Chrons is transmural when ulcerative colitis is mucosal and submucosal , so it can damage ganglion cells in muscularis propria thus paralyzing the colonic smooth muscle and leading to dilatation. (toxic megacolon. ) Whereas chrons damage through and through the wall , and submucosal fibrosis and muscularis hypertrophy starts causing strictures
@@pranay5253 non toxic megacolon is seen in both ulcerative colits and chrons disease, its just that ulcerative colitis is more associated with toxic megacolon as compared to chrons disease

One silly doubt...y not toxic megacolon in crohns but in uc ?? Crohns is transmural na mam??
Chrons is transmural when ulcerative colitis is mucosal and submucosal , so it can damage ganglion cells in muscularis propria thus paralyzing the colonic smooth muscle and leading to dilatation. (toxic megacolon. )
Whereas chrons damage through and through the wall , and submucosal fibrosis and muscularis hypertrophy starts causing strictures
Dr Vandana Puri cool mam..sry fr asking ..thought crohns also damages the muscular propria so asked.
Thanks mam
@@pranay5253 u should always ask ..its becoz there is fibrosis and strictures...so doesnt show abnormal dilations which can be seen in UC
Dr Vandana Puri thanks so much mam fr the encouragement..you’re the coolest..
Actually felt bad that I asked a very lame doubt.
@@pranay5253 non toxic megacolon is seen in both ulcerative colits and chrons disease, its just that ulcerative colitis is more associated with toxic megacolon as compared to chrons disease
