  • One mile west of the Arch Rock Entrance to The Valley is Parkline Slab. It overlooks El Portal and sits just inside the park boundary. There are many fun climbs from 5.7-5.11 that range from 1-8 pitches. Flying in the Mountains is a modern-style route which consists of sustained 5.9 & 5.10-climbing with a couple of well protected 5.11a cruxes. Crack, slab, even some chill OW movement - this climb has it all.

Question for you guys: Is that a rope or a cable that was hanging down to your left through the first half of the video? It appears to be there post-climb as well? Awesome looking climb, btw!

LOVE this climb. So glad we have people like Sean Jones still putting up amazing routes like this. And great video!

Man, why don't you guys start your films by taking some good shots of the rock so viewers can see what the thing looks like that you're climbing, give us a chance to appreciate what it is and what you're seeing before you climb, without a fisheye lens warped look that you get with those go-pro cams, BEFORE you inevitably switch over to those damned go-pros and make viewers dizzy with all the constant movement, fisheyed headache-makers... seriously. I like what you're doing: climbing Yosemite trad stuff, but the way you do your filmmaking really leaves something to be desired. I know without a proper crew you are basically stuck with helmet cams but...

I can guarantee that you're not going to any kind of response from the climbers with an attitude like that . . .

@@princenabby1 What? You don't know what you're talking about. I don't want a response. That's not the point. I'm a climber who's also a former film student. These guys don't know how to make films, so getting some constructive criticism is something they can do a lot more with than with comments that just say "cool!" A case in point: check out their newer film about the climb Freestone. In that film, unlike this one, they do make use of the "establishing shot" more than once, giving viewers a clear view of the terrain and the wall they intend to climb before getting on it. The result is a much better film.
