Chicago is an AMAZING skating city!! Love the Rink!! Now they are teaching London Englands Flippers Rink & Nairobi Kenya Sk8 City the JB style. I got some of the crazy legs & a bit of JB styles. Still trying to learn the "dip" when you crouch down then pop back up!! Go Chicago, Go!! I'm from Detroit, skated in NYC, Boston, Cleveland, Grand Rapids MI, and Milwaukee. More Skate parties to attend in 2024-25!!
I am thinking about getting some riedell skates but only because my vnla hurt my toes. Does riedell skates also hurt your toes when doing any type of tip toe moves?
You probably can solve your pain problem without shelling out a bunch of buck$ for different skates. Is it from the boot putting pressure on your toe, or is it that your foot is sliding down into the toe area when you're going tip toe? There's a specific way you can lace your skates to stop toe pain when it's the boot putting pressure on your toe... search here on TH-cam for "how to lace for toe pain". If your foot is sliding down into the toe box, then you're wearing a size that's too big. Skates aren't supposed to have room at the toes like the way we wear our shoes. (Which is why every skate manufacturer preaches to measure your foot, instead of just ordering your normal shoe size.) If you had a skate with some ankle on it, you could tighten up the laces around the ankle to keep your foot anchored in the back of the boot. But with the VNLAs being low-cut, that's out. You could get some "shoe fillers" or "toe inserts" off of Amazon; they're spongy dense cushions that go into the toe of your shoe and they'll keep your foot from sliding forward and crunching your toes. If you've got ANY room at all in front of your big toe when you're standing flat on your skates, get a pair of toe inserts. Doing both of these things (the lacing method *and* inserts) would probably make a world of difference on your tip toe move comfort.
