Thank you. Booker T. & the MGs were so important in my musical development. Now with TH-cam, there's all of this live footage that I never had access to when I was growing up. Have you seen this performance of "Green Onions" from 1967? Duck Dunn is just groovin' hard on the bass. And Al Jackson is so calm, focused, and deliberate on the drums. It's so good! th-cam.com/video/iFQEsUjI0U8/w-d-xo.html
@@michaelayottemusicthanks for sharing that link.. Ive never heard the clipping sound before of the Hammond.. At first I thought it was a fidelity issue with the recording but then when he holds the note. Presume an F note and the tremolo effect tales off I realised it was intentional. I was wowed.. Also your performance of this piece is great. Tanks for the top down view so I can how to get into those positions when and where. Keep up. Subscribing now:))
Thank you. 🙏 The Wurlitzer electric piano has always been a favourite sound of mine. Then, when you overdrive it (which, in this case, was done with the Lounsberry "Organ Grinder" pedal), it's just magic!
I’ve always been drawn more to the sound of the Wurlitzer over the Rhodes. The Rhodes to me is more bell-like, more polite. The Wurlitzer has this full bodied, warm sound in the middle and low register.
@@michaelayottemusic Thanks for having a look Michael. Yes, I thought the guy bopping was funny and I think I heard my camera person laugh. I was actually flattered that he danced to it. 🙂
Amazing, I like the idea of doing it with Wurlitzer, did you use the Lounsberry pedal for that distortion? I wanna buy one I heard amazing stuff about it. Would you recommend it?
Yeah, the grit is coming from the Lounsberry "Organ Grinder" pedal (I have a link to Lounsberry's website in the description). That's why I was curious how you were getting the distortion in your video! I definitely recommend it but there is a catch: In a real Leslie speaker, the signal is distorted in the power amp and then sent through the spinning baffles. The signal flow is: Organ > Distortion > Leslie. If you simply plug the output of your XK-1 (with its internal Leslie simulator turned ON) into the "Organ Grinder," then your signal chain is: Organ > Leslie > Distortion. This won't sound the way you're expecting it to and may leave you disappointed. Ideally, you'd turn the Leslie simulator in your XK-1 off, then feed the output of the XK-1 into the "Organ Grinder," come out of the "Organ Grinder" and feed an external Leslie simulator pedal.
@@michaelayottemusic now I am using a different Amp self built and has an amazing grit! Check this out th-cam.com/video/oB80bwkeyGM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hNixgS-E3M0jzgoD
You only see the Roland amp but actually from there the backing track sound is coming out but next to it, hidden by my body there is the beast. It based on the trainwrek amplifier
@@davideviolante73 You build tube amps? That's amazing! I always wanted to understand electronics, audio electronics specifically. It amazes me that people have somehow figured out how to control and manipulate electrical signals, this invisible force. That they can comprehend and predict what will happen in an electrical circuit baffles me.
I don't have sheet music for it at the moment but could create it. How do you learn best? Would a video tutorial be easier than sheet music? I could also teach it to you one-on-one over Zoom/Skype. If you want, definitely email me. Just hop over to www.michaelayotte.com
@@michaelayottemusic Sheet music might be easier for me but a video tutorial is good too. Whatever suits you best. Thank you for the offer of one-on-one tutorial but I'm nowhere near your skill level and it will take forever. I think at the moment I'm just dreaming that I'll be able to play this one day.
You're supposed to be the fastest car in the valley man but that can't be your car, that must be your Mama's car...I'm sorta embarrassed to be this close to ya......

Such a great feel! Would you allow me to use this track in a collaboration on my channel? You can check out @redeyeperc to see what kinds of things I do. Thanks!
Absolutely, you may use it for a collaboration on your channel. I'm a huge Blues Brothers fan and I saw you drumming to their version of "She Caught the Katy." That's all I needed to see! The Blues Brothers are actually the reason I know about Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, and Booker T. and the MGs. Dan Aykroyd is partly responsible for this version of "Green Onions." Amazing Michael!! You’re killing it…oh that sound!
Awesome playing!
WOW,, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 💯
Learned a lot seeing you play friend. Well played!

Very Nice!! Thank you.
Excellent ! Bravo ! 👍👍
Good job
I've had the sheet music to this song for like 2 years but it went in my "too hard" pile. lol Maybe I should try again.
Definitely do! If there's something I can help you with in learning how to play or modify the version you have, let me know.
Please learn it. You know you won't regret it !!!**
Care to share the music? I’d love to learn this one…
Totally awesome 👌
What a sound! If the devil played h

Great 🤩
That is mint! Just subscribed. One of the best riffs ever and sounded wicked with the Wurlitzer. ❤️🎹❤️
Came here full of scorn for a sacrilegious non-hammond version and was wowed by your playing and that fat Wurli. Bravo!
Me too ... and oh yeah.
so fucking nice
Dude, that was awesome
nice take on the theme .

Great playing. That Wurli has a sound
to it that is deeper than a Rhodes.
