If I’m not mistaken, Joro are one species of spider that will live communally, and several of these (maybe three of the largest ones) in the video look like smaller females. But they do like to keep their males around in the web too!!! It’s a bit rarer to see females sharing a web, but if resources let them, they will.
They are big enough they can bite (the females are anyway), but they’re fairly docile and the bite is likened to a bee sting. As long as you aren’t allergic, no medical attention aside from keeping a watch for infection is needed. And here in Georgia, they eat another invasive species, the brown stinkbug, and those seem to be their favorite :)
I like them because they've killed off all the horrible flying pests in our yard. No more stink bugs, biting flies, horse flies, house flies, Japanese beetles, none of those miserable things. And they've killed off the much creepier looking red legged spiders that used to hang everywhere. And I found that if I knock down the low-hanging webs, they won't build back in that same spot, but move up higher. They must be smart for a spider! They're welcome on my property as long as they go on killing those flying pestilences.
Never know who or what is in a China shipping container. They pass through Watkinsville Ga all day long. I got a shotgun after the big spiders that took over my farm in Ga. Been blasting away! one even jumped on me. Almost shot myself in the foot! Thanks to the import business.
Grab a Shotgun and gas! We can thank the shipping container business and the rich people that run the import business across America. Never know who or what is in a shipping container.
Sounds like no proactive attempt to inform the public to kill-on-sight was made when first discovered. Does not sound like the first few were killed. That'll do it-just one pregnant female stowed away on board, or just one egg case stuck to the underside of a vegetable pallet.
I don't usually see so many males, your yard is like a Joro sausage party

Oh my goodness! A tarantula is lurking while every human gets into the R.E.M cycle.
They're completely harmless
Yes :) Their fangs can't even break human skin.
That's good to know but they still kinda make me nervous

Real cool, beautiful spider
Fire. Lots of fire.
Joro's are harmless and actually eat stink bugs so leave them be!

At least they are harmless to humans.
Thought I saw the last of them when I left Vietnam.
😂😂😂
So they work in teams as a group as long as they can work out their area's. 🤔 interesting
How on earth do they make such massive webs tho damn
Its orb weaver shit they all do it but not like these kinds...

Don’t you think a shot gun is a bit overkill? You could probably take down a spider with just a handgun.
@@mrplow8 bruh how about a shoe 😂
@@airsavagegd5942 A frag
Roflmao!😂 Just get a dowel and pull it's web down and smish it!
Sounds like China!! They probably ship containers of them!!
I am afraid of spiders, so would a gallon size of Ortho with the sprayer attached insect killer do anything at all.

Pretty spiders
