...y'know, I never connected the dots there, but when I read what Chester's mother said, it just reeked of control freak. Now that I'm reminded that they didn't have a good relationship, I'm *positive* she's just stirring the pot because she can. She didn't care if Chester was happy, and she certainly doesn't want his friends to be.

you all sound so weird tbh. As if there's a rule that says everything needs a reboot, a"fresh start". No, LP was one of those bands that gave us a special feeling, listening to their songs is like awakening your core memory. It ended with Chester and honestly, even despite the trauma he gave everyone including his kids, he left at the right time. Modern times would not have suited him. I can't imagine him giving stupid trendy interviews, pretending to be a nice guy in front of too many new faces in the entertainment industry, and he himself probably couldn't find his place in a world that had turned into an asylum. Mike fits in pretty good cause he doesn't have the rebellious spirit, he's open to literally everything and he CAN smile to everyone. Not every corpse needs to be kicked, if you want a fresh start you should've asked him to create another band.

And Mike could make reboot, but he wanted to continue with his own band. It was his idea, he wrote significant texts and music of that songs and its unfair to tel him now - your friend died, so go out of public and wait for your death stop doing what you are best and try to forget all your work.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness and maturity about this situation. There has been way too much hate and divisiveness lately, and with the presidential election coming up, its getting worse each day. We are all humans with the same basic needs and desires, yet we focus on the differences and close our minds to understanding. The part of this that hurts the most is that its happening in a community that shares a love for Chester as well as the rest of Linkin Park. How did we let drama and hate corrupt Chester's memory? When did we start thinking Chester would endorse such hurtful and divisive words towards his friends? I understand the hurt of losing a loved one. My mother died when I was 25, and it still hurts. I've even watched as my father remarried a few years later. I didn't think it was an attack on my mothers memory. My father still has a life to live, and hopefully, a long one. I don't want him to finish that journey alone. I'm just happy that someone else can make him smile again. Linkin Park will never be the same, but they are still here, and now they can smile again. Lets be happy for that.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Chester, but what we need to remember is that Linkin Park (formerly Xero and Hybrid Theory) was founded by Mike and Brad. I was 11 years old when I first heard Crawling back when the Hybrid Theory album released, and I've been there ever since. I can't tell you how flippin' happy it made me to see that man genuinely smiling again at the livestream and doing what he devoted his whole being and self to. Chester will always be remembered and always be a part of Linkin Park, but I am more than happy to see them continue and set out on this new journey with Emily and Colin as part of the new lineup. Mike, Brad, Joe, Rob, and Dace have grieved, and Rob left on good terms with the guys. This isn't replacing Chester or trying to forget him. It's a new start that will continue to honour him, and I am definitely going to give my support to Mike and Emily and the lads going forward🫡

@angelah8935 not denying the impact Chester has had on their success, but Mike is the heart and soul of the band. It's Mike that was behind a lot of the musicality of their biggest hits, and he would direct Chester on how best to use his skills to the best effect, and there's plenty of behind the scenes and interviews showing that process. Linkin Park with Chester was amazing, and those chapters of their book will always be there, and now it's time for the next chapters to be written, and I know Chester wouldn't want his friends to be miserable and stop making music on his account. Between Chester's son and his mom you'd think the band was called the Chester Bennington experience and not Linkin park. In all seriousness what about mike's mental health he had his job/creative outlet taken away from him through no fault of his own, the fans saying "they should have renamed" have they not thought that doing it under the banner linkin park is what's giving mike the headspace/strength necessary to carry on. I ran into Mike in LA at a massive attack show from what I remember it was just a conversation between two music fans as massive attack were setting their stage up (my wife is American I'm from Bristol- i grew up in the british trip hop/dance/indie music scene so although id heard of linkin park don't ask me to name the members), first I realised he was anything important was when my wife comes back and asks "you want to get a picture with mike?" It was the zero ego of that encounter that made me a fan of his.

I watched some of the podcast Jamie did recently with "growing up scientology", he talks about how Joe Hahn cut him off, I hate to sound cold saying this but what does Joe do for a living he's a musician/graphic designer/video director he's not a mental health professional, One of the reasons why members of the band probably stepped away with dealing with Jamie is because they were intelligent enough to see they were out of their depth.

I had to switch it off more than halfway through as it was getting crazy. He refers to the band members as "uncle mike" or "uncle joe" in a derogatory way, I will say though if you've given someone the family tag they also have the right to step in and tell you when you're acting like an ass, which I think they tried to do softly softly with Jamie, but he couldn't take the hint.

One day, Chester sang-or rather, screamed-the phrase: ‘I may end up failing too… But I know… You were just like me, with someone disappointed in you!!!’ I didn’t understand this line at the time, but now, when Emily screams it, it feels like a revelation. There are so many different meanings hidden in that phrase.
It’s hard for me to say this, but the more hate I hear directed at my favorite band, Mike and the girl who, in some way, has revived this band for all of us-allowed us to relive these emotions, this euphoria-the more I want to forget everything old and listen to the songs only performed by Emily, including the old ones. I don’t know why. The world is already full of crap. I don’t understand why all these people are trying to take away these pleasant emotions and leave only the bad ones behind. You can’t be this cruel and selfish. Chester would never have approved of such behavior.

