How many high tracking force, belt driven, cheapo AT ceramic or MM cartridge, external power supply pieces of ewaste do we need before people realize older turntables are better?

High tracking force, clearly a senseless anti skating, inconsistent playback speed and bad tracking, even at that force. Nope, it's a piece of junk in every way.

Yes,wow and flutter problems make it a deal breaker .

Especially since they want more than $800 for it.

The drum track on the Sharp record reminded me of '50 ways to leave your lover' by Simon and Garfunkel.

Yes i fixed a ton of jukeboxes and most played vertical. All had low wow and flutter, low tracking force and sure or ortofon cartridges and the platter was held on with a c clip but most were rim drive, no belt but heavy platter.

For design reasons V2 should have an arm parking position horizontal not standing up like a sore thumb.

I got rid of my last turn table back in 1992 or 93. So, maybe I'm remembering this wrongly, but record warping really effected the constancy of the sound. The more worped the record the worse the sound. And the less I could stand vinyl. My last turntable had quartz timing. I seem to recall that a lazer reading element instead of a diamond stylis was the suposed solution to the worped record problem. But I was way beyond caring at that point.

Right, when by that time, CD audio was a thing which is better than human perception can detect. I don't understand why people romanticize vinyl so much. It is cool to be able to listen to audio without any electronics whatsoever, but buy a gramophone for that. If you're going to add amplification, might as well go CD.

"Groovy music to jam out to" The 70s called and they'd like their verbiage back.

this is very nice but way too much on the price for the wow and flutter also I have seen a nother vertical player in black that is way cheaper for sale no reviews on it but it is fully automatic around 300.00 I think love to hear how that sounds I believe its made by mikesonic

Cool machine but the wow is unacceptable. Will it be better if you run it in for a couple of hours?

The first record you played looked like it was warped. The reflections in the record looked trippy. I'm not keen on the long thread for the 'nut' to hold the record on either.

It looks like a lot of fun, but I'll pass anyway. My collection is kind of holy. But the design is absolutely great, and it looks pretty decent. 4.2 grams 😅 It has a few flaws

Here are a few of my 2 cents
    - Loved the "improvements that can be made" part at the end... in summary : don't buy it, get something with ergonomic controls and normal way of handling records.
    - Before that, my first thought was "How do I get rid of this AI voice?", I so freaking hate talking components.
    - The center piece looks heavy and will eventually fall down on your toes

I always wanted a vertical record player. Maybe someday. A long time ago, (early 70's) I saw a jukebox playing a 45 vertically. I was amazed as a kid. How?

If I can play devil's advocate, one nice accessibility feature is that it announced "phono mode". So you will always know what mode you're in.

Why do all these cheapo companies feel it necessary to include Bluetooth on a record player? Especially when most reproduce sound far inferior to that which comes from your cell phone, this is useless. Obviously the cheap motor needs replacing. I've repaired and restored lots of record players over the years and seen and tested many of these types of nostalgia ones and the like.
It would be so easy for one of these companies to make a really good sounding record player, portable or otherwise. With a proper impedance match for the cartridge (most are terribly incorrect) Most have the weight for the cartridge incorrect. STOP including Bluetooth ! That's not what we purchase a record player for. ALWAYS include TONE and BASS controls. All recordings are made with differently. Play a record that was recorded today, one from the 80's , the 70's the 60's . THEY'RE ALL DIFFERENT and NEED to be adjusted to you're personal taste.
This may never happen unfortunately so I'll be content with the ones I've built myself and hope maybe one day someone will provide newcomers to vinyl with a decent playback unit instead of this junk that's thrown together with a dollars worth of electronics in a pretty box.

Given the price and size, an external power supply is lazy and unacceptable.

  • @7JANEWAY
    @7JANEWAY 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

I think part of the problem with the music is your record. It appears to be pressed slightly off centered, which will affect the sound. I’ve heard a bit of pitch variance every time you use that record. However, I am NOT defending this turntable!!! It’s obviously made more for novelty than performance, so naturally it’s not going to sound the greatest. Better to spend more money and get a real turntable if you want your records to sound good.

...then again, the test record had the wow test at the end of the record. The speed is much slower at the end, so the wow is much larger there than at the beginning of he record. It may even be that there is flutter as well at the beginning of the record. And, of course there is no sub woofer. It's probably just a one wide range driver system. The 20-20.000 kHz qualification is only relating to the amplifier and line in, not to the output of phono. The AT3600 element and generally vinyl, doesn't produce this frequency range through such cheap elements.
