If its eating batteries that quickly youre either using really crappy batteries or your unit is screwed up. I e got half a dozen if these things between three different houses. I use rayovac AA batteries. Plain old alkaline batteries. They will last 6 months easily. I use them non stop as a matter of fact one unit has been opening on its own for the past week. About every 5 mins it opens for no reason. Still going strong. Too late now but ill bet you got a screwed up unit. I love these things. Very handy and a bonus is it scares the crap out of the dogs and people that arent used to them. Good times
@@andrearuffino actually no. Im tinking it is due to low batteries. The motor is getting old as is the whole thing. There was a point where batteries were left in it and the corided. I recently tore two of them down completely cleaning all contacts and scrounging around for a suitable motor. It was starting to go thru batteries quicker than normal. Its either that or my buddy who was fascinated with the thought of an auto opening trash can who died right before this started openening on its own playing with it in the after life.
@@davidreynolds4684 I just saw a video that may have the answer. He recommends removing the label over the motion sensor. I did it and it is working fine, so far. th-cam.com/video/SUp8InyBUB0/w-d-xo.html
Ours used the same batteries for 1 and 3 months then it got really slow and then stopped working. We assumed it was batteries so we replaced them. Still won’t work so now we have to buy another trash can. I won’t be buying another electric trash can.

My can opens but won’t close. U know why?
There is a cam inside by motor. Not sure how it exactly works but i believe it senses position of door.
