You do not have to do a W2? So how has this worked in your benefit... filing 1099 instead? Looking into doing this. Thank you for the info Roland De Aragon! Do you have your living this way?
I’ve been doing grub hub in the evenings for some extra cash. Love it. Especially restaurant orders. Today was my first big tip driving in the morning! $32 and it was the first order of the day.
If a delivery request pop up and it's already way late, then I would just reject it. While doing Grubhub I don't accept any order request below $6. In my market we could work off block during the lunch and dinner hours and I usually make more than the minimum guaranteed by doing that. The only time I would accept an order with $0 tip is if either I am schedule for a block, the restaurant and customer are 3 miles away from my current location and the order is small.
Don't take this as tax advice and do consult a tax professional, but as an independent contractor I believe you can claim car mileage on your yearly taxes as long as you keep an odometer reading and mileage log for each block. So say for example you work a 6pm-10pm block and you log your car's odometer reading at the beginning and end of your block and the total miles are (hypothetically) 40 miles and GrubHub pays you for 12 of those miles, you can claim the other 28 miles (at 54 cents a mile) as a business expense for using your vehicle for business to offset your tax liability. In this one block scenario, that's an additional $15.12.
Hey great video! Is finding curbside parking outside restaraunts a pain? Also, what about finding parking spots at businesses, hospitals, etc - any tips for making that easier? And does GrubHub pay you for using toll roads? Thank you
Maybe I should move; minimum wage here is $7.25. The older I get the less I make and the more crippled I get because I always had labor jobs. I used to drive Limo's in NY/NJ 22 years ago and a 15% tip was always included in the bill. Customers had the same "Cash" option back then and I would get screwed out of the tip most times, if they arranged that option. Their mentality is, "I will never see them again!" or "They knew the job was dangerous when they took it." Most Limo drivers are paid on a 1099 also so our options were 15% or 20% if the company gave you a car plus 15% tip or 40% plus 15% tip if you leased the car from them. The tip usually covered the expenses of gas, parking and tolls. I didn't get stiffed on the tip enough to complain but I was told, "If you expect to get a tip and don't you'll get pissed off. If you don't expect and tip and don't get one, you won't get pissed off." Lots of customers are business people too and their gonna screw everyone they can for a dollar.
I work at Domino's and make this working 35 hours a week... in Texas. Not half bad for a single guy who owns his place, owns his cars, and has NO debt.
How on earth can someone be hired by Grubhub? I applied months ago and have heard nothing. They encourage you to email them with any concerns/questions. I've emailed them several times and heard nothing. Checked the spam folder and nothing. Called them several times, spoke to nice people, they apologized that I never heard back, but that's all they could say. I've met several people who live near me that drive for Grubhub and they love it. It seems impossible to get in touch with someone who can help or to get a solid answer as to why they haven't gotten back to me. Why do they make it so unnecessarily difficult? Feels like they are ignoring me.
2 questions have you ever done doordash I heard it might be a little better and you could get bigger tips & and the last question does GrubHub take percentages of the money like 30-40 % or is it all yours?
Great video FOOD DUDE, I just started a month ago too and everything you said its happened to me too, you are right on all the points. I had one dooch bag last night who screwed me over a tip and he was rude too, its just always the rich fox who seem to be short on tipping, this is just part of the job I guess. over all i say it's a decent gig, I am only doing this until I get back to my other work and what I am worried about it's 1099 thing that I have never done before?.
My first two weeks on grub hub i got to schedule blocks ever thursday at 2pm as an entry level driver. I worked hard for two weeks, occasionally the app would glitch out and it wouldn’t let me an accept an order. This rarely happened but did at times. Fast forward to pro status two weeks later. I now have access to the schedule on Friday at 10am. So I got a promotion, just missed premier by 1% and I have to schedule a day later than newbies. Something doesn’t seem right. I’m worried by friday morning no blocks will be left
you have to pay it every quarter of the year or you will get a penality. unless you owe less than $1000 in taxes. never mess with the IRS..they will catch up with you.
