Shawn said both he and Brooke thought it was likely V15

Shawn Raboutou and Brook also didn't do the climb. What Drew actually said is, "i wouldn’t disagree with 15", followed up with, "That’s kinda where I’m coming from with id believe 15 or 16 for box, tbh there isn’t too too much difference between stout v15 and soft v16"

The comments calling/asking/wondering for a downgrade are shameful and clearly the sign of a wide misogyny problem in the climbing community.
And that's not because Box Therapy is "definitely V16" (maybe it's V15), it's because people proposed it's V15 after that Katie climbed it.
As if it's another factor for a downgrade "can't be V16 if it was climbed by a woman"
Same shit with Jane Vinkourcova, Terranova was hyped by Will Bosi as possibly being harder than V16 but then a relatively unknown woman does all the moves in 2 days?
Then it must be because her new beta makes the boulder easier and it should be downgraded.
The fastest and easiest way for convincing the community that a hard boulder must be downgraded is to have a woman climb it.
At least with Jane we now have those wonderful session vids of her and Will climbing on it together. I dare anyone to say that shit any more. When the 2nd ascender of the world's hardest boulder is making it look NAILS.
@@chuffer595 yeah, but it's sad that Will has to come back to try and "struggle" (not do the boulder in 3 days) while borrowing some of Jane's beta for the guys to shut up.
Otherwise you could be sure there would be talk about Jane's short people beta being different and "clearly" making the boulder way easier.

no one is saying that its just common sense that if she cant do 15 and does this one in only seven sessions it seems easier than 16, no? thays just commons sense has nothing to do with her being a woman. Also think someone like janja has now been robbed of a true to grade send of a 16 down the line. katie cant even compare to world cup competitors strength so why would i believe she is sending the hardest stuff outside ?

Legendary status is reserved for people that are actually Legendary and someone that is still young and actively climbing isn't a fucking legend

First off: this is truly amazing news. I'm so happy to hear about this great climbing accomplishment. Congratulations Katie!
Now, I have no personal opinion about this grade, because I have neither climbed this climb or any climb close to V16 (or 15 or 14...) That said, I do notice that when people climb problems in their own style they are significantly more likely to downgrade a problem. If shorter people (Brooke, Shawn, Drew, etc.) are climbing this problem and saying it might be lower than V16, it might be because most American boulderers are taller. So when they suggest V14 or V15 on other climbs (and not V16) they feel much harder than that for Shawn, Brooke, Daniel, etc. Then, when the shorter/lighter climbers get on crimpier problems without gigantic reaches or wide pinches, they doubt whether it can be a V16 because it "felt easier" for them. When a climber the size of Jimmy Webb finishes the problem and also downgrades it to V15, then that's when the serious discussion begins for me.

Can someone please ask about the logistics of carrying a dozen crash pads 6 miles?? Are we stashin pads now? If she sent solo how'd she then get all the pads out? Idk why but this is one of the most burning questions I have on this send lol.
Lots of people stash pads and cover them with tarps at projects that are far in the mountains.
