So interesting to me but I am on a "how long can I go without doing laundry" kick - whatever is left in closet and I would rather wash something than wear what's hanging, then maybe I don't need to own those items.

      Excellent perspective!
I told myself that I could not bring the bag of clothes from my daughter into the house until I declutter that many articles of clothing!
I am just starting to declutter my closet. The high mound on 'the chair' is calling to me!
Oh my. My hairdresser just gave me seven purses and wallets!😮

What I love about Dawn is that she shares with a sincere desire to help. And what she shares does help! I find decade longs habits and channels of thinking - reform. She also shares in a way that lets you take it and make it yours. Her way is not so rigid and also lets you pick up at any time. you never feel behind with her (I'm in the FB group). Her content is also drama free and leaves you feeling better.

In Australia one of the male morning tv hosts wore the same suit every day for a whole year and nobody noticed! He was making a point about all the nasty comments that the female host got about her clothes but it proved most people don’t care what you wear!

Last winter (December thru February) I chose to wear red every day because I had several red pieces and never wore them. This spring/summer, I am packing up ALL my black and only wearing navy and pink! I bought 2 things to fill in and my jewelry was there already! Almost all I wore for years was black/white/gray...I love this idea and the low inventory is awesome! I haven't counted but the combos are endless!

I love project 333. I learned of her just over 9 years ago. It changed the way I curated my wardrobe and that of my children. At the time I was overwhelmed by tons of generous hammie downs from friends. I was able to focus on my back to wardrobe (after feeling amazing getting ready each day). And my children had what they needed not 800 pairs of pants for me to organize and house. Thanks for having her on. I appreciate her message ❤

By the way, 🎉I finally got rid of my unused fancy Bundt pan since the only one I’ve used for 8 years is an ugly one that works better!!! Thank you for all you do Dawn.

I started wearing just black bike shorts and a white T-shirt around the house. It is what comfortable and I can wear shorts most the year as I live in Florida. I only put on “real” clothes when I go out, run errands, Doctor apt etc which ends up only being like twice a week these days. So now I have way less laundry to do because the t-shirts and bike shorts take up less room in washer. I still have quite a bit clothes in my closet though but I have pared down more and more each year.

    I really enjoyed this podcast!
We had the roof leak and I had to empty my closet. Once it was fixed, I put everything back, but since I had purchased a separate clothing rail, whenever I wore something, I put it back on the rail, rather than in the closet - mostly just to see what I was really wearing regularly. Three months later, the closet clothes were the extras and the bulk of it was donated. Seeing my clothes was also a great way to not shop as I was so aware of what I specifically had.

I simplified when travelling by having navy as my main base colour, nothing black or grey. It was so great I carried it on when we settled down again. Everything matches and I feel good in all of the outfits. Life has changed that I’m not out in an office so that might impact things for other people.

Well said ! So many of us have jobs that don't require " dress clothes " , i.e. more casual yet work appropriate ; also , consider how much more time we may spend at home , compared to working hours , where we tend to kids , clean house , walk dogs , do yard work , hobbies & activities , etc. Nice to have guidelines for real life ! 💙

I sort of did that unintentionally this winter. Live in a tropical country, no real winter, but compiled my few "warmer" shirts and that was all I wear to work for about 3 months. For residents of countries with real winter that sound stupid but here is unthinkable. Also, I was raised not to repeat cloths frequently so to me was strange to did it but co-workers did not notice it or did not care, me neither. Love it.

I'm a lunch lady at a middle school, so I have specific clothing I wear to work so I can clean tables, etc. When school is out in less than 2 weeks, I will be getting rid of some of that stuff that's wearing out. I have gone through my closet several times and love the idea of keeping what fits now. Even if it's something I really like, it's just clothes, and if it's not serving me, I don't have space in my life or small apartment to keep dealing with it. I definitely need clothing to serve me, rather than the other way around! And my daughter noticed my organized closet!

I recently purged my clothes because I entered the second trimester of my pregnancy and a lot of clothes just didn't fit my belly anymore. I wanted to open my wardrobe and have just things that fit me right now. I trashed a few things, I donated some. The rest I boxed up for after pregnancy. Most were work clothes, so more chic and more expensive. Now opening my wardrobes feels soooo much better. I feel less guilty for having spent so much money on my office clothes and not wearing it that often to be honest. And I went down from 2 wardrobe compartments (Ikea Pax system) to just 1!

I don’t think I even wear 33 different items - I like to look put together (at least when I leave the house) but I’ve always preferred classic styles and really have never liked to clothes shop. I keep everything pretty simple and am not big on accessories either. I’m also in FL so seasons are basically not hot, hot, unbearably hot

I am going to try and figure this one out. IDK how my mental space will do, but I'd love to simplify life...and I'm going SOOOO slow on my declutter progress. My concern is vacations. We live in So Cal (San Diego) so our weather would probably let me wear the SAME 33 items all year, BUT we do travel a lot. So my concern is we travel for 7-10 days at a time many times without laundry - tropical and cold mix. I'm totally overthinking this, but I'm panicked about not having enough items for our travels (doh! - ADHD at its finest!)

About ten years ago, I went to live in another country for two months and was only able to bring one suitcase. It was the first time that I realized how little variation in my wardrobe I actually needed or liked having. I really enjoyed clothes at the time so I was surprised that having such a pared down and simplified wardrobe was actually more enjoyable and I found I could still be creative with how I put outfits together. It helped that the country I was living in was consistently hot, but even where there’s more variation with the weather and proper seasons, less is more. Having just a few items that fit and make you feel comfortable in your skin is so much more valuable than a myriad of options.

Meanwhile I truly think that capsule wardrobes are for people who have thigh gaps. Because I surely don’t have a thigh gap but I like to wear stretchy jeans. If I only had one or two pairs of jeans, I‘d have to buy new ones every 3 months due to the wear and tear.

What about using all the clothes you already use until every is dirty. Like seriously nothing to ware. Then throw everything else away. Wash all your clothes. It’s will be everything you actually use. I hate it when I have nothing to wear but my drawers are still full. Problem is when I try this I always find a reason why I’m keeping what ever is left. 😅

It’s from a year ago which is fine, except it seems dishonest to call it new and not acknowledge that it is recycled content. Dawn used to be very careful not to ask people to buy things all the time and to have click bait titles, etc. I think as her channel gains success she is starting to lose that.

Maybe it was me, but your guest seemed so “down” in her tone. It was as if her body language/mannerisms were telling us “don’t buy into what I am telling you.” I’m confident that was not the message she intended but it was screaming “This is not a good idea, don’t participate.”
I personally have reduced what is in my closet and feel uplifted, so I know that her words were are accurate. Hope others can see past what I was “hearing”. 😊