Pete I hear about a thing called blocks and how hard are they to get? How much advance notice do you need to give them if you need to drop a block for some reason so you are not penalized? I am in North Florida and I am thinking of applying. I will watch more of your videos to see what suggestions and ideas you have to offer.
You are wrong, I off of work at 1:30 in the afternoon and was finishing up a job and still on the order at 1:40 and so they sent me 2 orders to pick up and I couldn't do it, so I got penalized because I was getting off of work and didn't pick up two jobs that to me is a bunch of crock!
I tryed to apply with grub hub on the application the states wont load it just constantly says loading which won't allow me to continue because I can't select a state. Why?
Hi my name is Omar I've been doing GrubHub for about a month-and-a-half and to be honest with you I don't understand understand anything about the scheduling all I do is is turn the app on and make myself available and just do deliveries that's all. Can you please explain to me what scheduling means? Also so you know I do this part time I have a day job I do this at night. Thank you
Hi Norma! I think it would be fine for a woman in her sixties to try part time and then work their way to full time (if that’s what you’re looking to do). It’s businesses and residential.
No. It just means that you can deduct your payments for the year from your taxes. So with $2400 total year's lease payments, that's $2400 of your annual income that won't be taxed.
I’ve been doing GrubHub for four months now on and off can someone please message me or email me how I am supposed to properly put away money and how I’m supposed to do write off’s for gas and lunch breaks
For the time slots do I have to work the full time slots. I noticed like on was btwn 11am-5pm but I have to be home early because I live with my parents.
Do they take away money if you miss an order? I accidentally missed an order and i saw that my money was gone. It said $0.00. I had worked earlier and made money, and went back out later and missed an order.
Here in California The Premier: Attendance Rate is 90%... Acceptance Rate is 90%... Less than 10% Drop Block Rate... The Pro: 90% Attendance Rate... 85% Acceptance Rate... Less than 20% Block Drop Rate... There are no available hours after The Initial 1sr Early Access on Thursdays 2pm.. (Entry)... Fortunately I did schedule 50 hours for the next 9 days! 💕😊💕
How long did it take for you to get the job? I'm asking because it has been just over a month since I last applied for them, and they have yet to get back to me. I've tried emailing or calling them, and get no responses. I did finally talk to one woman on the phone who said that it took her about a month until they got back to her. Thanks.
It took me five days from when I applied to the orientation, which I did online. It probably would have been faster, but they emailed me with questions about my insurance.
How have you been dodging parking clerks because I worked for Grubhub for 6 months. I couldn't stand the Bullshit that I had to deal with having to reject orders because of parking. I will be getting my taxes back from Grubhub. Its not all of it but a big portion of it. I enjoy doing Lyft as well as my current Customer Service job.
Last night was my first night doing GrubHub. I have yet to get any blocks of hours :( but in just 3 hours I made over 50.00 so not bad. was doing postmate. its ok but it's slow and you put a lot of miles on your car. and there Are a lot more steps to do the job. and you don't make as much.
When I drive for Uber, I do not expect any tips. I am lucky I am not that hard up for money so I do not care that much. When I do get tips it is that much sweeter because I do not expect anything.
Delivery drivers get $10 from me minimum on top of whatever else they're charging as a delivery fee. That's the very least that its worth for me to not have to drive across town in the middle of rush hour, motherfucking every braindead asshole on the road, with my kids in the backseat. Can't fathom people who stiff drivers because of a fee or because it says free delivery. Fuck that. Show appreciation for the time and stress that person just saved you.
I remember when i first ordered from GrubHub, i opened the door quick and i guess i scared the dude and he dropped my sandwiches 😂 i was cool he was cool, GrubHub hires some awesome people 👍
I like that you were honest.. told good and bad,, and you didn't sugar-coat it. You were Straight-up...THanks FoodDude:)
Hey thanks for this video, man! It cleared up a lot of questions that I had. I’m just starting this week.
As an entrepreneur for almost 10 years you can save more in taxes as an 1099 independent contractor than a W2 employee.
You do not have to do a W2? So how has this worked in your benefit... filing 1099 instead? Looking into doing this. Thank you for the info Roland De Aragon! Do you have your living this way?

