He always messes up the test then blames the product...
Ive seen chimps put shapes in the correct corresponding hole yet a late-middle aged man can't put flour in a bottle without losing half.
dude who cant draw with this thing complaining that it wont let him draw with it lol
I will forever be entertained by the sheer number of products designed to do things that are already the simplest things ever. It's a pancake dude, not beef wellington.
He is to stupid to use that thing, and its not just meant to simply make pancakes
This guy looks like one of those infomercial actors failing miserably at performing simple tasks. Unfortunately he wasn't joking.
You did it wrong you were supposed to mix the batter until it was pourable and then add it to the pen
I have used this product before it works! Your batter is too runny!!!!
Cooking With Jack Show , Can you please re-do this product and NOT make your batter so runny? This was unfair and I think everyone would appreciate it. You simply made a mistake and probably made hundreds of people not buy this amazing product.
just use a ketchup bottle
Isaac Duncan Nope.avi
Use big scoop. 5% mess.
100% percent Ketchup wasted.
i can’t imagine the bottle makes the batter runny. i suspect he doesn’t know how to make pancakes
Dry ingredients are measured different just sayin
Its not the bottles fault for the mix being runny. If you add less watsr your mix will be thicker.trust me i know i love thick fluffy pancakes lol.. the recipie just wants you to streatch and have their mix for a long lasting time. Buy if you use less water you'll have thicker pancakes. The bottle is just releasing whats inside so its the recipies fault for runny pancakes..
Too runny, then add less water. lol Those look closer to crepes than pancakes. :P
nambinhvu yeah your right and maybe add 1 egg for better texture...
Mix the batter in a bowl then put a funnel in the pancake pen and fill. I use a wide mouth funnel like the ones for canning jars. It's less messy.
For those of you who want this to work, make your batter a little thicker, as well as mix it before pouring it in. A homemade thick mixture works perfectly for these things, as well as using a nice hot stove.
After he figured out the original batter was too thin, he made it two more times and it was still too watery. I was disappointed he didn’t try 1 final time and still not just use less water lol.
Try a plain old squeeze bottle with a thinner tip for better accuracy and less frustration :)
@TOXICFLOWZSHOW thanks. I will keep it going.
You spilled the powder, so you added too much water.
You could use those ketchup squeeze bottles and also, try using a different recipe that makes to batter thick.
That's why you just make pancake batter yourself instead of using a boxed mix, literally one of the easiest things ever
@josep3r3z if you measure solids by volume, then it doesn't matter. It only matters for Measuring cups when the solids are measured by weight (some measurement cups also have a scale for weight on them)
@frogoftoob I totally agree with you. I even thickened the batter the second time and it still failed
I don't understand why he didn't just make a pancake batter from a box and put it in there, usually those recipes are nice and thick
@sk8erguy552 no. sorry. Not a tradition in my house. I will take a listen.
@MooseOfReason those bottles (the ones you see in restaurants and such things, not the ones you actualyl buy ketchup in) are what we used for things like this in the kitchen. They are about 2-4 Bucks each and they last forever.
@MooseOfReason
probably because the nozzle is much smaller than the Pancake Pen from the looks of it.
I have a hunch that there's a rubber gasket in the Pancake Pen that controls how well the batter comes out (just like the rubber gasket on a bottle of Powerade drink).
@Msjanedoe124 The batter was made correctly according to the box. So your saying that millions of boxes around America are wrong. Wow. I should alert the media.
That number two was perfect before you went back. Also, how about trying to stop squeezing the tube. Don't blame the pen for thin batter! Blame the batter, duh!!
he uses this batter for a lot of recipes and its worked perfectly like in the perfect pancake pan review, and if he doesn't squeeze only a couple of drops would pour out, and since he had no control what so ever on the pen stability on how much batter to pour its not his fault at all,its the pens fault.
Muhammad Ikram the consistency of the batter thickness however is his fault and he used a pre-made batter from a box
@Evaporatorification
He bought it at Ross. Company didn't send him anything, you gotta pay more attention and quit being a hater, he has the right to express his opinion.
I know someone who has this and they've never mixed their batter inside of the pen- they just pour in the batter after making it in a bowl and the pen writes fine, and there are no clumps.
Let the pancake mix rest for about 5 minutes in a warm spot, like on top of the refrigerator, it should thicken. Also, I always put more mix than the box calls for in the mix to water ratio. Best way to get pancake shapes in to make the pancakes large and then use cookie cutters to get the shapes you want.
You can do the same pancake pen thing with your sons gatorade bottle and just make it in the bowl
I don't want to put this video down more than it has already been put down but when it comes to pancakes the box directions always make a runny pancake. Instead eyeball it and make it thick, if it's still runny just add more pancake mix. Then it will work perfectly. Love your videos, its addictive.
