Very interesting Vladimir. My uncle told me of this when he was a young boy in Yugoslavia how they used their families chicken feathers and thread from old scarves and clothing. He also said how valuable it was to have actual fish hooks and how cherished every fly they made was. Amazing what us tyers and fishermen take for granted in this day and age. Love it!!!
Thanks so much my friend. I started the same way. I only had hooks though. But, it was one model only. Gamakatsu f11 2sh i think... No curved hooks and so on... It was difficult... But pretty soon things changed. I met people, we started sharing... Now days its super easy to get anything 😀😀
Please... BISTRO!
Simply spectacular. But, Vladi, nowadays there are many tools to be able to do that tying in a simpler and faster way. However, I have to say that many "reputable" tiers today would not be able to do it. Even so, it's good to know these techniques, since one day (and as it currently unfolds), we may end up without internet, without TH-cam, without tools and, if you stop me, without pants (lol). Seriously now, great job. As an anecdote, here in Spain, there is a similar technique that dates back to the 17th century (approximately 1624), from which comes the famous (among tyers) "Manuscrito de Astorga", where flies are described for fishing and the traditional way to make them, of course all manually. From there comes the traditional breeding of Gallos de León (Coq de Leon), which has acquired so much fame. As always, a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thank you so much my friend. I didnt use tools because of the reminder how i started to tie. I only had hooks... I used threads around me, used to pinch fibers from blanket for dubbing and so on.... Its also and example for new tiers that they don't need fancy gear to tie good flies. Its only good mindset that people need. Reading comments, all around world, Europe especially, people used to tie flies like this not too long ago. I am happy people approved this way. Of course, tools are our friends and i love my tools. Renzetti traveler, tmc bobbin holders and so on... I have those tools for more than 12years now... All 100% functional as day one... Gallo de Leon.... I am in love with them...
I know who is very lucky here.... I wish i could go there... Sana is amazing... Truly beautiful river.. Especially upper parts (i havent been there yet) I fished it during world championship.. Water was a bit higher then.. But mighty and beautiful....
@@Oholisfliesandfishing I like what you said about taking care of the fish because they take care of us. Not sure exactly how you said it. 😂 Great video!
I was really amazed to see you tie your krejica fly by hand without tools. You are certainly a talented tyer. I heard of a tyer who put the eye of the hook under his fingernail to vice the fly while dressing it. Thanks for another great video.🎣👍
so interesting to show us how flies were tied .. and amazing how you did it well ! i have used 40 years ago a hand vise which i guess was much more easier..! thanks for sharing Vladimir👏👌
Glad you like it. Hand vise would help a lot actually... And bobbin holder as well.... But even with no tools we can tie.... Its only how much we want to improvise sometimes 😀😀
Excellent. It takes a fair level of dexterity without tools. Imagine trying to tie a size 18/20. I agree that we don’t need fancy materials to catch fish. It’s nearly always the scruffy flies that catch.
Well done. I think that fly would catch more fish then your normally perfectly tied flies. Your next challenge is tying blindfolded. Watch Davie Mcphail doing it. Incredible. Great job.
I have tried this and didn't do too good.I desided my vise is a great tool.Your fly looked good.I did better with the blindfold challenge.Have a great day my friend. I checked out Evgenil Borovin site. He's a great tier. Can't speak his language, but I can learn by watching.
Thanks so much. Try few times and you may get surprised. I love my tools too.... Such great stuff to have. Thats why i am grateful i started without tools. Blindfolded challenge is a tough one... I tried with simple pheasant tail nymph... I did ok.... But adding soft hackle would make it very difficult. Enjoy your weekend. Cheers 😀🍺
Thanks so much... Practice makes perfect... So give it few more tries.. But... As some pointed out... We got tools for a reason... This is a step backwards. Its fun to know... Not to make it a regular practice 😂😂
I enjoyed watching you do this, as I enjoy watching all your videos. Now try tying this fly using only your hands in size 22... ;-) By the way, you were going to provide a link to Evgenii's videos, but didn't see it below your video. I was able to locate his channel doing a simple search, but I thought you might want to know...
Excellent. It's a very handsome fly-my kind of natural looking pattern. I tried it once with a kebari fly-torture. :-) I make all my wet fly wings that way-they work perfectly well. It's too expensive to to get matched feathers. It works beautifully with duck flank feathers as well. :-)
I have some #12 Fishing Hooks. Those are kinda small, I can barely see the dang thang. I like miniatures and all but this is a whole new level because ain't that a 1:1 scale. What kinda
@@Oholisfliesandfishing , The Largest Hook I have is 6mm Gap and 13mm shaft. Is that a #8 Hook? I have 5 Sizes 4 are smaller measurements. I am thinking the smallest I have is size #12. I know they go down to size #32. #32 must be for sperm fishing or somethin', idk
@@arctictimberwolf i wouldnt know what is the size... But hook size matters only if you have picky fish.. If your fish are used to eat big bites.... Small flies arent important. Some places have thriving population of micro insects there you need small flies. Even big fish will tale them. Remember whales and what they eat.... Quite a feat to accomplish, but not one suited to my failing eyesight and aging dexterity. I simply don't understand why anyone would choose to do this the hard way, particularly in today's world that offers the best in modern, efficient tools . To me me it is akin to trading in a modern power lawn mower for a pair of vintage scissors. Thanks anyway, but I'll keep my modern vise, bobbin, and whipfinisher.
Its just a reminder for me how i started and kind of motivation for beginners to start with whatever they can get. Using bad and low quality tools is a start.... Better than to quit... I love my renzetti traveler, tmc bobbin holders, and other tools.... Some hand made as well.... C&F is amazing too... I love good quality tools over average or low quality... 🍺
Najbolji prikaz izrade tradicionalne "krejice" koji sam video, imajuci u vidu da za izradu nije koriscen savrememi alat. Bravo Vlado!
Hvala puno druze. Drago mi je da vidim tvoj komentar. 😀🍺🍺🍺

Wow!...that's a truly hand-tied fly Vladimir ...very skillful indeed...how lucky we are these days with modern tools etc
Tools make things much easier and better in a way. One can focus on tying rather than dexterity of fingers 😀😀
Very nice demonstration of the viceless tying. Well Done, thanks
Thanks so much 😀🍺🍺
This was impressive! Duck or goose would work well too for the wings. Thank you for sharing and you should be proud of yourself!
Thanks a lot
Agreed.. Duck, goose... Pigeon... Any bird will do. As long as barbs are appropriate 🍺😀
