  • Prison Preacher dropped off his wife sportster for a 20,000 mile service and some other miscellaneous work. Primary of which was a oil leak on the rear cylinder head at the rocker box cover. Turns out there is a new style gasket that’s updated to prevent premature failures but we also ran into a problem where previously one of the rocker box covers bolts was over torqued and pulled the aluminum threads out.

      He did and I’ve already replaced the gaskets on the front cylinder as well. But I have to run out today and get the quarter 20 thread repair kit because I did not have one here like I thought it would

    Note that it's almost always on the kickstand side of the bike and at the forward corner of the front cylinder and the rear corner of the rear cylinder that oil leaks occur. They are the two lowest corners and where oil accumulates when the bike is parked (which is most of the time). That's gravity at work.

    Actually, the highest quality gaskets are aftermarket gaskets.

    18:56 I purchased a 91 1200xlh a month ago I found the rocket boxes leaked so once I removed the rear rocker box plates and flipped the bottom plate over I noticed that the rear center head bolt has been digging into the bottom of that bottom plate the bike ran fine so I'm not quite sure why the bottom of that rocker Plat would have a gouge that is the size of a half of a penny and IA just deeper than a thumb nail can you please tell me what I need to look for please thank you!

      I would definitely check that the head bolt is secure, there should be plenty of clearance.

    Good video question I put my Harley on a jack lift to clean my rims after that I decided to start it because it’s been a while since I ran it started it in neutral and the rear tire started to roll forward is that normal thanks

    • @thebeardedguyjefflawless5887
      @thebeardedguyjefflawless5887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that is completely normal when the engine is running things are still moving and even with the motorcycle in neutral the input shaft on the transmission is still spinning, and however it is not fully engaged to the output shaft. without any load to hold the wheel still you will still see that movement

    We have a 2015 HD Electric Glide Ultra Classic and I'm using Amsoil oil. How many miles do you recommend I change the oil?
    Thanks Doberman

    • @amsoiladam
      @amsoiladam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you were using Amsoil and the Amsoil filter on a Harley Davidson you were safe up to 10,000 miles or once per year
