On behalf of Gor thank you all so much for your lovely comments and a huge thank you to Jonny and the team for doing this and sharing this beauty with you all.

Hi David, I live in Summerhill 5 mins away and own a 76 e3 it's the four door saloon version would love to pop over in it some time to take a look at the e9. Lovely cars and great video!!
There must be someone influential at BMW who thinks to himself 'Why don't we start making stylish, beautiful drivers cars again?' - Early BMW's are easily the pinnacle of beautiful cars.
Totally agree as the owner of a M235i Gran Coupe 21 plate. Its a great driving car but BMW have been systematically beating their recent cars with the ugly stick and my Gran Coupe looks OK from the rear but definitely has ugly stick pretensions elsewhere.
@@davidhoughton273Yeah companies need to make money look at the state of Porsche in the early 90’s BMW do make nice cars it’s just called nostalgia everyone always thinks the past was better but in 50 the same will be said about M3 CSL etc And I think 2002’s were part of a few companies fleets in Germany in the 70’s I could bet
When he said £400 I was terrified that it was going to be the 1 that I missed out on for £375 in 1985. That 1 was white with Martini stripes, the lad took me out in it and absolutely horsed it, I'll never forget his words: "some tool isn't it?" It certainly was, we agreed on 375 and I went to get the money from my Mam, when I finally got back to him the next day someone had gazumped me with 400. I'm still not over it
Gor seems like quite the character. He obviously loves his E9 - evident in his finding a garage for it as a priority. Even though he hasn't been able to recommission it for the road over the years, it seems like he's made a concerted effort to prevent it deteriorating any further. It was lovely to see the condition of the engine bay, boot, and interior. I'm sure his diligence paid off with how easily that engine turned over and struck up once Jonny and Tony gave it the once-over. Another great barn find video, and one I particularly hope comes back to the channel with a happy update in the future!
Thank you so much for this comment. We are working to help steer Gor to find the right company who will recommission it in the way he can afford and then use it, probably with tatty paint as-is. We think Gor got quite emotional during the day, and realised he ought to get this beautiful car on the road before he's too old.
Gotta love a Tony BMW episode! All hail the Can of Hope! Definitely becoming a fan of these early beamers too; never gave them a second glance when I was a sprog in the 70s and 80s but looking at them now they're just lovely.

This was wonderful, i think if it can be made tidy and road legal and just use it, no need for a full on resto. Definitely a keeper. And what a nice place Saundersfoot is.
The unfortunate reality is it's going to sit in that garage for the next x years while it continues to rot. Hopefully the owner will see sense and sell it on to someone who will restore it and use it again.

Let’s hope I can muster the necessary funds. Johnny crowd fund this car to get it restored, it is beautiful, crazy as it seems I love the colour too. Worked at Dick Lovett Swindon 1979 and these cars and the 4 door versions came in for servicing, so remember them well, don't remember this colour tho😊
It's a real shame that this car doesn't have a grill about 20 times bigger than the original classic, said no one ever. Just a beautiful car. I hope you revisit this in a year or two to drive it and chat about the restoration that cost £450
haha yep, new Beemers are designed for crass Chinese tastes in mind. Hopefully now that China's economy is in permanent freefall with Western manufacturers leaving in droves the Chinese market will stop having such a horrible influence on car designs.
Gor, Ive just fallen in love with it too, what a beautiful car, save it, cherish it, daily driver !, Mutts nuts mate 👍 I bought a 2002 i when i was seventeen, drove it 5 mins into town to get the insurance and got side swioed by a truck, right off, no insurance, gutted, always regretted that, but, yiung and stupid!. Tony BMW, your a goat, hats off to you. And thank you once again Johnny for a great discovery, damn your good at this shit 😂
Credit to Gor for carefully storing it for all these years, its literally frozen in time! Loved the excitement when it pulled out of the garage under its own steam for the first time, its a beautiful piece of BMW history, good luck with its onward journey! 😊
My E9 was sitting for 4 months last year (typical due to weather). I used that time to slowly replace the starter that turned into a few other engine projects. Once everything was back together, I turned the engine to test the starter and get some lube going (I had fogged the cylinders). It immediately sparked up and started running. I still had the garage door closed because I did not expect it to fire up without some turning for 10-20 seconds. I was shocked. Old BMWs and that old M30 engine are bullet proof.
How come I love these videos so much when I have no knowledge of mechanicals, engineering and would be totally inept at repairing anything? Keep up the great work Jonny, another fab show.
The part that was smoking is not a transistor, it's a resistor. Not sure about BMW but in Australian cars from Ford, GM & Chrysler it's in series with the coil & drops the voltage so a 6 or 9 volts coil is used. The resistor is bypassed during the starting/cranking so you get full battery volts on the coil, ence a fatter spark & easier start up.
Wow, I live in the area and it’s mad to think what’s hidden away in the garages just down the rd, brilliant and love the fact you had lunch from the Chemist 🤜
Great presentation, and superb to see the start of another E9 being brought back to the road. In 2008 we bought a 3.0csi, awesome car to drive, cruises along well, and can still hustle through the corners. Such an elegant profile, with the windows down, always brings a smile to the face!
Here's hoping Jonny's (and Tony BMW's) visit and their encouragements spur Gor on to spend what's needed to get the car to pass MOT! The car obviously wants to get back on the road and I, for one, would thoroughly enjoy follow-on 'Late Brake Show' video 're-visits' to show how the owners (or new owners) have refurbished the finds and get them simply roadworthy.
Thank you. Yeah, a revisit is on the cards, and we are trying to guide Gor to book the car in with someone reputable to get the ball rolling. He wants to drive it and enjoy it before it's too late.
We used to go on holiday to Saundersfoot in our Mini Clubman estate in the mid 80s - one morning we got up to find the B&B owner on his hands and knees in the car park saying he’d never seen a Clubman with the original sills 😂
@patricklilly …yes, my sentiments entirely, glad you enjoyed the show and a big thanks to Jonny and his team for being so professional. It made my day when she fired up instantly for the first time in years, and I was so pleased to see Tony BMW finally driving her out of the garage. The production team have done a first class job with filming and editing the video, I’m blown away with the amount of views, likes and comments it’s getting, and I’m so pleased to know that so many people have enjoyed this episode. Jonny is currently chatting to various bodyshop specialists about this project, and he’s hoping to make a return visit here to make an update once the necessary repairs are completed. I look forward to that day, and hope to see my e9 make a second appearance on The Late Brake Show. …🕊️❤️🕊…

