Hi, tank looks great! I have few advices. Give him more things to climb, use the height you have. Also you must have a thermostat to control the temperature emitted by the heaters. I suggest you move the UVB to the middle, and add more places to hide, so he can choose UVB or not, UVB during heating or UVB in cool side, etc. . Get a higher humid hide, looks pretty small. Hot spot should be around 94-96F, warm side around 86-92F and cool side 70-76F. Make hot spot of some flat rock or something like that a bit higher and closer to heat source, so you will have a temperature gradient (hot spot and warm side). If he needs it really hot, he will go to his hot spot, if he doesn't need it, he will go to the warm side, and if he wants to cool down, he will go to his cool side.
Natural corkbark and real plants leopard geckos love I have several different leopard geckos they are all in Natural enclosures and they are just loving it . Just some tips if u like .prayers sorry for your loss hun
I would suggest creating something like a ledge system to utilize the space. And/ or some big sturdy wood pieces could work. It's probably a good idea to run your heat sources on thermostats.
You should really sift the topsoil to get rid of any objects like big rocks. I even found some plastics in my bags of Scott’s topsoil. Also bake it in the oven for at least 30 mins at 180F in case there are any fungus gnats.
I just found your channel sorry 😔 for your lost and keep up the good work I just subscribed to your channel you have a great and wonderful and genuine down to earth kind of energy and personality 😊 keep up the good work
40 gallons really isn’t enough space. 18x18x36 is the absolute minimum. I would suggest PVC enclosures as well. Glass really isn’t great. Wooden vivs are also good. I would recommend putting a lot more clutter and things for him to climb on. Reptiles are VERY expensive. I just spent $3000 on two 4 foot PVC enclsoures, 3D background, ledges, hides, from customreptilehabitats I know it’s a lot of money but reptiles are a privilege. They’re a great company. With that being said this is a MUCH better option then the 20 gallon.
Thank you so much for your comment & letting me know of this! I really appreciate any advice!! I’m very new to reptile keeping and will be improving my set ups more and more as time goes on! :)
Your joking right...? 20 gallon long tank is the MIMINUM, and 40 gallons is literally doubling that. And glass is ok too. Idk why ur criticizing everything
40 gallons is 36x18x18. Glass is awesome for leopard geckos because it allows you to easily make humidity spikes and dry out fast, just like in the wild, plus they don't need temperatures very hot like bearded dragons would need it so it's really not a problem that they lose heat.
@@ch3m1c4l_c0ff1n 40 gallons is beginning to become the minimum for adult leopard geckos, while 20 gallons is only accepted for juveniles depending on which group you ask. 120 gallons is considered more ideal, and in some other countries is the legal minimum. Times are changing.
Here a good affordable online site to help u get what you need for your leopard gecko its LLL Reptile they are amazing site I order all my reptiles supplies on there. The best substrate for them is actually coco husk with repti soil and u got to be careful with how much peat moss and any kind of moss in leopard gecko cage just keep eye during feedings

40 gallons is a really good size and your gecko looks happy you're doing a really good job i would only say add some ramps to utilize all that space

I agree with more clutter but I just don’t get why you think 40 gallons isn’t enough space especially for a leopard gecko

Why do you say that's the best substrate?
no its not best substrate. best one is 2 parts top soil and 1 part play-sand. also paper towels for non-loose substrate