"It doesn't write real well." YOU don't write real well. YOU can't make batter. & YOU can't hold the damn thing right.
No he used the wrong measuring utensils to measure his ingredients, he measured the dry mix with a liquid measuring cup when he should've used a dry measuring cup. Liquid always retains the shape of the container
I just made mine in a bowl and poured it in and made shapes. It’s fun with kids really! FYI if you haven’t made ricotta homemade pancakes you are missing out. I also use it for my waffles but u have yo make homemade and make it in a bowl first
I think it would work better with a thicker batter, thats mixed in a bowl, then poured into the pen! Thanks for doing the review!
you should have either reduced the water add to the dry ingredients or added more dry to the water... with pancake batter you dont have to have exact measurements. its about how you want the pancakes to turn out.. the product you reviewed does work. its the batter..
The bottle is a bit big for properly drawing. When I do shapes I use a chocolate melt bottle, it's a lot smaller and easier to control in the hand.
If I may interject, Jack. Have you tried using eggs in the mixture? that usually provides the thick texture you were going for.
@Msjanedoe124 That might be a fair point, except that he followed the pancake batter recipe. If you have to alter the recipe just to use the product properly, then that is a problem.
Hello
Your batter mix is to runny that is down to how you made it.
I would have tried it pre-mixed with less water or even made from scratch then put into the container
Andy C
quick tip to get powders into small holes get a sheet of a4 paper fold in half pour some powder onto it. then it should slide in easily. used to do this trick to get nesquik powder into milk.
I'd like to understand how this is Jack's fault, as it's being claimed in other comments??? If he followed the directions on the batter box; as you can clearly HEAR him doing, it then becomes a matter of trial by error. Not his fault the pancake mix isn't as thick as some people like it to be.
Yes the batter itself is a problem as the pen is designed to work with a thicker batter than this one provides. The other issue that I noticed with his review verses others that I've watched is that he is holding it much too far up off of the surface, which allows the batter to drip more randomly than he would like, just as if you were to hold a fountain pen just barely on the surface, not providing any pressure or true guidance, the ink goes everywhere.
Agreed.
It's not the pen's fault it's runny, that's practically impossible
hey Jack if you want to do a life hack, keep empty Ketchup Bottles and clean them out real well and stor pancake mix in there and you can make it as thick as you want
hey that's a good idea! I'm going to try that!
@jaguar1410 and it still can be a problem with the pancake mix itself. It looks too runny. And if thats the case, then its not the fault of the Pencake Pen Product
Shame it didnt work, looked cool.
Would it be possible to see how well the cover does whilst its pouring with rain? Just to get the full effect.
ive used it before and it is good, it is only bad because you made the batter too runny, and it depends on how steady your hand is. after 2 or three tries, i could draw pretty good numbers and stuff.
Jack have you tried streamlining the process by boiling it? Like the entire pen?
the batter you are supposed to use is krusteaz. I have the same product and it works great
A tip: Buy a shaker for mixing workout supplements. The opening is a bit bigger, but it has a filter that should fix the mixing problem.
Your best bet is to get one of those sauce bottles and do shapes that way! The hole on that is too big hence why it just falls out!
It would probably help if it had one of those pressure squirter things, like the stopper in a Gatorade bottle. Doesn't open unless you suck on it, so it doesn't drip.
Would't it be better to use a funnel to pour the powder?
Good for making funnel cake?
@nickmich1001 Actually, it is possible for the runny batter to be the products fault. Since it says you can make the batter in the actual bottle, it probably wont have the same effect as wisking the batter together in a separate bowl. So no, it doesnt have to be his fault.
Good pancake dispensers go for $50 up, but none of them recommend mixing the batter in the dispenser for just the reason you discovered. And anyway, to get good pancakes you should be using eggs, milk, flour (of some kind), and baking powder, not mix.
it would work if you make the batter alot thicker and mix it before you pour it in the pen you should eye it instead of what it says on the box of pancake box i always do this and they come out fine
@jakatak69 Actually, and this is true. Most companies make a product, like batter mix, for years, even decades. Formulas slightly change, product quality and sources change. And they still have the same directions on those products. By recent tests it was shown that approximately 80% of instructions on such products are actually not correct anymore (they might have been in the past)
Temperatures, times, measurements. In most products at least one of those is wrong. Tested by trained chefs.
it's nice to see at least one person is polite on youtube
@babo1bear The point wasn't how "good" his letters came out.. he was never bummed or upset about that. He only talked about the product, and I believe that it was a fair representation. His main point was that the batter was far too runny, because it wasn't mixing well. And even when he pre-mixed it in the bowl, it still came out runny when he put it in the pancake pen. He's using it like anybody else would for the first time... he's just showing you his opinion.
