I had the exact same issues you talk about in the video. I was hooked on this online world where I could present myself as this perfect human being and try to prove something to the representatives of the opposite sex in means to sparkle some sort of magical relationship. However I noticed that by diving deeper into this I just felt miserable as I wasn't able to achieve anything in the end. The solution that worked for me? Just delete all of those apps, hide your phone in your pocket and get out there! I encouraged myself to doing simply random stuff, like sitting next to random girls at coffee shops and talking to them, bumping in to them on the bus or by just giving out flowers to them on completely random occasions out there on the busy streets. This gave me a giant boost in confidence and made me a completely different person. Heck, now the girls are the ones approaching me. You just have to live :)

Binging through your channel right now; love your videos. They are all at once genuine, insightful and well-shot, which I personally find to be rare in content creation that is out there nowadays. Kudos.
This video was especially relatable, down to the fact that I take the exact same route home from Pasadena to Downtown on a regular basis. It's really nice to see what I tend to take for granted during my commute shot so beautifully.
Anyway, I often find myself enamored by men (and women!) who catch my attention from across the train or while crossing paths on the street, but like you, could never muster up enough courage to approach them and say hello. Meanwhile, swiping and initiating messages through apps can sometimes feel so second nature! It's funny how that works.
I made the decision at the end of last year to quit dating apps indefinitely and already feel so much better focusing on being more immersed in real life. The Internet is a great tool for facilitating connections, but the true connection, I find, occurs outside of all that. Not to mention, this dating app cleanse has really brought a lot of light into my own self-actualization and realizing that I can be quite comfortable and happy in my aloneness most days, so there's a bonus.
Just wanted to say I'm right there with ya. If it's any consolation, I think your desire in creating human connection and relatability is truly achieved in these videos that you create and put out into the world, so please don't stop!
(Then again, it's been almost a year since you posted this, so perhaps none of this is even relevant anymore. Heh!)

Hey Spencer! I recently found your channel after searching for some videos about people that have dropped out of college, and almost 10 out of 10 times it's for the film industry, which is exactly what I believe I want to devote my time to. And after listening about your experiences, and those of others as well, I realized that what I'm feeling is basically the same thing as y'all. So thanks for sharing your thoughts, because it helped a lot with reassurance of myself, and how the next steps I'm most likely about to take are not super crazy. Also, you're videos have such great quality! I also make weekly videos so I understand that these take a good bit of effort. Keep it up!

i've become so dependent on the internet to meet new girls that it was unhealthy. I would not try to meet new people in real life and would go to twitter or instagram to interact with new girls. I would try my hardest to set myself apart from everyone else and created this "perfect image" of myself that distorted my view of my true self. I noticed myself starting to act differently and I actually lost my true self in the process of this. Yesterday, I saw this cute girl at target and gained 30 seconds of courage and talked to her. We had a good conversation and found out that we both go to the same college. She told me where she works so I might go visit her since I didn't get the chance to ask for her number

I actually found some connection in this video. I can relate to you so much. The whole "well I'll still have to see her on Monday" really relates to how I feel.

bro! I've been trying to get into contact with you over instagram hahah. Was hoping you could help me a bit with my audio game from a newbie filmmaker :) super curious what you do in post to get the crisp voice quality. I'm using a zoom h4n pro w/ a rode link lavalier mic. Audio quality is good but not as crisp as i'd like. help would be greatly appreciated. much love and keep uploading your work!
