Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism: When is a D-Dimer Enough?

Thanks.... I have no history of DVt. But have been having pain in my left calf for 3 days. I went to check it yesterday... She said the d dimer is negative. I've only ever had one positive d dimer and there was no clot. So she considered me low risk. And the positive d dimer I had months ago was after a laptop copy surgery for gallbladder.