@iPhTx3 Be that as it may with the batter not being thick enough the pen stated you could mix it inside the unit but failed to do that. The writing capabilities could have been better if the mix was thicker but he followed the directions for the pancake batter. It may state on the pen that you have to have the batter thicker but if it does not state that, it is the product's fault for bein misleading.
I bought one it was cheap. It was so fun we made shapes etc. we didn’t need it but to be fair it was actually lots of fun. I make hearts for my husband sometimes for breakfast with strawberries.
maple syrup, you just want to make it a bit more runny. add the sticks and wait. taste till you get the flavour you like. From there you can try something like stuffed french toast (with peaches) and a spiced maple syrup this time with cloves. Trust me it works
i have this same pen and i use bisquick pancake mix. it is a little thicker than most batters and works great with my pen.
when he pours the batter to make the number one you can hear him slightly say " awwww its too fuckin runny" hahahah love this show
Thank you for showing me about that I was wondering how it would work.
Seems like it would be way easier to just make the batter as normal in a 4 cup measuring cup then pour it from the measuring cup into the pancake pen.
I usually used homemade pancake batter but I mix it in my blender and then let it sit for about 10 minutes before I attempt to make the actual pancakes. This gives it time to develop and become a little stiffer. You should try that too.
So I came to see if this would make a good fish tank filter container... I stayed to comment that his mix was simply too runny
stir the panckae mix in a bowl, and put it in an old ketchup bottle.
Hey Jak, i know one person that takes a ranch or salad dressing squeezing thing. So it works perfectly.
Hello jack why did you not put eggs and sugar in that's why it is so runny and also try replacing the water with milk maybe that will be more thicker and here is a tip put a few tespoons of vinnila eccence
Easy resolution... SHAKE N' POUR from BISQUICK! My mom and I love it
I don't think it's a fail. Hungry Jack is a thin pancake batter in general. I think you'd need a homemade pancake recipe. Also, I'd just go buy one of those squeeze bottle people use for ketchup & mustard. Mor precise bc the opening is smaller.
Plus you pour your batter or whatever you are making in a separate bowl and then pour into the pin
@MooseOfReason Yes they do that is what I use for these projects!
If you mixed the pancake batter separately, and it was still runny like that, I don't think you can mix pancake batter.
@jakatak69 I think its just a matter of preference far as the batter goes, as i said in my other comment it seems almost all premix's are more for crepe style results. I prefer my pancakes thick
you do have control over it, if its too runny add more mix, if its to thick add more water
no you are supposed to mix it in the container but he added the dry ingredients first
jack, you soo did this on purpose! you were hatin' on that pen since before you tried it. so you didnt bother to use common sense and make the batter thicker -.-
Definitely try homemade batter and not a store bought mix they are completely different from homemade and create a batter with a different consistency.
Thank you!! I have the pancake pen and it does it perfectly with my pancake batter
@nickmich1001 He followed the directions exactly, maybe doing it another way would make it work better, but the company could put the correct directions with the product.
@filbum The mix usually has buttermilk already in it.
not the best invention ever
but your amazing jack I was about to buy that but thanks to you, have told us that it doesn't work well. thanks once again jack. you and your son amazing
I think what he means is when he squeezes it all the chunky/ thicker parts of the batter stays inside the container.
I've just used a restaurant squeezy bottle to do this for years. two bucks at a restaurant shop, plus I can do different colors.
The batter needs to be thicker to do what you want it to do.
i never do it according to the box its always too runny, maybe try it making it a thicker batter?
Can you show us what pancakes look like when you're pouring them right your batter, so that we can see if it's just the batter that's runny or it's the fault of the product?
to everyone saying that it was jacks fault:If the idea of a product like this is supposed to be fun, useful, and a good idea, any random "Jack" should be able to use it easily and effectively. As for the batter, he CLEARLY showed how the device didn't mix the batter what so ever. as far as "PeterMMM" talks about it, what does the device claim to do other than mix, make pancakes and write? everything claimed was shown, and nothing worked. end of story.
for cupcakes you can use a ice cream scoop and the cupcakes all come out pretty even
@roundandround14 oh yeah he did :D I have my music running through a external mixer and can make the sound like 6 times as loud and I checked and he really does say it :D
I never liked instant pancake mix very much compared to homemade. maybe you should try using homemade pancakes?
What dirt, moreover, it does something useful?
jak I've never used this pen and would never use it, but I think that the problem is you butter and not the pen it self.. it should be thick,
