As Allah ﷻ says in the Quran, “Your Rabb has commanded that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to your parents. If one or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them a word of disrespect, or scold them, but say a generous word to them. And act humbly to them in mercy, and say, "Ya Rabb, have mercy on them, since they cared for me when I was small” (Quran 17:23-24).

Allah SWA also gives children their rights so if any parent out there thinking that this is one way street, it’s not! It’s a two way street.
Be there for your children and your children will hopefully they will be there for you, InshaaAllah.
Respect each other’s rights. Roles will reverse as both the parent child ages. Payback time!

      @@Zenigma217 So true.
I am the only Muslim in my family.
My mother was very abusive to both myself and my brother. She gave me to her parents and kept my brother.
      My family was quite disfunctional.
      Long story short.
I kept my grandmother and cared for her the last 5 years of her life.
After my grandmother's funeral my family did not speak or associate with me at all for the next 5 years.
When my mothers husband passed away she had no one to help her. She showed up at my home one day and never left...
I have been careing for her for the last 9 years. I am telling this because I can attest to how difficult it is to take care of a parent who abused you and allowed others to abuse you.
My mother can still look at me with the utmost hatred...
I became a muslim revert 3 years ago subphanallah.
One thing that I struggle with is feeling respect for my mother. I am kind and good to her because I know its the right way to treat a human being, but emotionally I feel numb. There was never love exhibited from her and when she looks at me with such hatred I just pray that Allah understands why I feel numb. I pray that he understands how difficult taking care of her can be both emotionally and physically.
Thanks for your thoughts on the matter of parental behavior towards their children as well as children respecting their parents.

@@Shadowlanddream Salaams Kelly. I was very saddened to read about your upbringing and experiences. I read your message and my heart sank.
You have a big, generous heart and only Allah SWA knows what it contains in terms of actions, feelings and piety.
I was so happy to learn that Allah SWA guided you to Islam and you reverted. Perhaps this is Allah’s way of helping you to deal with everything. Islams teachings and relying on Allah SWA help makes everything so bearable in my opinion. Know that He SWA is with you at all the times. I see many reverts going through tough tests. He SWA will test us, and our patience and gratitude in good times and bad and ultimate return to Him, is our focus.
The fact you took care of your grandmother and now taking care of a mother who still hates you, speaks volumes about your personality and character. I admire you for that. You are a kind and good person. Do not let your mother’s current and past behavior, speech, thoughts and feeling towards you, reduce your own self worth. Not many people can do what you did and are doing. Be patient. Don’t answer back. She will see that love for Allah SWA and Islam has brought a love and peace in your heart that your childhood may have destroyed.
You have earned the prayers of your grandmother and reaping the rewards of taking care of her inshaaAllah in both worlds. Allah SWA is Just. Now you are earning the rewards of taking care of your mother despite everything.
I admire you for allowing your mother to stay with you after all that has happened. I’m no therapist but know that forgiving the ‘other’ releases the hold they have on us emotionally. Forgiving allows us to let go of the past. It’s more about us than the person that hurt us. So find it in your heart to forgive her and when the time is right, talk to your mom about how you feel and let her know you forgave her, for she did not have a manual on how to be a good parent.
What is really needed is that she too needs to ask you to forgive her and for her to forgive you. You may have not done anything but there’s something there for her to resent you. Did she become pregnant with you at a time when she didn’t want to be pregnant?
Professional counseling individually and together with your mother may help many spoken and unspoken questions. There are many qualified muslim therapists now. Even a non muslim can help. Your mother has her own childhood issues, issues with her parents maybe unknown to you. She has reasons, right or wrong, for the way she is. Maybe her mother didn’t treat her well.
As for not being able to love her, it’s understandable, you don’t have to love your mother. Look at her as a soul that Allah SWA created. Allah SWA created everything perfect. She was once a pure soul but now tainted by life’s experiences.
I’m curious to know where your father was when she sent you away to your grandmothers? Did she fear that your stepfather may abuse you? Did she herself have a stepdad?
There are many questions to peel the onion of life experiences. A professional therapist is needed.
Keep asking Allah SWA for help and recite the last two verses of Surat Al Bakara ( Chapter 2 The Cow ) and verse 255 ; Ayat Al Kursi, every night before you go to sleep. These will help InshaaAllah.

@Jay Oh From the above contradictions it is crystal clear that the Bible is not the word of God. Because God cannot make such mathematical contradiction. What u have in present is the corrupt version of the Bible.
Only Quran is the book without any contradiction on the face of the earth. Almighty God took it upon himself to guard it from corruption,
*"Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)." [Quran 15:9]*
*"Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions." [Quran 4:82]*
*ALLAH CHALLENGES ALL IN THE QURAN WHO DISBELIEVES 👇🏻*
      *1. The Whole Quran*
In the Quran, Allah commanded the Prophet (S) to challenge all of creation to create a book of the stature of the Quran:
*“Say: ‘If all mankind and the jinn would come together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce its like even though they exerted all and their strength in aiding one another.’” [Quran 17:88]*
      *2. Ten Chapters*
Next, Allah made the challenge ostensibly easier by asking those who denied its divine origin to imitate even ten chapters of the Quran:
*“Or do they say that he has invented it? Say (to them), ‘Bring ten invented chapters like it, and call (for help) on whomever you can besides God, if you are truthful.” [Quran 11:13)]*
      *3. One Chapter*
This final challenge was to produce even a single chapter to match what is in the Quran, whose shortest chapter, al-Kawthar, consists of only three verses:
*“And if you all are in doubt about what I have revealed to My servant, bring a single chapter like it, and call your witnesses besides God if you are truthful.” [Quran 2:23]*
*"But if you do not - and you never shall - then guard yourselves against the fire, the fuel of which are men and stones. It has been prepared for disbelievers." [Quran 2:24]*

