I think it definitely depends on what kind of “look” you want from a bag when choosing one of these. Personally, I think the color wear adds character with time and still looks good as a casual every day bag. Kinda like how white canvas converse still look “good” after they no longer are clean white. Just a personal preference! I had a maroon color mini that I really like and recently got the laptop version and got the no 2 with leather handles. It’s so pretty and they added a new pocket inside which is a major plus for me.
If you read the “care” of the bag, it says it’s not supposed to go in the wash. You’re supposed to wash it with lukewarm water and clean with a brush or sponge
It depends on which color you get. I got a super grey one in the original size, & it doesn't show any dirt at all & it's my go to bag.... It has softened up somewhat, which I like, but definately doesn't show any dirt. All I do to clean it, is wipe it off.....

you can clean it and use the kanken wax to restore the color

I have two over two years old and they get dirty very quickly and grubby looking. Over hyped in my opinion.
