This is actually inspiring. Reminds me why I love Monty so much - the first album I heard of him was Montreaux Alexander, and there's no doubt about it, this guy can swing like nobody's business. What amazes me is how the audience can sit there so still! I couldn't stop moving in the last 8 and a half minutes!
I always thought Monty was overlooked for so many years; I'm sure that was partly because Oscar Peterson loomed so large over the world of piano jazz. Monty's version of Two Bass Hit was always my favorite, even though John Lewis wrote it for Miles.

John Lewis wrote this tune for Dizzy Gillespie second Big Band either 1947 or 1948.
