10:36 the biggest mistake was killing Gwendolyn. After you farm 10 souvenir of reprisal in the the painted word of Ariamis, you can get the most powerful talisman in the game after 40+ faith. The dusk crown was important too,but it doesn't protect as much as other helmets
That's what I was thinking too! Gwyndolin would have had to die eventually if it was an all-bosses run, but I definitely would have saved him for right before Gwyn in order to use that Darkmoon Talisman for as long as possible.
That would be pretty wasteful. Because at 50 faith the darkmoon talisman is only marginally better than the sunlight or the ivory talisman. Both of which are easier to obtain than farming for souvenirs. (You just need to kill Solaire or complete Reahs quest). Also I would say the crown of dusk is pretty important for a caster build because it gives 15 to 20% damage boost on spells. It's trading of your defense for higher damage, so it's definitely worth it.
Isnt the ring you get from grigs also effective on miracles? I remember that being the case. Also agility makes cast speed faster. It caps at 40 points though.

I actually did attempt this. With Wrath of Gods it's a great strategy but with the other miracles the casting time is too slow and he recovers from the parry animation too fast. With high poise you can withstand most attacks, but at that point it becomes a contest of damage which he usually wins, especially if he interrupts you by kicks or grabs.
@@flamingrubys11 In ds1 only between 35 and 45 dex and even if he would have put 30+ levels into dex it would only give a 8-10% cast speed up for miracles, which would still be way to slow
Next time you feel like doing one of these challenges, gwyndolin's crown also boosts your magic damage (think in the same way as crown of dusk, but not as much) without the resistance penalty
I totally forgot about the Dusk Crown as well. I thought the big mistake was going to be killing Gwyndolin instead of joining his covenant for the Dark Moon Talisman. I guess he would have to have been killed before Gwyn anyway if you were going for all bosses. Fun fact, casting speed is modified by Dexterity in Dark Souls 1. You could have sped up your damage output quite a bit by just pumping a few levels into Dex!
It actually boosts all magic, not just Miracles. ... but it's only a 10 percent increase as opposed to the Crown of Dusk's 20. Gwyndolin does still yield something nice if you have the patience to farm Crow Demons for the Souvenirs of Reprisal to give him though, and that's the Darkmoon Talisman (the strongest one in the game at 40+ Faith). Lol, nice starting in Firelink. If you started the game properly, the quick and simple answer for this run is "no", since Clerics only have heal to start
When my biggest/only complaint with a video is that songs like the Gerudo valley theme are credited to smash ultimate, you know you’ve got some great content. Glad I got to see the rise from a couple hundred to the numbers you deserve! 👍🏻
An interesting aspect of the magic system of DeS and DS is that sorceries and pyromancies are essentially scientific treatesies on how to manipulate a given element (soul, light, fire, poison...). That's why their names are usually so simple and descriptive. Meanwhile, miracles are stories of the gods, so they get to be a lot more grandiose.
Easy Capra trick. At taurus tower, right next to the hollow that sends down the flaming barrel, go to the back and unlock the door with the master key. Follow the stairs down and kill Havel (parry or backstab for ez win) then go through the door. Rush to the right for the elite knight set for lots of early poise. Then go to dark root bonfire, go through the fogwall and look to the right. Fake tree. Kill it, run though, follow the path till you get to an open area, follow the right path. Run past the stone giant for the wolf ring. Overall about 90 poise.
10:09 You killed her? But Why? 10:17 Ha ha that's what you get. Honestly youu deserved this. Just joking man, good video but you shall not kill spider fire keeper, hope you regretted.
A Tranquill walk of peace helped me a lot (especially against Capra demo and Doggo - no need for good RNG) on my miracles run. Also usage of Karmic justice could be interesting, but i did not know about the spell at the time i made this run.
Wait, couldn't you have just popped the consumable souls from Undead Asylum and used them to buy Force from Petrus at the start? Sure it does no damage, but it's a relatively easy way to let gravity do most of the work against early, non-boss enemies.
>doesn't grab dusk crown >doesn't grab better talisman >doesn't farm phalanx souls to get 45 dex to max spellcast speed this game is incredible. brain and brawn are interchangeable. for any amount of one you lack you can just make up for in the other.
1: Humanity item discovery scales past 10. After 5 humanity, you get 6 item discovery per humanity, even if it doesn't show it in the character screen. Players have thoroughly tested this but the wiki has never updated to compensate. 2: Really should've gotten force at the start, but running past everything isn't too terrible. Gravelord Dance is a worse version of Firestorm, which is already bad. Always seems like a decent alternative when you have nothing else until you start using it. 3: Dusk's Crown and Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring both increase sorcery, pyro, and miracle damage by 20% each. Yes, it only says sorceries on the item but all 3 spell categories are coded to scale with sorcery damage. 4: Using the Canvas Talisman through the whole playthrough and killing Gwyndolin before getting the Darkmoon Talisman was actively gimping your damage. It wouldn't have been so bad if you picked up the Ivory Talisman but... you didn't. Could've easily doubled your spell adjust and not been throwing stones at the end-game bosses. I knew the run was possible from the get go, but I was moderately curious to see how you commentated the run. Not my style, but I wish you luck, regardless.
Was there some special reason why you never changed your talisman? Im pretty sure killing Solaire or ranking up darkmoon conv for darkmoon talisman would be better than canvas. Unless canvas is one of those that are better at lower faith.

