    Looks good!. Maybe a rabbet or a dado for the bottom panel? It would look great just the way it is!

    Can't fault the prototype. Seems just right as is. Packing however, I have suggestions; Use doubled parcel string [the brown straggly kind] in the usual criss-cross style and seal it with some red wax. It would be cool if you had your own branding iron to imprint your logo on the wax seal or just burnt into the box. The plane shavings are, of course, essential, but you can spritz them up with Christmas spices [vanilla essense, cinnamon, ginger, cloves etc] to give 'em that festive aroma. Nice job!

    like the box I would think of putting the bottom on the inside to kept the one piece appearance

  • @doug0823
    @doug0823 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great job. I would add the box joints to bottom also and burn in your logo or some kind of design in the lid or maybe tie a bow with twine around it. That way the whole thing could be put together and held without glue. I’d also make a smaller version for your hot sauce. Great Xmas gift ideas. I make my own wine also and make my own labels for it. Would look great. You gave me some great ideas. Thanks.

    I think the box is great, maybe add a design on the front panel? You could burn it in with a hot iron. Could make it personal as a gift that way with names or something.

    A slight change of concept - creating a presentation box with 3 or 4 bottles of pepper sauce that range from mild to scorching hot. I have some friends that would love that.

    Nice project for pallet wood. The only thing I'd do different is to recess the base into a rabbet. It would just give the edges a cleaner look, but would add some complexity.
    Thank your for sharing your projects. I have a pile of oak pallets boards and your projects have gotten me inspired to build with them.

    Making plans...Sketchup, I think that is what it is called. Expensive, but would be worth your consideration. You could do all your planning and final drafts of plans before you even make the project. Something to look into anyway. I hope I got the name of that right. It's what Stumpy uses, and as you know, he comes up with a lot of great stuff. Either way, good vid, be waitin' for the next one.

    I love it! Great work! What about a shou sugi ban finish or if you had some pieces of pallet that would take the epoxy resin. Your Just short a choligriphic "LB" on the face. Looks so good!

    I decided to remodel my old boat house into my shop. Half of it is over water which will be enclosing. The first battle is mud fibbers. Didn’t realize how much mud they can bring into a place. It will end up 24 x 24 ft when finished

    Love the box design. Maybe not make the top sides so tall. That way the door is a little closer to the top. I think if the box is smaller, you might run the risk of bottle damage. The shavings should keep the bottle in place.

  • @Borescoped
    @Borescoped 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’d suggest a few things:
    Make the sides of the U around the base smaller, and add a leather strap across it to hold the bottle
    If you are going to gift the bottles and boxes made, then custom stamp the leather strap with your mark 😉

    I've used a couple different designs for wine boxes (with wine or mead) to present as gifts, using box/finger joints. The designs are not as sophisticated as yours as I've used shavings to surround and protect the wine/mead bottle with no interior structure(s). The added dadoes and bottle braces are attractive, but I wonder if they are they worth the additional construction time? BTW, I created a gift card for the boxes that says, "ReGift this Box," as I started thinking, "Why would anyone just keep a wine box?" It is not really for display, so it could be passed on from family member to friend, etc. Anyway, yours is a well-made, attractive box. Good job!

    @jimstewart1044 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's a nice box! I really like all the thought you've put into it.
    If you're going to ask the set up and work to make the dados, why don't you just make a rabbet or another dado joint for the bottom of the box? Seems to me like that would just be a nicer finish.
    Just my thought. The planer shavings will be a nice touch.

    Ferment those peppers longer bro. Your missing out on a lot of fermentation action. I find my pepper ferments are most active between weeks two and three. I see a considerable slow down in CO2 production after that.