Must there always be a war on words? Just like, Les Shunmugam, I found this story to be enlightening and refreshing. It was well spoken and a lesson we should ALL live by regardless of religion, status and/or, cultural background. If we treated our parents, the elderly, friends, family, and strangers alike, as we hope to be treated in our own journey through life, I dare say, “This world would be a far better place to live in.” I am not Muslim, and yet, I agree with everything this gentleman has said. It’s as simple as that.

As Muslims, we believe in the punishment of the grave. There are many narrations which verify its authenticity. One such narration is: The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Seek Allaah's protection from the Punishment of the Grave, since the Punishment of the Grave is a fact/true." (Saheeh: At-Tabraanee in 'al-Kabeer' from Umm Khaalid bint Khaalid ibn Sa'eed ibn al-'Aas.)
Our righteous predecessors have mentioned many stories in this regard, some of which are as follows:
Ibn Abi'd Dunya (rahimahullah) mentioned that one of his companions said, “My brother died and I saw him in a dream. I said, "How was it when you were placed in your grave?" He replied,
"Someone brought me a fiery flame and if it had not been that someone else made supplication for me, I think he would have hit me with it.” ("The Soul journey after death" an abridgement of Ibn al-Qayyim's kitabar-ruh.)
Bashar b. Ghalib (rahimahullah) said, “I saw Rabia, on whose behalf I make frequent supplication, in a dream. She said to me,
"Bashar b. Ghalib! Your gifts have been brought to me on plates of light, covered in silken cloths."
I asked, "How can that be?" She replied,
"That is what the supplication of living believers is like. When they make supplication for a dead person, that supplication is answered for them on plates of light, veiled in silken cloths. Then they are brought to the dead person for whom the supplication was said and they are told, 'This is the gift of so-and-so to you.'” ” ("The Soul journey after death" an abridgement of Ibn al-Qayyim's kitabar-ruh.)
Amr bin Dinar (rahimahullah) said “The sister of one of the men of Medina died and he buried her. When he came back from the burial, he remembered that he had left something in the grave. He asked one of his companions to help him. His companion related that they had dug up the grave and found what they were looking for. Then the man said, "Let us dig further and find out what has happened to my sister." He lifted up one of the stones covering the burial cavity and found the grave filled with fire. He replaced it and filled in the grave again. Then he returned to his mother and asked, "What was my sister really like?" She replied, "Why do you ask about her when she is dead?" He said, "Tell me." She said,
"She used to delay the prayer and she also used to go to our neighbours' doors, put her ear to them, and then tell other people what they said." ("The Soul journey after death" an abridgement of Ibn al-Qayyim's kitabar-ruh.)
One of the early Muslims said,
"We passed by a watering-place on the way to Basra. We heard the braying of a donkey and asked the people there what the braying was. They replied that it was one of the men who used to be with them whose mother had asked him for something and he had told her to bray like a donkey. Since his death, this braying had been heard every night from his grave.” ("The Soul journey after death" an abridgement of Ibn al-Qayyim's kitabar-ruh.)
The torment in the grave will vary according to the sins committed by the person in this world, whether he was a disbeliever or a disobedient Muslim. There are authentic narrations which describe this torment for the people who commit these sins. For example:
1 - Being struck with an iron hammer.
It was narrated from Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“When a person is placed in his grave and his companions leave him, and he can no longer hear the sound of their sandals (footsteps), two angels come to him and make him sit up, and they ask him, ‘What did you say about this man Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)?’ He says, ‘I bear witness that he is the slave of Allaah and His Messenger.’ It is said, ‘Look at your place in Hell which Allaah has replaced for you with a place in Paradise.’” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “And he sees them both. But as for the kaafir or hypocrite, he says, ‘I do not know, I used to say what the people said.’ It is said, ‘You did not know and you did not follow those who knew.’ Then he is struck a blow with an iron hammer between his ears and he screams a scream which everything around him can hear apart from the two races (of mankind and the jinn).” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1222.)
2 -7: Furnishings from Hell are prepared for him; he is clothed with fire; a door to Hell is opened for him; his grave is made narrow for him; he is struck with a great hammer which, if a mountain were to be struck with it, it would turn to dust; and he is given the tidings of torment in the Hereafter. Hence he will wish that the hour would never come.
Ahmad (17803) and Abu Dawood (4753) narrated that al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib said:
"We went out with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for the funeral of a man from among the Ansaar. We came to the grave and when (the deceased) was placed in the lahd, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sat down and we sat around him, as if there were birds on our heads (i.e. quiet and still). In his hand he had a stick with which he was scratching the ground. Then he raised his head and said, “Seek refuge with Allaah from the torment of the grave,” two or three times. Then he mentioned the soul of the believer and how he is blessed in his grave. Then he said: “But when the disbelieving slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with black faces, bringing sackcloth, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and he says, ‘O evil soul, come forth to the wrath of Allaah and His anger.’ Then his soul disperses inside his body, then comes out cutting the veins and nerves, like a skewer passing through wet wool. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in that sackcloth, and there comes from it a stench like the foulest stench of a dead body on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this evil soul?’ and they say, ‘It is so and so, the son of so and so, calling him by the worst names by which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They ask for it to be opened to them and it is not opened.” Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited (interpretation of the meaning):
“For them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle.” [al-A’raaf, 7:40]
He said: “Then Allaah says, ‘Record the book of My slave in Sijjeen in the lowest earth, and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to it I will return them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So his soul is cast down.” Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited the verse (interpretation of the meaning):
“And whoever assigns partners to Allaah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place.” [al-Hajj, 22:31]
He said: “Then his soul is returned to his body, and there come to him two angels who make him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘Prepare for him a bed from Hell and clothe him from Hell, and open for him a gate to Hell.’ Then there comes to him some of its heat and hot winds, and his grave is constricted and compresses him until his ribs interlock. Then there comes to him a man with an ugly face and ugly clothes, and a foul stench, who says, ‘Receive the bad news, this is the day that you were promised.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which forebodes evil.’ He says, ‘I am your evil deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, do not let the Hour come, do not let the Hour come.’” (This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Ahkaam al-Janaa’iz, p. 156)
8 - Being swallowed up by the earth.
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Whilst a man was dragging his lower garment out of pride, the earth swallowed him up and he will continue sinking into the earth until the Day of Resurrection.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5345; Muslim, 3894)
9- The edge of the mouth being torn to the back of the head.
10- The head being smashed with a rock.
11- Being burnt in a tannoor oven
12- Swimming in a river of blood whilst being pelted with stones.

