Haha, it's all about how you sell the idea to kids. That was my favourite trick!
I'm an actual lifeguard, and it is not half as interesting as this. I have to be in a chair for 30 minutes straight in pouring rain, even when nobody is there.
true, my dad was a lifeguard b4, and he told me how long time he had to sit on the chair, and he is always hoping someone to have problems in the pool, so he can get a dip , xHorizon is that true?
Nathan McDonald Id way rather be a beach lifeguard then working at an amusement park wave pool with about 2 million people coming through in a season. If I lived close to a beach I'd be there guarding now.
Very well made and a good representation of a good day as a lifeguard. As a fellow lifeguard I'm happy to see a video like this on YT. Coming in from small town Del Rio, Texas
I love all these people saying they dont like lifeguarding or telling people not to because it pays bad. Yes, it depends on where you work. Yes, it depends on who you work with. But, generally I think it's fun! Over the summer I worked as a lifeguard for a Boy Scout camp in my council. I got trained for free and worked 4 weeks. It wasn't much pay wise but we also got to do a lot more than stare at a pool for hours as well. Honestly, if you love being in the water, freshwater, saltwater, or pool, and you think you can handle the training it takes for it, go for it! (I should also mention that the certification for BSA Lifeguard is the hardest certification you can take as it requires you to be ready for open water emergencies as well as a normal drowning situation, so I had it a little harder than others but still, it's a whole lot of fun!)
Love how you actually show the brunt of the work we do😂 everyone shows the saves and the rescues, but everyone skips over the fact that 99% of what we do is yell at people to walk, you only eat one bounce of the diving board, and stop hanging on the divider.
Im guessing because I commented on a news video about a lifeguard yesterday. As a lifeguard I have always wanted to know what a day in the life of a lifeguard was like
he recorded with the camera taped to the mirror (or on a tripod facing him) and masked that layer behind one where he had it recording the mirror... sorry to be the spoiler of fun :)
I've been a pool, and beach lifeguard. Every job has its positives and negatives, at the end of the day as a lifeguard your job is to keep people safe. I've handled calls as minor as someone needing a bandage to a none responsive patient. So at the end of the day a lifeguard is a lifeguard... oh, and you don't have to be there best swimmer. As a collegiate swimmer I've seen/worked with guards who aren't that do a better job that experienced swimmers. Keep up the good job fellow guard
He placed a camera on the mirror and recorded himself brushing his teeth for the duration he wanted. he then recorded a 1st person video of the mirror trying to brush his teeth with the exact same brush strokes. He then cropped out the video with the camera in the mirror and added in the video of the camera on the mirror video shot. The way you can tell he did that is because at the bottom of the mirror you can see the crop marks (prob due to the fisheye lens making things difficult). Also if you look at his real hand and mirror hand; right at the end when he rolls his mirror hand he does not roll his real hand. Regardless it is bloody good editing skills and adds flavour to an already interesting vid.

as a waterfront guard at a summer camp that has to stand for up to 2 hours/swim team guard that sits and does nothing for up to 2.5 hours, i can say with full confidence that lifeguarding is nowhere near this glamorous and fun
There was nothing like opening the pool on a Friday morning in July. Everything was peaceful and warm. Fondest memory of highschool summers... Then we'd close up at 8, walk into town, grab a slice, find out whose parents were out of town 😂 Nostalgia hits like a sack of bricks sometimes.
It is, but it's generally harmless as it's a small amount and the pool is most likely drained at the end of the active season, so it wouldn't build up to be too great anyways
The pool is DEFINITELY not drained at the end of the active session LOL. It takes WEEKS to fill a pool up after it has been drained, and it is almost never done. And Barley James, there is a warning on the chemicals in the SDS Sheets for them labeling them as carcinogenic and to use gloves when handling it.
That seems like a pretty chill pool. My company works at a bunch of different pools and one is always CRAZY busy. 15 lifeguards and a manager on a normal day (for 4 pools and a slide) though in Texas it gets HOT. Not as fun when you’ve gotta get in every 10 mins.
Im a lifeguard, and it sucks, its an extremely easy job but it gets sooooo boring sometimes. Especially having to stay on duty for rotations when theres less than 5 people in the pool and they’re all adults just standing in the shallow end talking, they get pissed if you get on your phone so you just sit there dazing off until you get off the chair and get to go sit down and check your phone or something. But hey, it is an easy job and pays pretty good and theres little to no management enforcing any sort of tasks you have to do. Just opening and closing the pool, testing PH, and sitting in the chair for hours a day.
No one: Literally no one: Not a soul: Not a speck of dust: Not even a particle: Not a cell: You thought I was gonna say something ha like if I wasted at least a second of ur life .

The part where the music gets quiet when the camera goes underwater was really nice
it was the touch that this video needed
it didn't get quiet, it's just a filter effect
just for general knowledge :p
Rah Beats a what ?
Basically he cut off the high frequencies. It's called a low pass filter
I agree
He must be decent at editing
At my pool, we are basically CPR certified janitors.
