For those who don't know, Royal Pirates were supposed to comeback before summer, but James the bassist got into a terrible accident which injured his hand/wrist severely to the point he still cant play the bass despite having been on it for years. The injury was so severe to the point that his hand started to darken, which meant there were even discussion of him having to amputate it. They probably had to scrap out some songs since he cant play bass live anymore. Thats why he is on the keyboard now, still sad he had to give up on his favorite instrument and probably has to go through many YEARS of therapy before going back on it.
+BURH BRUH Ok... I knew he was bad but never knew what was going on. I also noticed the keybord and caught my attention. Oh my god. I was thinking it was smth like this but reading this just broke my heart. I'm so proud of James and his spirit.

He explained on Instagram that the burning shield, represented his regrets/pain/past memories because he went through so much shit and might even lose his hand, since it turned a bit black. So him hitting the bass on the shield basically means, he wants to destroy those painful memories, and regrets, and move on.
So happy to see you all back! Great song and beautiful vocals as usual. James, you're a totally badass for pushing through despite your insane injury. *waves ~fighting~ pompoms in the air*

Royal Pirates is categorized as K-rock, not K-pop ;) And I'm glad you enjoy their music, too! They really need more recognition.
True, however it is arguably kpop because the pop stands for popular, so technically speaking any genre of music can be kpop.

Came back to this after reading James' recent post on instagram. He's not leaving Royal Pirates. He will forever be the best bass player in Royal Pirates. He's always going to be the one who wrote our favorite song, "Betting Everything". We're always going to remember him going to the jungle, and dancing like a maniac on a live broadcast. He WILL recover. And he WILL kick this obstacle in the ass. He's going to look at this later in life and say, "thought you had me? I wasn't done yet". We're here for you James, and we're always going to be here no matter what. This isn't a "goodbye". It's a "see you later". No matter if you're making music or not, if its 10 weeks down the road, or 10 years, we'll still be here betting everything for you to recover.

It's been 5 years and this song is still gold and so underrated makes me :/
I instantly became an RP fan after seeing this MV last month. To be honest, when I first watched the music video, I fell in love with the song but I didn't understand the MV. But when I started reading about them and their experiences that were conveyed with each symbol (the flaming shield, Moon's photos with his brother, Sooyoon's flower), I realized this MV holds so much meaning. Now everytime I watch it, I love it more and more.
I have so much respect and love for this band now and I think I'll be their fan for a very very long time. Their music has evolved since their debut and their talent deserves recognition. Thank you RP for quenching my thirst for creativity and innovation and bringing fresh and authentic music in the Korean music industry (which is, sadly, dominated by idol groups doing hiphop and butt-shaking/twerking dances T_T) Royal Pirates hwaiting!!!!!!

Cocotl Meztli as far as I heard the flower represents Sooyoon's mother who was diagnosed with some sort of illness long ago, which makes her lose both her physical and mental health over time. The withered blowing away and him looking at it, it's something like 'he was slowly losing his mother with time and he couldn't really do anything about it.'. but near the end of the MV, the flower is back in his hand. so some are saying that she has gotten better.

Ironically I was a royal treasure but opened the MV accidentally while searching for PTG s Runaway ... And I had never realized Moon s hyung or James smashing the guitar or every other tidbit which turned the MV so emotional ... I wanted to thank Royal Pirates again for everything they did to us. Maybe only us who were fans really knew, but they went through LOADS of sad things and still managed to be professional and gentle everytime and they deserve so much better ... I am so glad I got to follow them while they were still active, thanks chance for reminding me of what it was like and hwaiting to us all (:

I love ALL of RP, but SooYoon has always been my bias, and I've always gotten a bit giddy when he's got a guitar in his hands (as much as I love him as a drummer, don't misunderstand ... he's one of my all-time favorite drummers ... but when he's singing and playing acoustic guitar, I melt....). I can't wait to see what he gives us!

I... was totally not expecting the song to sound this way. I just assumed they amped up the teaser to be more on the electronic side... While the video is somewhat simple set wise... the way it was shot you can feel the emotion. Just awesome. Totally could cross over if they did an English version
