As 6 or 7 time NY state champion, yes, trials will teach you everything, and then you can other things, it doesn’t work so well vise versa. Key is to always look ahead, I can tell by go pro your staring at the ground in front of you. Look ahead, when in doubt go up a gear, keep your legs wide and let the bike bounce around under you for creek beds, unload the suspension so that rear tire barely touch’s the log, drag the rear brake on off cambers and slippery roots, lean back on your downhills and remember you’ve done it before in practice

Learnt o weight the rear wheel, should solve a lot of your traction issues. If you move your weight too far forwards on the up hills you de-weight the rear and lose traction ;-)
