  • In this documentary we share some of our fundamental onggi making processes. We go from mixing our clay from local sources, processing our ash glaze, to the creation of a small fermentation jar, and ultimately firing our smallest jilgama.
    The jilgama was loaded on the previous day with pots and it is usually fired to a low temperature of about 1000c. The special quality about this kind of firing is that at the end of the firing the kiln is loaded to the top with wood before all the dampers, exhausts and the entrance is completely covered so that no carbon can escape. The result is a naturally blackened earthenware.
