Anyone coming here that happens to play Terraria, I have included this version of "Zanza" in a music mod! The mod replaces all of the normal music tracks in the game with Xenoblade tracks. Check it out here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2454973271
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this song sounds better mashed together. God Slaying Sword mixes incredibly well too, while the DE version's bass is great it's lacking in the treble in a way the original nailed, so it just sounds absolutely perfect together.
Aye, I tried out a version of god slaying sword for myself, though i've not uploaded it because I didn't think the effect was as significant as it is on this track.
@@rex_yaldabaoth Fair enough, I personally was a bit miffed by having barely any treble in DE so I suppose I noticed it more than most lol. Regardless, good stuff.
...so here's a unusual realization. ...zanza's United form is literally a chimera. Wings, scorpion hands, fish shoulder blades, spirit husk of a lion with a human body in the center, he's literally a possessed chimera
I mean, i've always felt that each part of his body (especially in phase 2) is meant to represent part of the world that he created. The right hand, the Bionis (with less grass), the left hand, the Mechonis, and then the lower body resembling the telethia. Has the corresponding monado in their representative hands too.
Oh I mean, I'm sure there's plenty that could be done to tidy this up. The most editing I did is cut one version (because the DE version looped for longer) to be the same length as the other, and use audacity to put in the fade out. And like, lining the tracks up.
Hmm... it's very good, very nice to have both the strong piano and flourishes of the remaster as well as the booming distortions and gongs of the original, and the merged choir is fun as well. But overall I think it sounds a bit... busy. There's a little too much going on to really fully appreciate it. I don't know how much better the mixing could be done without access to the source recordings, though.
Yeah, i've generally found when trying to make mixes like these the real issue is the doubled up percussion, it just kinda... overtakes everything else, and is really hard to sync up (due to like, natural minute variations in like, human playing). But I'd have no idea how to filter it out or edit it or whatever without having the individual instrument sections separated. Some kind of low or high pass filter might do it but that's getting a bit beyond my skills of just fuckin around in audacity.
@@rex_yaldabaoth perhaps a better approach would be to take just one version as a base and selectively add in elements from the other, whether by taking from it or by recreating the bits from scratch. Or more rudimentarily just dynamic volume mixing/splicing through the song. But that's always easier said than done, isn't it? 😅
Probably, but some of them get awkward. For example, Agniratha day, the intro of the piece is full of pauses, which means you just can't overlay them, as they don't fit rhythmically (trust me, I tried) and the rest barely sounds any different. And stuff like sword valley night and refugee camp have differing tempos from the originals that I didn't quite figure out.

"Behold the true form of a united world!"
THE FUTURE.. DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU.

*"Did You... No! How Can You Still Have Visions?!"*
It's pretty damn cool getting the neat new flourishes of the DE version with the heavier tone of the original.

Zanza the Combined
Amazing
Holy shit, this nails fusing them together. Absolutely my go to version to listen to now
"Mine is the one true Monado, instrument of destruction and rebirth!"
*"I Shall Wipe You From This World & Bring Forth This Demise!"*
FINALLY! I found a good version of this!
It's absolutely amazing that in this mashup I can hear my favorite parts from both the original and the remaster. I'm truly glad that this exists !
This deserves more attention. This is amazing!
That's great. Can you make an extended version of this please?
Done, sorry it took so long.
@@rex_yaldabaoth Don't sorry. It was a request, not a demand. I'm thankful you actually did it. Plenty others would've just ignored me.

@@rex_yaldabaoth it'd probably help if there was a way to see zanza's full model.
Even 3d doesn't do that with the model viewer
Or a demiurge, that’d make more sense as he is a god of evil pretty much
i like this
I like how this, imo, is better than both of them individually. Although I’d edit out the older drum transition at 1:20

@@rex_yaldabaoth do you plan on making an even more tidied-up version of this? If you don’t want to, you did a super good job nonetheless
@@FirstNameLastName-gq4tb I might at some point, I dunno. I guess I'll see the next time I'm messing with mixing stuff in audacity.

Can you post this on sound cloud???? Please I need it there
This should fucking be Zamasu's theme. I love this song so much

This pleases even me, and i am notoriously picky.
oh hell yeah
Are you gonna do more mashups of original and DE? You should
