Lori Brown joined the Department of Aviation Sciences, College of Aviation, in 2001. She is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and earned her Master of Aviation Human Factors degree from Swinburne University of Technology in Australia. She continues her studies at the Naval Post Graduate School and with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Her aviation career began in 1988 with Continental Airlines where she worked as a Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) among other jobs before finding a passion for teaching and training the next generation of aviation professionals.
Her dedication and passion for aviation earned her the Who's Who among America's Teachers Award for several years, a nomination for WMU's prestigious Distinguished Teacher's Service Award, and numerous research grant awards. Her research interests include the use of augmented reality in technical training. She is currently a researcher for the FAA PEGASAS Center of Excellence, a multiple university effort dedicated to helping the FAA revolutionize technical training practices. Her work has been featured internationally at ICAO, by the Royal Aeronautical Society, and in many international conferences, books, and journal publications.
