I've said this before, but this opportunity couldn't happen to a better couple. Your adventures aboard Clarity were amazing and I can't wait to see what you do aboard Clarity II. I haven't sailed since the late 80's and once dreamed of owning a big cat or tri, but alas that never happened. Watching you two has renewed that dream, even if I'm getting a bit old to start sailing again.

It is a wonderful surprise to see this happen. Of course you know that your fame and credibility provide an enormous amount of advertising for Outremer. And it is the kind of advertising that money cannot buy. What is happening is called synergy. I don't know who conceived it but I guess it was the brainchild of the woman who greeted you from Outremer and drove you around. Never underestimate women. They have ideas and can do things. While the concept of synergy is easy to explain, the whole is much more than the sum of the parts the creation of it is far more difficult. But in my view, this one will work.

Love the comments about Florida drivers. What makes FL drivers so bad is that they're not really FL drivers. They're drivers from all over the country whom when in their home state drive just like everyone else, but when they get to FL it's a free-for-all. You're mixing drivers from NY, Canada, PA, IL, MA, NH, CA, etc, etc with Floridians. So just know this, it's not us, it's you...lol
Free-for-all is about the best way it could be described! LOL
Nothing made me happier than getting a hire car with FL plates in NYC. Everyone gave me so much room it was like I had the freeway to myself! 😂

I was enjoying your channel anyway, but as someone looking to choose a new performance cat in a couple of years I’ll be watching closely - I just hope you can maintain some objectivity with your views. But judging by watching Great Circle those 55’s look very impressive.
I think what you’ll see in the videos is going to be the same as it always has been: our experience doing what we are doing, learning, with a few dramas and chuckles along the way. We really aren’t capable of anything other than that. If you could see behind the scenes, you would realize that these videos, for better or worse, are not pre-planned or scripted…it is all very much cobbled together and usually at the last minute. To speak to objectivity….there is going to be bias, simply because we haven’t had the opportunity to sail every boat. I think the best we can muster is authenticity and transparency, and let you be the judge.
I have heard of the lucky sperm club but I have never heard of the lucky Outremer catamaran club. I'm looking forward to new videos featuring the Outremer 55. Congratulations on becoming a member, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

As long as you build your subscriber base 50x what it is now, you can afford to order your own Outremer for when this new adventure with the 55 concludes. Plus, you'll be sailing for a good portion of the wait time for a new boat to be completed, and Outremer is constantly making little improvements to their new boats.
The plus for Outremer is publicity, of course, but also your feedback on the boat so they can incorporate it into future boats, especially feedback from the author(s) of sailing books they like.
At some point in the future I hope you'll talk a bit about safely storing and charging Lithium batteries used for cameras, drones, even those in tablets and phones. They are susceptible to fires and exploding if damaged or charged wrong. One reason I now stick with buying more expensive batteries from the device manufacturer rather than from even respected 3rd party manufacturers is a personal history with those cheaper batteries starting to swell after a year or two.
I did a little research into this topic and there's a lot of info on channels dedicated to their use in the RC hobby.
I'm not talking about the main batteries used on boats today, although talking about the safety monitoring and control built into those battery systems is interesting and well worth the extra expense.
Well, basically there isn't a lot we can do, but yeh we stick to the original manufacturer's batteries and more importantly their chargers, we don't charge big batteries from splitters. We have had batteries swell, and it's a sure sign they are toast!

What happens if you run across a boat you want to buy in the next year? What happens if you don't?
I don’t know…buy the boat? Become sheep herders? Cross those bridges when we come to them. Have good intentions and do our best and things tend to work out. If they don’t then it was the wrong path anyway. So why worry?
@@TheOKellys There's a difference between planning and worrying. I assume you will still be looking for a new boat, just, maybe, with less urgency.
So are you all filling in the vacuum created by the departure of La Vagabonde from the Outremer PR/marketing campaign. A stroke of brilliance if that was the plan, exceptional good luck if it wasn't. Now you have my attention again.
I'll tell you one thing, you never want to fill a vacuum with used cat litter. Trust me. LOL. Marketing campaign? LOL. Just hoping to sail around, have a few laughs, learn a few things, and try to make vids along the way. And I positively guarantee we are the luckiest people you'll ever meet.

I’m sure Outremer is getting some marketing benefits from the O’Kelly’s season aboard Moonshot. Cat Great Circle has just finished their circumnavigation so maybe Nick and Megan will be starting theirs? Great Circle was also a 55 footer. If you enjoy sailing videos I highly recommend their channel.

My aunt works at Outremer in the marketing department and she heard that they will give you the boat once you cross the Atlantic. The company will use the occasion to promote a big event they are working on.

“And now I’m ruined…” such a familiar refrain! After floating the Rogue River wild and scenic section many times, we paid to stay at two of the lodges (Black Bar, Paradise) instead of sleeping in tents, cooking our own food, etc. Such a glorious difference. Haven’t floated the Rogue as a camper since!

LOL. Our first boat was really small and simple. The second boat was big and fancy. The next one was smaller and basic. The next one was Clarity. Don't get me wrong...this O-55 is a dream machine...there isn't much not to like...but trust me, there are really really really awesome things about smaller, less fancy, simpler boats. We'll make a video about it one day. And someday we will have a small or smaller boat....and enjoy it for what it is and not worry about what it isn't. The joy is in getting out there. That's what matters.

Lol. I had to completely change my driving style when I moved to Florida. You just learn to not trust ANYONE in a vehicle. I see people turn right from the left lane. Left from the right turn lane. And stop In the middle of an intersection to open a map.

I’ve never been to Aus or NZ, but Canadian drivers have to be up there? I’ve witnessed confused drivers in Canada stop in the middle of a highway interchange and nobody even honked.
