I think Sri Nuan was literally born to be a Nanny. She is always so happy to be with the little ones. Bunma, being so young herself, will benefit from having Sri Nuan to teach her and help with baby Chaba. so very happy for all of them. She's so stressed, she's in pain as can easily be seen in her walk, she moves like an 80 year old, and she's depressed. We so often praise Lek's lifesaving work of elephants, yet what is so valuable to Lek is not the praise, but the help to save. People have said in these comments, how they are sad at the news of neighboring elephant-camp calves dying and their mothers starving, and they ask how they can help. She has a nanny now❣️ How wonderful! It’s so cute though how Chaba keeps nucking on Lek though. It’s clear she adores her forever nanny Lek🥰 My heart is crushed though for those poor babies and mothers at the other camp. I wish I had some sort of power or more money and could save them and make it better. When we sell our property we will be making a large donation, which hopefully can help in addition to our annual donation. All the ellies and animals are in our prayers and hearts 💔

This video is focused on Chaba and Bunma. Lek has been working to join Pyi Mai's herd with Wan Mai's herd, so that together they have both mothers and both babies and nanny D Max, which frees up Sri Nuan to give nanny-attention to Bunma and Chaba. Lynn was referring to the "other babies" that Lek spoke of in this video, in an elephant camp nearby, where the owner has not had enough food for the nursing mothers there, such that their babies died due to lack of milk. Very sad. This is why elephants belong in the jungle where Creator put them, not chained to some concrete slab or tree on somebody's property. I'm sure the fact that those mothers were chained and stressed like Bunma had been (before her rescue), didn't help their milk production, just as Bunma's milk wasn't flowing under those stresses either. It's hard to understand how a person doesn't understand what doesn't work, and why they keep doing it when they know it doesn't work. I know of a very knowledgeable horse-person that says (and it's true), that horses always suffer for the stupid things that people do, and the same thing is true in spades with elephants. Elephants always suffer for the unreasoning things that people do. Keep in mind that Lek's Trunks Up program has a food bank that needs our support, to help neighboring starving elephants to live. That elephant camp didn't have enough food to feed the mother-elephants the sufficient food they needed to be able to nurse, plus, they were chained as Bunma had been, which right there, due to stress, puts a halt or serious reduction on milk production. When milk-dependent calves don't get sufficient milk, they die. They're too little to eat much solid food as infant elephants, they've got to have their mother's milk. Many captive elephants in Asia are dying due to lack of food, because their owners are out of business, because they don't have the money to buy food, and they've got their elephants chained so they're not free to eat natural vegetation. Elephants do know, instinctively though, how to eat in the Wild, so if those people knew that and could take them to a safe place, they could release them to the jungle to eat, and save their lives. People might say there is no place they could go, but there are. There is also Lek's Trunks Up program food bank, but that needs donations to work, jointrunksup.org/foodbank
One year later......Bunma's sister has just been rescued. So there will be a grand reunion!
Wonderful to hear that Chaba has a nanny and Bunma can be less worried. Great news. They all look content. It must be heartbreaking when you can’t save others.
Neither mom or nanny were keeping a close eye on Chaba like they would in the wild. They know it's a safe place for baby to roam. So sweet!
With Supernanny Sri Nuan looking after them, both mom and baby will thrive. I'm so happy for them. Bunma is so young and lost so much of her childhood that she'll learn just as much from Sri Nuan as Baby Chaba does.
This is so good! Nanny Sri Nuan can teach Mama Bunma too. All those years chained up, she hasn’t learned how to be a real elephant either. Super Nanny will teach both all about mud and the river and long walks in the jungle! 😃
OH i wish I could remember the title of when Burma was playing in the mud the other day!!! She was THRILLED & tried so hard to show baby what fun it is. She literally practically did a head stand in the mud & played like a baby herself. Exhilarating even to watch it! 💖😭

The nannies are so wise. Did you see in the other video today of Pyi Mai swimming in the pool, where her nanny D Max checked with her trunk the water depth?
I noticed how gentle she was whith her trunk when chub chub was trying to nurse off of her.
It's wonderful to watch the baby Chaba smothering Lek as though she were her mother - all the love Lek gives to the elephants she rescues is returned a thousand times over. And she deserves it.

Older than you :) Academic articles suggest they can live into their 70's, but the multiplied-real-life-proofs are far beyond that, 80's and beyond! :) Sri Nuan is in her mid-to-latter 60's.
I think it's wonderful how the baby cuddles lady. I reckon we all wish we could be there to cuddle the baby & pat the Mum & Nanny.

Chaba is very intuned with her emotions. She loves Lek as much as a real child would.
Elephants are very clear emotionally and mentally, unless or until man traumatizes them. Of course, this is true of all animals.
She is a real child. A baby in fact. I do know though that she's referred to as a calf & you're referring to humans 😉

Sri Nuan is the super nanny of ENP! Mum Bunma will get first class training in being an elephant mother. Chaba loves you so much Lek. Even at such a young age she knows you are amazing!🤩 😍 So sad to hear what is happening at the camp where Bunma came from. The misery there for elephants is heartbreaking to hear. You are trying your very best Lek, we know that you would save them all of you could. The dark side of elephant tourism has been affected badly in this pandemic, but here's hoping that out of it good will come as the business owners look at friendly, kind and more humane ways to attract tourists to enjoy their elephants. What I love most is how baby elephants are much bigger than their caretakers! They want cuddles and hugs but its physically impossible and it seems to befuddle them why it isnt happenning. Lol!

I know Lek try her best to save elephants, but there is still lots of them suffering abuse, so the best we can try to do is to educate more people to understand elephants and respect them, no ride them not abuse them, we need try to raise people’s awareness, and push government to enforce the law to protect elephants! I hope it will getting better and better!

Nanny Sri Nuan has been nanny to many ENP babies, she has a very calming, stabilizing, peaceful presence, such that no one rejects her. She is a peacemaker, a bridge over troubled waters, she is very experienced, the most experienced in the whole park, she's over 60 years old, very loving.

Yes, lactating or not depending upon herd.
Sri Nuan doesn't lactate, Lek made that clear in another video, but as we know, language is a challenge and a lot of mental work to keep saying it in all the videos. Lek made it very clear by saying something like, "drink milk, even not have milk" speaking of Sri Nuan. So these babies comfort-suckle their nannies, which creates a strong heart-bond with them, such that the babies will listen to their instruction and trust them.

Baby heard the notification sound on your phone, Lek, and stopped nursing for it, started looking toward you but when she heard your voice that was it! She ran to you! ❤️ Big difference in the size of the mother and nanny’s heads and trunk!
