Whenever I’m having a particularly bad day, I stop and ask myself “what self care things I’ve done for myself”. Usually it’s none, and I decide to take a quick walk around the block or sit with a cup of coffee and “reset” myself. It really helps. I LOVE the idea of “protecting the asset”.

Like Kenny Riders said, you got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away, know when to run.

I use 1000 reminders on my phone. I make lists. I practice saying no. I make things I. The crockpot. I have simplified our dinners. I’m simplifying our possessions so they take less time to sort out.
    Thank you for your videos.

This was so helpful and encouraging! I definitely think I abandoned myself for the first four weeks of my baby’s life. I am 6 weeks post partum and I just realized like last week that I had created all these routines with the baby and absolutely none of them included taking care of myself in pretty much any way. Sure I would find time to brush my teeth at some point in the day but it didn’t feel like i was prioritizing even 15 minutes in the morning to make sure i could shower, get dressed , and grab a granola bar at least. I am now changing the way I view my routines for the baby and making them into “our” routines that prioritize “our” needs and we do them all together. It’s still hard as a single mom caring for a newborn and myself but I realized I can’t abandon myself anymore and expect to be able to show up for those I love. Thanks again for this video !

I think most moms abandon themselves during those years of heavy parenting and child rearing. I raised kids for 31 years and I've finally given myself permission to do some things I want to do. I love the phrase "protecting the asset". ❤

Hi Lydia, I love this video. I love that “No” is a full sentence. If you want to say, “No thank you” that works too. The people who matter won’t mind and the ones who do, don’t matter. Boundaries are one of the best things we as mothers can exercise for our children, and showing them rather than telling them is best. I want my children to know what healthy boundaries look like and not be afraid to set them. You’re doing awesome!!! Thank you ✌🏽💕😊

I love all of this and I appreciate what you said about seasons. My daughter as i said before has a rare developmental disorder, she is non-verbal and cannot walk right now. She is 5 years old and it is such a struggle at times because I know she understands so much but we don't know what she needs all the time, it is a guessing game. Then you add in fighting insurance and other things for what she needs. Plus I have 3 other children who I homeschool and need me too. Along with running a business and personal brand. It is Seriously HARD. Literally just wiped out an entire week from overwhelm and crying from being drained and sad about our situation. (which I know comes and goes. can't help it.) But a big tip I have to remind myself is to give myself grace to just be. whatever that looks like and not apologize for things not being done. We only have so much capacity. Thank you for saying all of this. I feel seen every time I watch your videos.

Regional Center is another avenue that you can explore to address and delays due to a developmental disorder . They can provide evaluations to address needs for services once diagnosis is obtained. If your child qualifies then services can be provided. Wishing you strength during this time.

This is so good. I love every bit of it. I do grace planning also, focus on the week and overall items or appointments between client work, homeschooling, my 5 year old’s therapies or working with her ( she cannot walk or talk. A lot of carrying around. I also decided to focus more on me and I dedicate Mondays as my planning and get myself together days. I protect that as much as possible. And I make a space in the house that’s my “she-shed” and home office. This has been critical for my sanity.

Lately I had some procrastination situation at work. I work from home but I am fully employed by a company. And I have got a huge task to do, for which was approved 70h to be done. I was scared to even start it because it seemed like something I could not start dealing with. And then I just sat down, gave myself 4 uninterrupted hours to just start activity. And in that 4 hours I did at least 60% of the complete task. I am expert in that field. I know how to do it. Sometimes I just need to push myself to start.
And I need to find time to work uninterrupted.
Note: I have a toddler who goes to childcare.
