    Great review! I have the 2P and it has performed admirably in heavy rain and wind on the AT. I love it. Thanks for sharing. 🙏

    Nice! I tested my X-mid 2 (v2) this past weekend in my back yard, same reason. It held up in 40 - 50mph with 70mph gusts and heavy rain! I was dry all night. I had to re-stake a couple times due to my poor initial staking and the ground was soaked, like soup. Great tents, highly recommend them.

    TIP...if you stake out those "extra" loops around the tent, you won't get any "flapping" noise from the wind to wake you at night! Great video, great tent!

      Did 5 days in the wind river range with it and it held up great against high winds and rain. The extra loops came in clutch. Love this tent! Thanks for commenting 🤙

    Great vid. I've been using the same tent for about 4 years, on and off, in the UK. It's seen plenty of rain and has performed really well. Delighted with it. Very easy to live in it on long distance multi-night wild camps.

    I really like the storage on each side. To keep things cleaner I purchased some " 2m (2.2 Yards) of Tyvek 43gsm 1443R Kitemaking Material | Durable, Strong, Lightweight, Breathable " from Amazon. It's Trvek but softer and quieter then the normal Tyvek. I cut it to form a ground cloth on the inside of the tent with about a 4 inch border between it and the walls on the outside. My pack and the rest can be on it and stay dry and clean.

      @@dominictenorio4743 I have a piece of tyvek cut but don’t currently use one with this tent.

    I'm curious if a ground sheets needed if it's made of dyneema/poly and I wish it was more spacious inside. Still prefer it to Zpacks.

      There is a 2 person version of this tent that’s pretty spacious inside. I use a piece of tyvek as a ground sheet but it’s not necessarily needed.

    • @hikerdoc6771
      @hikerdoc6771 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the ground is wet you're best to put a sheet of tyvek underneath. I have also used a poncho/tarp as a groundsheet with good effect.

    So you talked about staying dry in a downpour in the video. My biggest reservation in trying this tent is that the bathtub seems almost too shallow to protect against splashing and wind driven rain. I take it you didn’t have an issue with that? Maybe because the fly is pulled out so far from the inner tent?

    • @BackcountryTreks
      @BackcountryTreks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have been in many more high wind and downpour situations in this tent since doing this review and have stayed dry. As long as you’re not setting up in a low spot that will completely flood out it performs very well. Largely because of the huge vestibules on either side.

    You called the door tie-outs cordage “shock cord” implying that it stretches like a bungee cord material. Is this really accurate? Or is it just a toggled, non-stretching cord? Thanks.

    • @BackcountryTreks
      @BackcountryTreks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s both actually. The shock cord loops directly to the tent and a piece of non stretch cordage is attached to the shock cord. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!
