    I have been watching these videos all summer for ideas to get my adult daughter and all of my nieces and nephews for Christmas. Your ideas are some of the best I’ve seen yet. I can not wait to purchase Cathy’s Greenhouse for my niece. Her mom’s name is Cathy, and she is talking about opening a greenhouse. Also, my niece loves to build and create, so I think this will be perfect! Also, I really want your oldest daughters book for myself! Not going overboard and sticking to certain categories really brings about more meaningful gifts that are enjoyed and purposeful. I have done this for years with my own daughter, and I feel like any time I went past seven gifts, it wasn’t cherished and appreciated. Great job!

    My sons and nearly 16 and 18. We live in New Zealand and their Christmas gift is a trip to California….holiday starts 13 December and we get back on 27 December. They will also have a couple things to open when we get back…..that they don’t know about as they think trip is present…. as who doesn’t love to have some stuff to rip open on Christmas Day.
    There extra gifts are ……
    15 year old…….world globe lego set ….he LOVES lego
    17 year old…… aviation bag and headset case ( he starts at aviation collage next year to become a pilot]………. plus a model A380 plane since he is most excited to fly on this plane for our trip
    I also did a gift box each for them….these have in them: socks, underwear, treat foods they love but hardly get to have , a cap each, t-shirt etc.
    Other than this they mostly get money from family…..we are a very small family.

    I love the idea of sibling gifts. Our 3yo kitty furson is giving his human sister a pair of socks with his face on them. He's getting toys and treats. Our 13yo daughter is getting clothes, jewelry, Heely's and an HP Crome Book. We normally don't give that expensive of gifts. We're this year because she is missing out on the east coast trip

    Wow. You get a lot of gifts for your kids. We usually did one main gift, a couple of stocking stuffers, and a couple of other relatives would get them something.😊

    We have that joovy walker, and I wanted it specifically because it was plain and simple. I have some pictures under the clear tray, and my little one cruises around in that thing like a race car driver. She's about grown out of it since she can walk on her own now but it's still fun. My kids say stockings are one of there favorites too along with the one bigger gift unwrapped under the tree waiting for them in the morning.

    I always go a little overboard with gifts for my kids but I get a lot of things that they need and I’d end up buying anyway. This year they’re getting sleeping bags, boots, books, puzzles, shoes, socks, hats etc for their more frivolous items my boy is getting some toys he wants called bokagon and my girls getting perfume and makeup brushes that she asked for. I also got them a pickle ball set to share.

    Love these!! My oldest boy (7) has been asking for a metal detector forever, for buried treasure of course. So that will be his big gift this year! My youngest boy (4) really wanted a "Racing balls" kit this year...a marble run, so that will be his big gift!!

    My kids are strangely protective of their books also. I've had my younger kids ask for certain books we already own and I tell them that and my oldest chimes in with that's my book! 🤣 This is our first year doing the categories of gifts. It made shopping so much easier and made them be much more intentional with their Christmas lists! Last year was my 13 year olds first year of competition dance and I couldn't figure out what those boots were for that everyone seemed to be wearing. Thanks for cluing me in! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

  • @karbear26
    @karbear26 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I definitely understand about being protective about book! I let my sister borrow some books and she dog eared one of them (gasp) and lost the other so no more borrowing books (we’re both adults)! My daughter who will be 13 in January wanted nerf guns apparently she’s always wanted them?? We had a neighbor across the street have a nerf gun party. I don’t think it will be something that she’ll stick with so lucky GameStop has 50% off clearance sale and they had a couple sets of roblox there! So got a super deal on them! Also asked my mom to get her some nerf targets. She also loves anime and manga so my sister is getting her a manga series she wanted! My mother inlaw gets her crap usually I’m going to try and send her an Amazon wish list but we’ll see! I also found my niece the Barbie color reveal super party at GameStop for $11!!

    Mom of 5 here also!
    11 girl, 9 boy, 7 girl, 4 girl, and 1 boy.
    Last year I started scaling back on gifts and realized it was better giving my kids less. I also decided this year to step away from Santa and try to teach more of the meaning of Christmas (giving back). I’m trying not to be a Grinch but less is so much better! I love the 1 want, and steam gift. As for the need is hard because I can’t until Christmas to give my kids something they need.😂

    • @Maiju86
      @Maiju86 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @robinjones1955
      @robinjones1955 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you could just switch out the need category... i know it wont rhyme anymore... but theres no rule saying it has to rhyme..
      You could do 2 wants, 1 steam and 1 read..
      Or you could do 1 want, 1 do/make, 1 steam and 1 read..
      If you like 4 gifts, just cater it to your family..
      1 do like crafts or art..
      1 play - like board games
      Etc.

    Mama of 7 and same here…4 gifts with the rhyme (minus steam) AND I totally go overboard with stocking stuffers as well! 😂 I get nice items that are useful mainly (but also things like playmobil or calico critters) and not just dollar items! Love watching this video. Thanks for sharing, Abby! 🎄

    It always feels like too much 😆 this year we did a fun sibling gift, something for learning (examples a math game, or my older son got headphones), something steam/hands on (kinetic sand kit, my older son got a guitar pick punch to make guitar picks with) and then something to read. I also haven't figured out how to scale back stockings 😆 or grandparents for that matter

    My son turns 10 the week of Christmas. His big gift is a 4 in one table (54 in. Tall) that has pool, ping-pong, fooseball & something else. That will give him something to bond with friends when they're over since he's the "only 4th grader in world who doesn't have video games". He's also getting a wooden baseball dice game, a MLB Baseball hat, some books & a new devotional, a pocket knife and some Baseball gear.

      Hi! I get this a lot when I share these videos. The “A” in “STEAM” is for art, once they started adding in humanities such as visual and digital arts it is often referred to as STEAM, but then you’ll often find it as “STEM” when it is focused solely on “hard” sciences! 😊

      Well, I have one child specifically who would give the “want, need, read” list as an order form, so there would be no element of surprise that morning. That’s what I was t trying to articulate, essentially.
