We need to basically gut them and start over. Ben Franklin thought the constitution should be rewritten every 20 years so that it could best serve the current generation and culture. So his design would be that millennials rewrite the Constitution. But you get my point.

By means of simple comparison revolutionary new technologies required for Saturn five were achieved subject to the predominantly nationalistic motivations of that time at unprecedented speed.
That achievement casts a deep contrast on the length of time it has taken to develop SLS subject to predominantly commercial, stimuli and begs the question "why, has that been the case"?
But who was qualified or motivated, to quantify much less question circumstances surrounding development of SLS until, the advent of SpaceX.
The team at SpaceX not only developed the predominantly reusable but phenomenally reliable and reusable Merlin engine along with Falcon9.
They have also produced and are operating Falcon heavy and both Dragon cargo and, crew certified vehicles in an unprecedentedly short period.
But SpaceX did all this at a cost so low in comparison to SLS that the latter project is nothing less than a profound embarrassment to NASA, the companies involved and a succession of US Federal administrations.
Now however SpaceX has also produced Starship and the Super Heavy booster along with the stunningly powerful yet reusable Raptor and Raptor2 engines yet SLS has still, not been adequately tested much less performed any meaningful task!
More than that the vehicles developed by SpaceX have yet again cast an even deeper contrast on SLS because the latter system is largely comprised of 'upgraded' designs from the Apollo program and surplus components from the Space Shuttle.
That process should not have taken anywhere near as long as it has to amalgamate known values into what are little more than variations on existing configurations.
Yet despite this SLS has been under development for so long now it is essentially obsolete, and has incurred such huge cost overruns it is undeniably an embarassment if not disgrace and possibly even indicative of culpable malfeasance somewhere along the line.
Could this be why NASA or whoever or whatever may be manipulating it is so persistently trying to make what has become a succession of cumulatively bad decisions right, instead of making a right decision and simply placing wholehearted support behind a company which has proven to be as exceptionally capable as SpaceX?
For all these reasons and more SLS should not have, a 'future'.

They had to have a guarantee they could get into space, anything could have happened to space X in the last 15 years and they obviously didn't want to have to continue to rely on Russia to get them into space, if nothing else it trained a generation of engineers in rocket technology

Indeed, China has always been about international cooperation. The space station is but one of many examples. Here are several others:
o BRI, or Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to help developing countries build their infrastructure and economy.
o RCEP, or Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the world's largest free trade bloc.
o BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), an emerging powerful economic alliance.
o SCO, or Shanghai Cooperation Organization, another powerful alliance.
o China helped developing countries vaccinate their population as the rich Western nations abandoned them through vaccine hoarding.
o China is pursuing diplomacy throughout the Middle East rather than bombing the shit out of the region. Recently, she signed a 25-year cooperation deal with Iran.
o China is negotiating with the Taliban instead of invading and occupying Afghanistan for 20 years.
o China is trying to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine, countries with whom China has excellent relations. What is USA doing? Sending arms to Ukraine, throwing fuel to the fire and prolonging the war.
o China hasn't fought a single war since 1979! No other major power has been so peaceful for so long.
Turn after turn, China has proven her peacefulness and benevolence.
Another excellent video, by the way.

China is negotiating with the Taliban for now. That doesn't mean that China could never find itself going into Afghanistan for one reason or another.
The United States left Afghanistan alone for over aa decade after the Soviets left. It was the 9-11 attacks which marked a radical change in US middle east /central asia policies. As a emerging global power, its going to become more and more likely that China will find itself being drawn into

The reason the Chinese are kept out is that the Chinese government does not see China as part of the international community, nor does it recognise international law. Basically it's their way or the highway.

Michael Reid is great at projection when he says that China's attitude is "Basically it's their way or the highway." when that is exactly much how the US operates. Remember Iraq? coups in South American countries? unilateral embargoes on Cuba or Venezuela? China is open to working with other countries on their space station, minus US of course. China works with other countries on infrastructure projects, like recently completing bridge connecting Croatia

nasa wont make 8 flights with this rocket. @4billion a pop that over 32billion. thats like 60-70 starships flights give or take 10. maybe more. yea sure the SLS is human rated out of the box but still. how long would it take to build an SLS, let alone a block 2b. 10-12 years at this rate... could be 1 a year but that elon talk