Allah may delay the penalty of oppression but He will never ignore it."
"(Respite will be granted) until, when the messengers give up hope (of their people) and (come to) think that they were treated as liars, there reaches them Our help, and those whom We will are delivered into safety. But never will be warded off our punishment from those who are in sin." (Yusuf, 12/110)
"Mocked were (many) messengers before thee: but I granted respite to the unbelievers, and finally I punished them: Then how (terrible) was my requital." (ar-Ra'd, 13/32)
"Let not those grieve thee who rush headlong into Unbelief: Not the least harm will they do to Allah: Allah´s plan is that He will give them no portion in the Hereafter, but a severe punishment. Those who purchase Unbelief at the price of faith,- not the least harm will they do to Allah, but they will have a grievous punishment. Let not the Unbelievers think that our respite to them is good for themselves: We grant them respite that they may grow in their iniquity: But they will have a shameful punishment." (Aal-i Imran, 3/176-178)
From this viewpoint, there is more than one wisdom behind giving respite to unbelievers. That is one of them.
The sins committed by unbelievers and oppressors are big; therefore, the misfortunes in this world are not enough for their penalty and their penalty is left to the hereafter. Even in this world, the penalty for minor crimes is given in small courts but the penalty for major crimes is given in big courts.
The penalty of a person who wrongs millions of people in this world will definitely not be given in this world. Only Hell can be fair penalty for their crimes.

We just call him a different name . Such as Jehovah , Yahweh, Allah, or even simply “ the Lord”. I hope I answered your question properly.

Many people believe in the same One Almighty Creator and call Him with different names but majority of them associate partner with the Almighty Creator.
      For Instance,
One can't call someone else as a King or tell the King that you are a King and at the same time think so and so statue, image, sculpture, a pious person or a Prophet is also a King along with you.
Such idea or a statement will be rejected by the Real King and He will be angry and a person who claimed so will either be punished or deported from that Kingdom.
Similarly, we have to follow the Real King that is the Almighty Creator without doing shirk (associating partners with the Almighty Creator) and this is important for our salvation.
However, Many people doing all kinds of Shirk, but despite all of this, Allah Almighty is not punishing them in this world because Allah (The Almighty Creator) has given them Freewill and it is a test from Allah.
      Hope you understand it now.
      Allah knows the best.
May Allah bless you with all the benefits of this world and hereafter. Aameen

I pray that you will know the true God Jesus Christ king of kings lord of lords . He came to set the captives free and give eternal life to those who believe in Him. He laid down his life on the cross to pay for our sins . Jesus loves you so much . Call upon His name ask Him to reveal his love to you today . I was lost but now I’m found . I am my beloveds and he is mine . No sweeter name than the name of Jesus .❤️

And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff,"1 and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. Surah Al-Isra Verse 23
And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination. Surah Hud Verse 14
