This man is a salve on the wound of hatred. His candor and vulnerability is his gift to all those who may be suffering in a similar way.
He gives the best interviews. So honest, authentic and open. Celebrities today don’t do that. They give rehearsed answers that aren’t as deep or honest.
Billy Porter’s words were so powerful!
I am so moved by this amazing man. I don't know his journey but for those of us willing to hear it there is much to be learned. Thank you Mr. Porter for your bravery and selflessness in sharing yourself. The truth shall set you free, God Bless.
until i heard those words shame shame shame did i get it. i was raped at age 5 and it continued until the age 13. and the funny thing is, that people who have never been in that situation will never know. growing up in the church and the feeling of i was bad for allowing my self to be raped at 5 carried on with me until this very day. the guilt and the shame that followed me. the fact that something was taken away form me, and me not knowing who i am, or whom i could have been. because all of the stigmatization that goes along with rape and what others think of those who have been. the fact that as a boy i was not allowed to determine for my self my sexual identity. my first ever sex was with a male. and now im confused. am i suppose to like girls, how would i know if for the first sexual experiences were with a male. does that make one gay. and this is where the shame comes into play. as i later learned it to be called. homophobic obsessive compulsive disorder. afraid that im gay. but trapped in a world that wont allow you to even expose it. the guilt the shame of knowing another side of the sexual experience.
I don’t know to much of this man. I am crying watching this. I will do my research and learn more about this fabulous man!!

I feel bad about myself when I wear a dress to the point of a panic attack. Not because I think I looked bad, but because I feel like I’m not respected and I feel exposed.

im at a horrible, horrible place in my life and when i see billy i just cry. not tears of sadness, but more hope and comfort. hes such a comforting person to watch (and read - im reading this book at the moment. definitely recommend it. DEFINITELY) and he makes me actually have some hope, even if that hope is the size of a teaspoon its still there.
