  • Renault Captur is a quirky B-crossover. It features some clever design, and seems like good fun. How does it stack up against Peugeot 2008 ( • (ENG) Peugeot 2008 All... ) and Opel Mokka ( • (ENG) Opel/Vauxhall Mo...

    I'm about to buy a Captur and, obviously, I've watched tons of reviews on youtube and online magazines. I must say that your car reviews are the best I've found around, thank you for your service!

    I absolutely love my Captur. I went for the Dynamique 1.5 dCi EDC version.

    +Marek Drives I love your reviews especially this one, my dad should be getting his in around 5 weeks but the manual 1.2TCE in Dynamic trim but with Techno Pack thats why we had to wait longer. We have the 1.5DCI 90 for the past 3 years.

    I think the Peugeot 2008 is better. The plastics in the Captur are almost as bad as the ones in the Clio The boot is smaller than in the 2008, although on paper it might say something else. You have to see them both to realise that. The fancy glove drawer is unusable if there's someone in the passenger seat, because it will hit their knees. The plastic on the back of the front seats is annoyingly hard, and if you're not careful when stepping inside you'll hit your knees. And that thing on the floor in the back makes it difficult even for a 12 year child to sit in the middle, although that's the same in the 2008. The 2008 has better seats, better steering wheel (if you like the position of it), better materials on the dash board and doors. And it's really easy to fold the back seats, leaving a perfectly flat surface that's really useful. In the Captur the boot is quite small with the double floor in place. If you remove that, if leaves a big lip that you'll always scratch when taking the suitcase out. If you slide the seats forward the space in the boot is not very different from the normal position, but you make the back seats unusable and you get a space left between the double floor deck and the back of the seats where some smaller things can fall through. The diesels in the two cars are very similar. I can't say anything on the petrol versions because I haven't driven either of them. Overall, for almost the same money, I think the 2008 is better value for a small family. Thanks for your reviews Marek:-)! I really like them.

      Just the peugeot is so dull and ugly especially in the flesh. the silver material around the door handles and centre console look like cheap junk from halfords and is really badly fitted and finished. The lump above the back door with the huge lump of chrome looks terrible!! and steering wheel looks nasty and cheap. I was 50/50 on both but after seeing both of them and test driving them both we picked the captur as we are still fairly young and haven't died in side like you feel looking at the 3008

      Well, since the last post six months ago, we actually bought a 2008. The Allure with the 1.6 e-hdi 92bhp. I can say we like it very much.
      What we like about the 2008:
      - the fuel consumption. On a daily 120km commute the average fuel consumption is in the 3.2 - 3.8 l/100km area (summer vs. winter), with around 90km of 2 lane national road and 30km of very busy morning and after-noon city traffic
      - the interior - pleasant materials on the seats (leather and textile) and dash-board
      - the steering - very light and easy to park in the tightest spaces
      - the steering wheel - it's small, vith a good leather cover and gives a sporty feeling
      - the air conditioning - the fact that you can choose a different temperature for the driver or for the passenger - the Captur didn't have that
      - the back seats - they fold very nicely, givind a completely flat surface. We actually used this as a bed on a mountain trip and it was comfortable enough :-)
      - the roof bars - the Captur does not have them.
      - the panoramic roof :-)
      What we don.t like about the 2008:
      - the reverse light - it's positioned too low in the rear bumper and it's only on the right side. It's almost useless without the rear parkind sensors at night.
      - the rear window - seems to be made out of plastic and sometimes gives some weird noises when you close the boot door.
      - the boot door gathers a lot of dirt in the rainy days and in the winter and you always get your hands dirty when you open the boot.
      - the 17 inch wheels with the all-season standard tires - horrible on the city streets and country roads - we changed them for 15 inch alloys and the ride got a lot smoother.
      On the looks side, I think both cars have some things to like and some things to hate about. I'm 30 and my wife is 27, so I don't think the 2008 can be considered an old people's car. Our choise was based mainly on the versatility of the car... so it's a matter of satisfying one's preferences for a thing or another.

      @@flibbertigibbet6200 I agree with you, Peugeot 2008 and Volkwagen Tiguan Motion (older models) and Skoda all look like granny's car, the back side is just horrendous-looking!

    Hi very good video,what is your rating with Opel Mokka 1.7 Automatic & Renault Captur 1.5 dci Automatic

      I haven't driven either of the automatic diesels, so I can't say.

    Hi Marek!
    First, thank you for the great reviews, keep up the good job 😁
    I've watched this many times, and I'm
    Currently debating wether getting this or the new Suzuki Vitara :)
    So, can you tell me which one is more noisy on the highway 110-130km/h ?
    And maybe tell me which one you'd recommend? :) it's either this or the 5 gear Vitara 😣

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Morten Bonderup Both are noisy at motorway speed, but with Vitara you get more car for the money.

      +Marek Drives wow, quick answer!
      Well, I thought so ;) hmm, which has the best interior and rear seats in your opinion?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Morten Bonderup If you want a decent looking interior you'll have to go for top spec in both cases. Renault is a bit more fun, but Suzuki is better quality. And I think Suzuki has slightly more space.

    Love your descriptive and detailed reviews! We only get the 1.5 dCi 90 with EDC here and I am deciding between this and the 2008 with e-HDi and ETG6. Could you tell me which transmission/engine combo is more responsive?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Tan I can't say, I've never driven an automatic 2008. I wouldn't expect a big difference.

    so how is this better than and equivalently equipped and powered clio?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more fun, more spacious, better visibility, better interior finish (Renault fixed some problems I remember from the early 2013 Clio), clever touches, like the removable seat covers, huge glovebox, sliding bench.

    I'd love to buy this car but a 0.9, 3 cylinder engine for such a big car what's designed to carry 4 people and plenty of cargo in the boot? No way. The 1.2 is automatic only? Not good.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @PaulHojda
