Once more, we play our dangerous game, a game of chess against our old adversary - The American Navy. For forty years, your fathers before you, and your older brothers played this game, and played it well. But... today the game is different. We have to face Wolfpack, and he has the advantage.
The Sea King’s dipping sonar is purely active. It has a passive range of 0 nm in game, so it’s useless without pinging. Threw me for a loop when I played this mission.
Except maybe the mast, it's going to be too deep for recreational divers. We'll be talking about technical divers and elite freedivers here, assuming the bodies and the nuclear reactor has been taken care of.
@@Minong_Manitou_Mishepeshu It was 157ft (47m) and still sinking towards the end, but I digress. The limit for a recreational scuba diver is 40m (131ft). Beyond that limit, you'll either be breathing exotic gas mixes or use a rebreather as a technical diver, or not breathing at all as a freediver. Either way, it is out of reach of most divers. Only a handful of people would have the specialised skills and equipment needed to get to those depths and to do so safely.
Dang, that Sea King with the fuel was something out of the Jack Ryan drop-off onto the Dallas, lol. Fun fact, if you look closely at the helicopter crew chief's helmet visor in that scene, you can see people walking around a parking lot in the reflection instead of the Atlantic Ocean!
Watched that movie recently and was astounded damn near the whole run time was movie. Like 3 minutes of credits. Unlike modern movies where 20+ minutes of run time are credits
Submarine battles in this game sound daunting, but are probably the most rewarding once you get a hand on the mechanics. Ive racked up 108 hours on this game. And these vids made me buy it. Such an awesome game and fantastic mod selection. NTU mod is great fun!
Ok, forcing a sub to surface and abandon ship was already really cool - only to then see the Romeo snorkelling 😮😁 This is yet another excellent video, really loving this series and looking forward to seeing more of it!
When the two torpedo's went below and away from the Romeo, I genuinely thought that they were tracking after an unseen Juliet. Romeo's and Juliet's were often paired together hence their NATO callsigns.
@@gluesniffingdude I learned it from an old The Mighty Jingles episode, many years ago, when he was playing Cold Waters. Man was in the Royal Navy for many years, I'd wager that he knows a thing or two about Soviet submarines.
@@JTelli786 so it's hearsay from Jingles, a man who despite the fact that I love him, often makes serious errors and misattributions... Nice as always! Observing that such shallow waters for nuclear submarines but would be the perfect place for more diesel electrics, a few silent and lethal kilos would be ideal for this scenario. (or some Improved Kilos project 636 for when it is modded in the game :D )
So far i never seen a ship using a torpedo launched from the deck. It would be cool to see some asroc and torps being used from the ships .love the videos as always excellent 4k and editing. Thanks again Wolfpack for enjoyable naval videos
To be fair, if the ship is close enough to use the ASW torpedoes it has on it, the enemy submarine is well within range to launch its own torpedoes, and it likely has already. And the increasing range and accuracy of homing torpedoes is exactly which ASROC and choppers able to carry ASW torpedoes were developed to begin with.
The modeling in this game is absolutely impressive. They did an amazing job with it and I'm so excited to see where this games goes. As always, love your vids man
Thank you for the great video. As always, it is very very attending and exciting to watch you going full ballistic on strategy and tactics. Greetings from germany! ✌️
I gotta say, this campaign is very well done, I loved every mission. I look forward to seeing Wolfpack go through it. Especially the Kirov mission...very intense.
Geez, that thing was pumping out decoys as fast as they could get them out the launcher. But I guess you really can't blame them. Those Mk 46's may not be big, but they can still make your day real bad, real quick. The Romeos are a little odd looking, but you can definitely see the traits handed down from it's late war European father, so to speak.
Been watching since before 10k subs. I absolutely love what you’ve been doing with Sea power and I can’t wait to see its full potential. Thanks for giving me stuff to binge watch that closely relates to what I do. (Submarine mechanic) Can’t wait to see more and happy holidays Wolfpack!!
Love your content and been watching since you started doing Sea Power videos. Also, the Spruance class are just DDs, not DDGs. When the VLS retrofit took place, then the Spruance class transitioned to DDGs.
I want to ask if you’ve ever played the old windows 95 battleship game where it had a mode more basic to this game. Was one of my favorites growing up.
I wish the destruction of vessels was a bit more dynamic. Subs for example imploding or breaking apart including momentum. Not a fan of vessels getting hit and almost immediately stopping. Small complaints but great immersion. Cant wait to buy this game.
NEW IDEA: US Rearmament Supply Ships to guard during the next campaign so you can stock up on new missiles. I would love to see a South American campaign, unrelated to the above comment. I just thought having to escort resupply ships would be awesome for a mid-campaign mission. Ideally, this would give new threats from new areas (maybe the enemy has subs? Aircraft? Maybe they won't even bother? Maybe another fleet not yet detected was deployed to attack them and this is how you find them?) besides "Do this objective and kill everyone" which would be amazing.
They can have multiple escape trunks depending on size for sure. Some Soviet subs had large escape pods too. Very survivable that last sinking was if your section watertight doors were shut.
If I was some schmuck caught in a Romeo in 250 ft of water and just narrowly avoided getting two Mk46 I would just surface the boat and surrender to the helo. Fuck that.
I love terms like "prosecute" the contact. Would it be better to drop the torpedo heading toward the front of a submarine to mitigate the noise makers?
you must have a mod that gives a greater range for the sonar buoys. because spotting the submarine from the first buoy when it is about fifteen km from the latter, that surprised me.. when I did this mission, I had to place a lot of buoys before finding it. the range of my buoys must be a few nautical miles.
The scenario editor lets you set the date back to 1948, but realistically there's no in-game assets that would let you create a realistic mission for that year. With the ships and planes currently available you're kinda limited to the 1980s.

I enjoy your videos. How can you tell your helos are low on fuel? What do you click? I'm still learning the game since I purchased it on the release date! I find the tutorial videos (the 2 I've watched thus far) weak and lacking in imparting knowledge! Most that I've learned is by watching your videos and videos of a few others. Open question for anyone that is willing to answer. Thanks!
I think it's just the range circle around the helo, I assume once that doesn't reach your mother ship you're a bit boned - but I haven't played the game!
The circle is the range of the helicopter, once it shrink so much to disappear it means the vehicle has just the range to get back to base and you really shouldn't try to stop it
Lets see what you post here :))) I do something as these but with reverse force and without helicopters . Was so fucking hard to found the american sub.
I find this game pretty dull. That being said I watch Wolfpack because of his ability to make a story out of missions which is pretty hard when a game is multi shipped and one off missions. I still much prefer Silent Hunter or U-boat though as Wolf really adds to that gameplay with excellent story making and narration.

I do hope the devs add in more detail on the wreckages. Would be a cool effect to have submarines implode on occasion when hit.
