
imagine a child with one of these with k26 just desinetgrating other infants
A child would not be able to prime it. Dustin had trouble priming it.
@@CaptainXavier oh yea i completely forgot that children are weaker than adults
@tetros2064 Now, if an adult primed it for them and then turned them loose on the other infants, that would be another story entirely. ;P

Can the rival pilot take a k26?
Yeah, I ordered all the rival blasters that I have not done yet...but accidentally shipped them to North Carolina.

@@CaptainXavier oh no, I once did that when ordering pizza, I told the delivery guy to keep the pizza and that I was sorry
I've done that too. Sent a pizza to am apartment I hadn't lived at for like 8 years...
@@CaptainXavier it was a hotel I had stayed at when I was visiting the Carolinas for a con...
If they are "making elite blasters for kids".... why make a junior line?
I suspect they were either marketing really young kids or kids with disabilities. Since either might have trouble using a regular blaster
we need a xavier jr load out lol
omg yes. if the captain has nieces or nephews and a few of those children's vests, upgraded junior blasters and "war" footage lol
I have no nieces or nephews. A fact that is increasingly frustrating for my mother...
@@CaptainXavier lol fair enough, time to reactivate the unit responsible for being the vanguard to the owen tank, or their younger siblings

I think you should do a drop test and see how well these hold up to physical abuse.
LOL YES!
the flyer is the new jolt with out the upgrade lol

I disagree but thats me
I can see dislikes for somereason
