That vocal intro was 🔥. Ms. Dionne probably thinking: Let me give one jazz note and riff after another. No sweat. No pressure, lol. Catch it. Here it comes baby, lol. Only Ms. Dionne Warwick
I thought back then, and still do these many years later, having heard a number of Dionne's live performances of this song, THIS is the definitive performance! That Saturday night, with a broad ear to ear smile on my face, the house phone rang (we had landlines back then! Lol), and my friend yelled "Did you see that?!" Lol I saw it, I heard it, I felt it, I loved it!!!
"Deja Vu" is from 1979, but could be from anytime, as deja vu is a real phenomenon that many, including myself, have experienced. It has something to do with the feeling of having experienced the same experience exactly at an earlier time. I do not know how it works, but whenever it occurs, I think of Dionne Warwick and her "Deja Vu" song and how this wonderful "Solid Gold" live performance brought it out in a classy, jazzy way that is as contempirary as ever.
I will always state that "This is insane, all you did was say hello..." is one of, if not the best, opening line of any song. Its sets the mood immediately and her incredible, smooth, and effortless performance seals the deal. i love this song sooooo much, such a simple little thing it is, but SO well done. Also...that green dress is gorgeous. cheers, again, for these amazing videos. 💚💚💚
Dionne Warwick did a very jazzy version here of one of her other "comeback" hits, "Deja Vu." It was performed in a very glittery green dress that would be befitting for Saint Patrick's Day. Anyway, a very good performances that many missed when first aired. Nobody knew back then there would be a TH-cam to bring back the hits.
Ci mancherai tantissimo grande artista la tua musica ci accompagnerà tutti i giorni xsempre grande artista 🌟🌟 grande stella della bella musica 💐💐💐💐🙏🙏🙏♥️
I had meant "Deja Vu". It seems to me that deja vu is a real phenomenon, at least in my complex life. The lyrics describe as feeling like having been through parts of life as a facsimile. They got that to a T and Dionne sang it as only she could.
Actually, Déjà Vu was composed by Isaac Hayes with lyricist Adrienne Anderson. Barry Manilow was the producer of the recording, and he was the composer of 2 out of 10 of the songs on the album.
My favorite song by her

"Dena Vu", I think, is the second best only to "I'll Never Love This Way Again" from.the 1979 Dionne album.