Thank you for the video. I am glad that there is someone on TH-cam who is talking about this calmly. I agree that only the members of LP, only artists who live doing music have right to decide their own fate. Nor their relatives. Friends. Friends relatives. Or fans.
Thinking a lot about LP return and the split between fans about should Emily sing old songs or not, I realized how these songs were already alienated from the band many years ago. Sure, we all got used listening to LP with Chester voice, his manner, his personality which helped us to address our own feelings through LP music, channel our sadness, rage, and helplessness. The old LP music accumulated so many energy of listeners who went through rough times with LP on repeat, like if these songs already belong to the audience as a specific folklore, and to nobody separately including the band itself.
For old fans who are deeply connected to old songs through their experience, hearing Emily voice may even wound the ego. For some of them, the return of LF could be even terrifying: the fact that life won’t stop if someone you feel to be related with very much (like Chester) disappears. It wounds because you feel that the same could happen to you. Realizing that people around you won’t stop living their lives if you go away, and your inheritance won’t be buried together with you really hurts. Life will go on when we die. Damn. How unfair is that for little egoists like us?
As for myself, I am happy that Mike’s and other LP guys life is going. I am ready for new songs (and new reactions) and old ones together with Emily, because she has the same right to sing them as everybody else in the world. If she joined the band, it only means, that she is cool enough to make new music and have fun together with the band on the stage. Good luck to them!

Chester always talked about his own struggles with mental health and how important it is to recognize and understand those struggles as people hurt for various reasons all the time and belittling them for it because you can't relate just makes them feel even worse and makes you part of the problem, so the people using their displeasure of the choice of a "replacement" (I use that loosely because although yes, Emily is visually taking his place in the lineup, she'll never truly replace him nor is she or the rest of the band trying to) to personally attack them for it are simply going against everything he stood for and slapping him in the face because you never know how deeply your hurtful words are affecting somebody oftentimes until it's too late. Whether the allegations against Emily are true or not is none of our business and I just hope Chester's family gets the help they clearly need (his son apparently cut off contact with him not long before he died for whatever reason, which makes everything he's saying just sound overly dramatic to me and I think his mother's just talking out of her ass because LP wasn't just about Chester) and that everyone can just stop and choose their words carefully because it's absolutely fine to dislike their choice of a singer but it's far beyond unacceptable to attack who they are as people when you don't know them personally because *you* aren't happy with it as it goes against what Chester always preached in both interviews and his lyrics.

I feel bad for Mike. he is damned on all fronts. When he releases solo material and played his solo gigs he was criticised by Chester’s relatives for exploiting grief. Now he has reunited LP and he is still being dogged by Chester’s relatives and ‘fans’ but it goes deeper like any new material he releases that sounds even vaguely LP like there is an AI Chester cover posted within seconds which must be horrific because it seems like for some people Mike is never going to be enough even performing his own songs. This even goes for songs like still alive. I get why people want to hear Chester but they are so possessive of what they think Mike and LP should do. Its unreasonable.

As a die hard Linkin Park fan since the release of Hybrid Theory, there isn't a day goes by where I don't not listen to them. I have seen them in concert so many times. We were connected to the band because of the resonance and for some, life experiences they could relate to in the music and lyrics, which is why fans held Chester in their hearts because they didn't feel alone. Out of all the bands I love, I have never seen or felt a band with the depth of loyalty as the LP fan base. You see it with the amount of social media posts of the band, 400 people standing in a field singing and playing at the top of their voices, to show their love and respect to Chester and remind the remaining members, that although they didn't personally know Chester, the fans are still here showing love and support in the only way they can.
I was apprehensive when I heard they were reforming...no male singer would ever replace but would continually compared to Chester. When I first heard the song it's definitely an LP song...vocals aside, it just vibes the LP we were familiar with. Emily isn't Chester, never will be but I thought lets give her a chance. Then the backlash started.
I have just listened to your view and have say, it is without doubt, the most balanced perspective I have listened to and given some fans something to think about. You were thoughtful with your words, respectful and articulated a point of view that some fans may not have considered. Please keep doing posts/videos like this, because it was just great...and with this subject topic, so important to listen and watch a levelled and thoughtful perspective, which will give some the opportunity to reflect on what you articulated. You may not realise how important it is.

Thank you for this calm, insightful, grounded and MATURE perspective on this situation.
The vitriolic response of some fans has really thrown a light on the fact that many of these people are not yet emotionally mature enough to move through the grief process towards acceptance. We also need to remember that Jamie is very young, and before the age of 25 the prefrontal cortex is not done developing, and you still tend to think everything is about you and you're still very emotionally reactive. You can't interact with someone when they're still very set on being in that place, and they're just looking for reasons to make everyone else the bad guy. Mike is older and wiser, and he seems to have come to acceptance, and I assume the rest of the band as well. There is a 6th step to the grieving process, and it is 'Making new things again.' I'm beyond pleased to see my childhood heroes thriving again.