Great video Pete! Pretty accurate description.
THE FOOD DUDE!
Thanks Eric! How's Westchester South been?
The video that started it all!
The Food Dude! This was very informative man! Looking forward to more videos like this

But doesn't rejecting a lot of orders hurt against your acceptance rate and future scheduling of blocks?

Yes there are apps for that. I use MileIQ.

$600 per week but how many hours per week do you usually put in?
I work at Domino's and make this working 35 hours a week... in Texas. Not half bad for a single guy who owns his place, owns his cars, and has NO debt.
@@ClickToPreview not bad indeed. I might look into it as a second income.
Thanks for the info! Going on vacation for a week. Will I have to start all over in rebuilding my status?

tony the 1099 is a independant tax form as said b4 in video you got to pay taxes out of the money you earn...

You have to pay self employment tax which is Social Security and Medicare around 16%
X Marks the Spot No you don't. Lmao I've never paid such a task.
you have to pay it every quarter of the year or you will get a penality. unless you owe less than $1000 in taxes. never mess with the IRS..they will catch up with you.

Hey Pete love your videos and your blog quick question would you rather do Uber Eats or GrubHub if you had the choice
I tryed to apply with grub hub on the application the states wont load it just constantly says loading which won't allow me to continue because I can't select a state. Why?
Does your car start smelling after awhile and if it does what do you use to remove the food odors?
Does grub hub lease cars? Where did u lease your car?
Hi my name is Omar I've been doing GrubHub for about a month-and-a-half and to be honest with you I don't understand understand anything about the scheduling all I do is is turn the app on and make myself available and just do deliveries that's all. Hi Pete is this a job a woman in her sixties could handle? Do you strictly go to businesses?
Hi Norma! I think it would be fine for a woman in her sixties to try part time and then work their way to full time (if that’s what you’re looking to do). It’s businesses and residential.
Question, you say that you write off the lease payments on your taxes? What does that mean? If I lease a car, I can get the payments back? All of it?
No. It just means that you can deduct your payments for the year from your taxes. So with $2400 total year's lease payments, that's $2400 of your annual income that won't be taxed.
The Food Dude. Thanks for the tips. I'm considering driving for GRUB HUB.
lm thinking about doing it do you think it's worth it and better than a 9 to 5 job
Varies on how much your making an hour. Plus you have to take into account wear and tare on your car.
Hi ,Can Uber driver work for GrabHub
I’ve been doing GrubHub for four months now on and off can someone please message me or email me how I am supposed to properly put away money and how I’m supposed to do write off’s for gas and lunch breaks
Hello, I'm new with Uber, and I was looking into GrubHub, and I want to know if they find the place where you work, or do you pick the place to work.
Hey. My name is david. What they call block and how it works. I am new in grubhub but not new in delivery cause i do with uber eats and doordash,
Nice video!
Can you stay in your own area or do you have to drive to other areas to deliver?
Nana Sings the app will show the areas of delivery
So grub hub is like doordash they give you the area .....please I need answer you can text me 7633134993
You can form a corporation and use an EIN number in stead of you SSN .
What would be the benefit of doing that?
Where do i see the hourly pay? i did 2 hours yesterday and it only shows the delivery pay, tips and miles.
Very informative, thanks!
Does Grubhub have a program for people who dont have a car?
Thx Pete for the video needed to know about Grubhub
For the time slots do I have to work the full time slots. I noticed like on was btwn 11am-5pm but I have to be home early because I live with my parents.
Where Stephanie Reads It is open switch the app on whenever
Do they take away money if you miss an order? I accidentally missed an order and i saw that my money was gone. It said $0.00. I had worked earlier and made money, and went back out later and missed an order.

what does the app look like?
Where do I go for orientation after I pass my background check and ready to deliver? How do I familiarize with the app and my next steps? Thank you
I did my orientation online actually.
I did mine on line as well.
How does it work as far as picking up food from the restaurant and how do you keep the food warm
You stick the food down your pants. Just don't fart on it.
Another Virgo Asshole lol
Well done!

Hi Pete! thanks for this video, I appreciate it a lot. I would like to try to do it. Any contact to talk to you dude?
No problem!
Why did he stabilize the video
Lol
You leased a car specifically for this? I hope you pay attention to your mileage limit in that lease.
Anthony Mongeon ikr, he’s gonna fucked at the end of his lease
its not really worth it considering the amount of gas money for the car and mileage.
Hey Food Dude, you let me know how it works. Thanks
Can I use rental car for Grubhub delivery?
most food delivery services require a proof of insurance for the car.
did you say 12 an hour base pay?
Last night was my first night doing GrubHub. I have yet to get any blocks of hours :( but in just 3 hours I made over 50.00 so not bad. was doing postmate. its ok but it's slow and you put a lot of miles on your car. and there Are a lot more steps to do the job. and you don't make as much.
Can you do a video on confirmation of orders
Anyone 2021?
