Sequencing batch reactors in wastewater treatment plant

This video depicts a small wastewater treatment plant designed as a sequencing batch reator (SBR). This WWTP has four tanks where it is possible to observe one unit being filled, the second one in aeration mode only, the third unit in decanting mode and the last in draw mode.

Is the energy consumption more costly due to blowers turning off and on?

Hi ! No It isn´t ! The energy cost doesn´t differ too much. But remember that sequencing batch reactors operate with high sludge age therefore the comparision of energy consumption should be done with similar WWTP which operates as extended aeration !!