I ask myself why it is always Linkin Park who gets so much „hate“, back, when Chester was alife it was about when they moved away from nu metal to another style of music. Now it is, because they have a new vocalist singing chesters parts in live shows. If some Elvis imitator sings his songs, does that destroy his legacy, no, most people would say it honors it. When Adam Lambert sang Freddy Mercury‘s Song, did that erase the past or destroy his legacy, I would say it didn‘t. I don‘t get it, but it seems to me some members from Chesters family are struggeling very hard to process his dead, and sometimes it’s easier to blame others, like his bandmates. I was 19 when my mother died of cancer and it took me 10 years to process it.

Getting back together with Linkin Park. It's not just about the money, it's about seeing if you can do it again, seeing if you can get on stage Everybody's mad at him for hiring a new singer. Emily Armstrong, it's not about replacing Chester. Just would want them to move on as well. He would want them to read. Do music, it's I think Mike has taken the hits more harder. Than the rest of the band like Joey Phoenix Brad, they have never been talking about this on t. V or on broadcast, like mike Has I wish people would not target him so much Like jamie chester's mom like attacking mike attacking the band I can understand their grief but it's time to move on Jamie needs help. He needs treatment because what he's been saying online. It's not healthy like trying to say that the record label wanted Chester. Dead, you know, chester and mom was saying That Mike should know that told Chester. He was going to replace him with a woman. I can't see Mike saying that I don't know. Mike personally.
The media is blowing us out of a Because they want a story

For example, they made the name called LINKIN PARK and they made song down the road if it wasn’t for that there will be no LINKIN PARK but you have understand how the fans are feeling how mom feels and how his kids feel everybody’s going through all of emotions right now how it feels because he’s gone, I think what happened to Chester he got lost in his mind because of one of his friends what he did and I think that hurt him so much he wanted to do the same thing because he missed his friend that why he did it i’m not agree on anything about this. It’s gonna take time people to grieve over this. It doesn’t happen in one day or one night. It takes time to heal. You guys understand where his mom is feeling and his sons are feeling. I think the best thing they could do is talk it out in social media does not help. It makes things worse and I can relate to Chester because I’ve been in that dark place
Get two options you can do get help or let it defeat you I’ve dealt with 4 suicides the best thing is to do is get help and get counseling because you feel like give up on life, you start losing hope a lot of things it’s always good to talk to people know who is close with I think Mike and his mom should talk. Think what Chester You gotta think what he want That’s what you gotta ask yourself. even worse. You can imagine how she feels like. She’s getting so much hate everything not right. Imagine if you were in her shoes. but I can agree with you 100%. I can agree with you. I have lost my friend due to suicide and then my brother‘s girlfriend committed suicide and then one of my other friends committed suicide. Another friend of mine committed suicide and then my best friend was murdered by a person I met that person in jail, but we’re not alone we all been through stuff

People respond differently to loss, and it's up to the people around each other to respect everyone's journey might be different. We're sorry you've been through so much - Gibby

I was all for the band to reunite and make great songs again, and i dont think Emily is a bad singer, she is no Chestet of course but she is great in the new song. However, what i cannot accoet is her connection to scientology and Danny Masterson. She addressed it in an instagram story without naming Danny or condemning him and the band being silence about that is not cool. I normally separate the art from the artist but linkin park is special band i cant do that separation. So ihave decided no to listen to the new stuff or attend any if the new shows until they clarify this im out.

Mike is also a scientologist. It's so fucking easy to see 😂 how or why else pick Emily? The band is run by scientologist overlords. The true LP died with Chester. RIP.

Hi! New to your channel and can I just say THANK YOU! You’ve said everything there is to say. Every time I see some negative comment/video/etc it’s like did you think about what you’re saying before you said/posted it? The only thing I can think of is, is this how ppl are dealing with this situation because this is how they grieve and express their emotions with such negativity? It’s just awful.
Loved Post Traumatic by Mike btw, it’s very heartfelt.
I’ve been a fan since day one and I’m happy to see the band happy. Here for this new journey their on. Remember the past, embrace the present, and look forward to the future. 🤘🫶💚💖🖤

I hate to be the bearer of hard truths but Mike shinoda would not be where he is without Chester Bennington so he should have probably just been humble instead of hiring a Scientologist to relive his glory days

    ⚠️⚠️⚠️
My point of view is that Mike Shinoda saw it’s coming that himself being useless in the band; and that’s why he took the first step by replacing Chester Bennington, before Mike Shinoda himself being replaced! But Chester Bennington took this so deep in pain that this decision from Mike Shinoda ends Chester’s own life! We don’t know what else painful words came out of Mike Shinoda! Obviously very greedy words I think! Mike Shinoda is a Rapper who worked with Jay Z, which is currently get involved with P Diddy’s scandal case on court! Which I think Mike Shinoda should also learned some of the dirty tricks from Jay Z that P Diddy did to other artists…!!! I hope the FBI and CIA should investigate deeply and have a deep check on Mike Shinoda…!!!
