    So glad you will put the mirror in the center. Probably the client would have a difficult time doing it. You are good persons giving excellent customer service. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing. Happy new year. Waiting on more videos to come .

    Happy New Year, what kind of board are you using to put the nails in can't wait to see it fully finished

      It's a piece of 3/4" Plywood that was big enough for the project. Happy New Year to you!

    I would be great to know how best to safely hang a stained glass mirror like this one.

    • @GommStainedGlass
      @GommStainedGlass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since the mirror is surrounded by bzinc outer bar, it would be very secure to solder rings and hang from them.

      I am trying to figure out how to hang a 16” x 20” stained glass mirror from the wall. It’s soldered together, meaning the pieces are soldered onto the mirror as opposed to the mirror being installed after. The client doesn’t want any hanging mechanism visible and I am stumped on how to hang it while it being as flush to the wall as possible! Any advice is greatly appreciated and thank you again so much!

    little late but hey? I am curious to know why you didn't just foil the mirror and solder into place? I have not yet done a huge mirror project but I use them a lot in my glass work, so far I have not had any problem.....am I missing something?

    • @GommStainedGlass

      Originally, the client was going to put in their own piece of mirror. We were just going to furnish the glass frame. When I decided to furnish the mirror for them, we didn't want to solder the mirror in place because when soldering in a mirror, you often get flux attacking the mirror backing which causes the silvering to get corroded, so siliconing the mirror into place helped to avoid that.

      I had some strips of metal cut in a sheet metal shop. We use them to brace all sorts of projects.

    What metal are the inside supports? Zinc?

    • @GommStainedGlass
      @GommStainedGlass  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Galvanized metal strips, cut by a local sheet metal shop.

      @@GommStainedGlass I have never been sure what metals are suitable for soldering. I know brass and copper and zinc. Can any metal be used in stained glass and soldered?

    • @GommStainedGlass
      @GommStainedGlass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lahy7346 Only certain metals can be soldered, for instance neither steel or aluminium can be soldered.

      We both were, and doesn't it sort of look like a mirror when it's standing up at that point of the video?😃
