Here is my recommendation(my experience): Buy a headset, to use throughout the day, if its good enough it will even isolate you from the exterior sounds (if u find that any useful for any purposes u may have using a headset), and keep the headphones for in bed use only, may it be for a nap, sleep, or just relax.Your ears will not hurt anymore cuz u havent been using headphones all day and its a one time money expense for a better life , I did this purchase years ago and I couldnt be happier :)

I think the headphones that goes in your ear isn't suitable for mic scratches but those headset that cover your ear feels like heaven
