    That really is a beautiful picture of the badger. It takes a lot of patience to do this stuff. I just checked my camera trap yesterday and will have to wait probably a month or more to check it again since it's now snowing in the mountains where I have it set up and the dirt road that goes there will be either snowed in or axle deep mud for a while. I know I'll be antsy about it but I'm hoping that some of the animals I've gotten there with trail cameras in years past will come through in the snow and get a nice portait taken.
    Here's wishing all of us in the camera trapping community lots of luck!

      Thank you Melani, your right, it can take loads of patience and perseverance and certainly makes you work hard for your images at times. I wish you every success with your latest set up and hope that you get your portraits in the snow. 👍

    Another beautiful video. You have a lot of ability when it comes to looking for scenarios that are suitable for the photographs. Curiously, I have also started to fatten the birds in the forest, and also a friend of mine who is dedicated to this. I think we all share the same madness. The badger photo is beautiful, by the way. Greetings from Spain and thanks for sharing your work!!

      Thank you, as always for your kind words. I am very lucky to have this area of secluded land close to my place of work. As for our shared madness, I think it is a nice madness to have. 😊 Keep up the good work with your own channel. You have an impressive amount of excellent content. 👍

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. It can be a bit daunting leaving expensive gear out in nature, but the rewards can make it worth the risk.

    Thanks John for another cracking video..i,m just waiting for my box to arrive, then i,m ready to have a go myself..done some tests in the garden etc,,and all seems ok, but out in the Field is a different game..just wandering where you get your various fittings to secure your lights etc..keep up the good work and i look forward to seeing you in the new year.

    • @JohnFormstone
      @JohnFormstone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dennis, The fittings I use to secure my lights vary from small folding tripods to homemade mini ball heads with eye screws attached.
      I may do a video on it the future as there are plenty of ideas to share.
      Good luck with your new gear. 👍

    Hi there, great videos, where do you get the screw in clamps you mount the flashes to? Can't see them any where, keep up the good work

    • @JohnFormstone
      @JohnFormstone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. They are homemade and are made from a 4" eye screw bolted to a small ballhead.
      I may do a video in the near future covering mounts etc as it seems to be a subject i am frequently asked about. 👍

    Hello John, greetings from Ireland, I have a trail camera out in a local forest and I am getting a lot of pine marten activity I was going to set up my camera, I was wondering where did you get your poles for your flashguns, as they seem to be a great job, thanks. your videos are great, looking forward to some more keep up the good work. Tom

    • @JohnFormstone
      @JohnFormstone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Tom, The poles i use are left over from my old fishing days. I think they are called "storm poles". You can also use large, extendable bank sticks used for fishing.
      Most fishing related gear have a standard thread and you will need a "camera bank stick adapter", which are readily available from fishing tackle retailers, which screws into the top of the poles and on the opposite end has a 1/4-20 unc thread that is an industry standard thread compatible with most photography related equipment.
      Ebay is as good a place as any to find both poles and adapters. Hope this helps.

    Love these videos , will shortly be deploying my set up for first time here in France (after I’ve charged all the batteries! ) one question if I may…. Where did you purchase the camo sleeves for the flash units and pelican case please. I have looked at the usual sites but cannot find them ?
    Kindest Regards

    • @JohnFormstone
      @JohnFormstone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Paul, The Camo sleeves etc that i use are a cheap ghillie suit that i got on Ebay. If memory serves me right I think it was around £20 for a 2 pce suit. I cut off the arms and legs from the suit for the flashes and use the trouser part for the pelicase. Hope this helps.
      Good luck with your new set up. 👍

    May I ask what kind if trail cam are you using? I am thinking about getting one and don’t know anything about the subject. I would like to get some descent/usable shots during the night and your camera looked good enough. 😃

      Hi, The trail camera footage that was used in this video was from a Browning Spec ops Elite HP5, which you can find here : shop.naturespy.org/collections/camera-traps/products/browning-spec-ops-elite-hp5
      Hope this helps. 😊