A thought crossed my mind when he talked about the names of the different spells and miracles. It makes a lot of sense. Magic and Pyromancy both are more "science based" forms of mana/ki manipulation. (I like to see the Magic in fields like Astrology and Human nature. Pyromancy fitting in more in Alchemy and the Process of creation and Destruction) and therefor have very straight forward names. Soul Arrow, Great soul arrow, Soul Spear. Or Fireball, Fire whil, Combustion. In exchange Miracles base themself on nothing but what the stat it requires to wield:Faith, the stronger the faith is , more unexplainable the miracle. From a simple Healing Spell to a force push to knock enemies away, calling upon a lightning to strike your opponent.

@@aldebaran2643 Damn straight. Best soundtrack in the series, as far as I’m concerned.
@@yaboi2500 Best game in the series too.
@@aldebaran2643 Also true. People who think UYA is the best are out of their fucking minds.
@@yaboi2500 Pretty sure it's nostalgia, considering that UYA was most of the fans' first R&C game. Same here btw, but GC is still superior imo.
That was a super fun watch! Keep killing it dude
Amazing content dude, I’ll be proud to say I was here when u had 1k subs when u reach 100k
Overall about 90 poise.

i hate how he says it "Smoff"
Fuggin Smoff lol
It’s pronounced The Slam Jam Brothers
The spirit tracks music in the background at the start really made my day
10:09 You killed her?
Choosing Cynthia's theme to the two most hard challenges on the run? I saw what you did it there, and I love it
>doesn't grab dusk crown
>doesn't grab better talisman
>doesn't farm phalanx souls to get 45 dex to max spellcast speed
this game is incredible. brain and brawn are interchangeable. for any amount of one you lack you can just make up for in the other.
Nice to reach the conclusion that 15 years apart Cynthia's theme still gives me PTSD
That tangent on the names of miracles broke me.
Now I want to see what a run would look like with the Dusk Crown
"I drank two...."

It’s a miracle that you were able to beat the challenge

Pokémon and Kingdom Hearts music over a Dark Souls video, PLUS witty jokes?
You sir have earned yourself a new subscriber!
The Music at the beginning is just PURE nostalgia
The montage with Cynthia's theme was exceptional, great video
It looks like your gonna need a MIRACLE to beat this one, eh eh

Was playing Dark Souls Remastered for second time and discovered your videos.
Love your work.
One thing I noticed very early in my first play through: dark souls is sometimes the official “Dormamu, I’ve come to bargain” simulator
Was there some special reason why you never changed your talisman?
Im pretty sure killing Solaire or ranking up darkmoon conv for darkmoon talisman would be better than canvas.
Unless canvas is one of those that are better at lower faith.
Its best between 27-39 faith, without darkmoon covenant above 42 faith sunlight or ivory is the best, not sure what faith they were on
I love dark souls community because the video ideas are never dry and fun to watch because I could personally never do it without losing my mind 🤣
Wouldn't other Talismans like the Ivory Talismans provide more damage instead of the canvas talisman because they have higher mag adjust?
It's a pain to get those talismans because you need r3 on two covenants to get them, and that takes either a bunch of farming or a lot of pvp/co-op
Canvas is actually the best talisman post 30 faith, only surpassed by the Darkmoon. Both just have incredible scaling.
I was here to witness your challenge. I stayed for the Kingdom Hearts music
Im planning to buy dark souls one, is it worth it?
yes
You must use mod , a gameplay mod fix bugs make gameplay better
You got my sub when I recognized the Castlevania Curse of Darkness hype track from the early game. Bravo.
AFTER Zelda and before excellent KH music, too!
I got irrationally pissed when he called Smough Smoph cuz they def look the same and that was after edits and a script...
that WRATH OF THE GODS had me spooked
Death montage of black dragon and manus WAS BEAUTIFUL
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Yes but with lightning
Yo GW, this content is the dope shiznit. I love your challenge runs and have never had a suggestion before, but I got one!
BoneWheel shield skill only!
Roll it if it fits.
First time I've heard someone say "Smough and Ornstein" and not "Ornstein and Smough"
Okay this video was awesome and makes me want to give it a try.
I've been playing Ds since 2014 and learned quite a bit in this video. Thanks!
"It wasn't *ungodly* difficult..."
Well, naturally.
I literally was dying inside when you didn't put on the dusk crown till the end
Smuff, omg, never heard that pronunciation of Smough before. Awesome.
A huge thank you for using Castlevania and KH ost!
Love the Ratchet and clank GC soundtrack at 5:35. I love seeing people use the soundtrack for the games since the trilogy and even the ps3 games has legendary soundtracks.
You're one of the few channels that names each music track you use. Love it 👌
