Yes, slowing it down to half speed was helpful to me as well. I am usually good at imagining the topology of sewing, but this one caught me by surprise! I’m still trying to “see” in my mind how sewing the “ring” at the shoulder turns it into invisibly hemmed in the end! It all ends up magically inside! 😂

We did that same technique with the shoulder straps back in the 50s when I was learning to sew. I've used it many times since.

I wish you’d written a note to say what it is for example, sleeveless reversible top. Although I realise that doesn’t tell us the genius of totally hidden seams. I get it because over 40 years ago when I was young, I learnt this method for a facing on a sleeveless dress. It’s good on sleeveless tops because the facings will never stick out. Very clever to use this method to make a reversible top. As long as the double layers are not too hot to wear together.

I don't know who invented the method (probably someone in the garment industry, where such construction techniques are common), but I saw a similar thing on Sewing With Nancy MANY years ago. It's also very easy to do using a serger (except for the final shoulder seams). I have used that method to make vests and reversible tops, similar to the one in this video, but with both layers the same length. It's a fun technique and very satisfying. Thanks for the peppy video!

Wow. I have the worst time sewing lined garments without instructions - can't visualize what to sew first so it will still turn right side out. I mostly sew Barbie clothes, so I'd have to do some hand sewing to achieve this, but it was amazing to see!