Love the support from Gor's partner as well! It's nice to see that it matters to both of them.
Haha that's my missus 😂 she'd had a couple of glasses of wine with lunch 🤣
Nice to see a bran find editon where a car starts, fantastic!
The jack was the exact same colour as the car, chances of that ?
Thanks again Mr Smith and always nice getting another visit from Mr BMW
Stunning opening scene, what a beautiful place. Tony BMW is awesome. Hope it gets restored
It's glorious!
Tony BMW is such calm and understated chap. Another brilliant barn find episode!
Tony = car guru
That car will be utterly spectacular when it's restored!
Johnny crowd fund this car to get it restored, it is beautiful, crazy as it seems I love the colour too. Worked at Dick Lovett Swindon 1979 and these cars and the 4 door versions came in for servicing, so remember them well, don't remember this colour tho😊
As a classic BMW fan, TH-cam doesn’t get any better than these barn finds for me. Absolutely love it! Cheers Johnny
Look forward to seeing this on Yorkshire Car Restoration next. Amazing car in a great colour!
Gor, Ive just fallen in love with it too, what a beautiful car, save it, cherish it, daily driver !, Mutts nuts mate 👍
I bought a 2002 i when i was seventeen, drove it 5 mins into town to get the insurance and got side swioed by a truck, right off, no insurance, gutted, always regretted that, but, yiung and stupid!.
The smile on that man's face, tells us how happy he is, you lot came to help!
That was glorious! I LOVE the E9. I think it's just the most beautiful car ever built. I LOVE it in this colour.
A dream car. I absolutely love early 70s BMWs.
Difficult to believe how beautiful BMWs used to be (when you see them today)….
My father had 2 E9 BMW's in the early 80s, a 3.0 CSI and a 3.0 CSL, I wish he'd kept them as they are worth a lot of money now.
Hi mate I used Tesco baby wipes on my leather seats came up a treat .....love the videos carry on the good work lads. Regards Steve.
A perfect barn find with a great story to go with it. Thank you Jonny,Tony BMW and the cars owner Gore. Cheers
I cannot beleive it fired up so easily, what a beauty of a Beemer! And what a lovely Chap Gor is.
Great to see TonyBMW and his can of hope again.
How come I love these videos so much when I have no knowledge of mechanicals, engineering and would be totally inept at repairing anything? Keep up the great work Jonny, another fab show.
Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for reminding us. Jonny totally forgot the correct name that day.
I'm love the selection of old barn finds but it also the amazing owners and personality's who we get to meet as well. love the LBS
I remember seeing one at the 1971 LA Autoshow it was silver on a turntable and I thought it was the most beautiful car I had seen
Yet another forst-class video. Packed with interest and information, pleasant tempo and no annoying background music.
I hope he can get the funds together. Lovely car.
Nice Tony get it back on the road mate and great work jonny and all
Wonderful car you guys are brilliant
Thank you for all these fantastic videos:)
He wants to drive it and enjoy it before it's too late.
great video - would love to see Yorkshire Car Restorations get their hands on this one.
100 percent amazing Johnny you done it again
👍🏽 Tony bmw was the hero...
Man...I would love to have one of those old BMWs. Truly a classic beauty. Great barn find rescue.
BMWs in the 70s/80s were such good looking cars.
That’s was fantastic.. larger Can of Hope😂And the Car how sweet is that engine
We used to go on holiday to
Saundersfoot in our Mini Clubman estate in the mid 80s - one morning we got up to find the B&B owner on his hands and knees in the car park saying he’d never seen a Clubman with the original sills 😂
likewise have memories of my dads vauxhall firenza breaking down on the way to a static caravanning holiday early 80`s at Saundersfoot..😆😊
Beautiful car that deserves to be fully restored back to its former glory.
I LOVE this video!
Thanks to all involved in making it.
To see that beautiful little e9 fire up was a real treat!
…🕊️❤️🕊…
Gor’s wife/gf was just as excited as he was. He’s a lucky man indeed
@richardbrowne2447
…😂 haha, your not the first person to make that comment, but you’re mistaken.
She’s a very good friend of mine, my mate Dave’s partner. (Dave is the guy who alerted Jonny about my e9)
…🕊️❤️🕊️… Gor x
Gor sounds like the sort of guy you could easily pass a night at a hotel bar with and then the next day you wouldn't be able to remember half of the amazing stories he told you :=)
The E9 was a beautiful car. It's now time to get the restoration it deserves. 😊
Now that is a nice car, Jonny. It deserves to be saved, especially after it's response to the Can of Hope. Good luck to Gore.
That's a man that's seen things and has stories
Great episode, I know his feeling, I have a 635 csi 79, bought in 97, drove it a couple of months, been sitting sad in my garage ever since
As you say am amazing survivor. Not messed about with. Good luck getting it back on the road.
