Imagine what happens to a 10 yr-old when you're surrounded by psychedelic artwork and music like this. That's what happened to me. What a trip and I'm still tripping. Thank you BestDream for all the incredible music you post!
I remember listing to this a lot when I worked at an ice cream store in Houston, Texas in the late 90s. My boss had an ice cream cone tattooed on his neck.
I just obtained an original vinyl copy of the album on Sunburst Records! Great album, but getting harder & harder to obtain original vinyl on a lot of these releases, unless you won the lottery! It's one thing to find one of these old psych releases, but then some are so rare you need megabucks, which sadly I don't have, but grateful I was able to obtain this release by The Zoo!
Yet don't know this group and their album. But already like the game they play with the english word moose and the french term mousse (au chocolat). At least I got it this way.😃
@@strat0871 There were Wisconsin and a Florida garage bands named Zoo during the same time as well. There was a Chicago band called Lincoln Street Zoo "67
I imagine they got the idea for the title from a line spoken by Ruth Gordon’s character in the film, “Rosemary’s Baby”. Both this album and the movie were released the same year, 1968.
@@oki5289 Thanks for the reminder. U2 had the Zoo Tour (Zooropa) "92-"93. The Scorpions had a song The Zoo ,"80. Sinon & Garfunkel had a song The Zoo '68. It's likely there are a few more ""Zoo'''' band names or songs. ☮️

I suspect Fine Young Cannibals got more than a little inspiration for Good Thing from the song Written in the Wind here. The Zoo even mention "good thing" in the lyrics.

An awesome mix of hard driving blues, garage, buble gum, psychodelic masterpiece.

From Los Angeles.
Four stars for the LP,
Four stars for the musicians.
No, points taken away.
Thanks for this West Coast gem.
Ten short tracks. Ten great songs that leave you craving for more of this L.A. psych.
1968 was a fabulous year, for music and it was the year I arrived into the world. NICE!!
Same here...
Howard Leese and Mike Flicker went on to superstardom with HEART. They were teenagers here. I have three original copies of this. What a gem!
These gems you and others with magnificent collections are AWESOME....great music!

Excellent, many thanks.
dawno na tym kanale nie słyszałem tak elektryzującej i porywającej muzyki ;]
Solid album...Zoo strong! My first listen. They remind me a little of Spirit. Rock on!

I don't have a sweet tooth but someone pass me the chocolate moose😈🍫😈 A slice of sickly sweet magickal psychedelic blues 😈😈😈
What sets this apart is its Sly and Family Stone influenced rhythm. You can see where certain bands like Pixies and Shins took ideas...

There was also a french progressive rock group named "zoo" at that time.

Roger Dean was busy working on the Relayer cover so they got this instead. Close enough ;)

The cover resembles a Roger Dean work.
Guys from Heart?
Flicker and Leese
Terry Gottlieb the bass player also played on the early HEART albums. He went with Howard and Mike to Vancouver two years after this album.
Ain't Nobody originally by Aretha Franklin; nice cover!
Sounds like Gerry and the Pacemakers meets Jefferson Airplane
William Mitchell
Sometimes sounding like a psychedelic Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels
First!
Good stuff!
This is one expensive record if you want the vinyl
I paid 250 for a copy!! Don't do that often!
