Bart Starr one of the most cerebral underrated QBs of all time. A master of 3rd down play calling, and very accurate passer.
The only QB to win three consecutive NFL Championships - 1965, 1966, and 1967.

As12 year-old kids my buddy and I rode our bikes from Windsor Hills all the way down to the Coliseum because the game was not available on television in LA. We got there after kick off and paid one dollar each to watch the game. We had bad seats but the ushers had us move to the north side of the stadium so the crowd would look bigger on TV and in the films. I wish I'd kept that ticket.
Sat on the family room floor in KC watching this game with my family and staring at the TV in disbelief at what the Pack was doing to my beloved Chiefs. Painful then, painful now! Go Chiefs!

My favorite part is when the Packers are laughing at that blowhard "Hammer" Williamson as they were carrying him off the field after being knocked out. Priceless.

333CLEAR Yeah, according to Bart Starr, he came in the front door of the hotel that the Packers were staying at around 6:30 AM. Starr was already up and reading a newspaper in the hotel lobby.

The Bills had been AFL Champions in 1965 and 1966 but were on the decline when the Chiefs beat them in the AFL Championship in 1967 (losing 31-7). If the Super Bowl had been in 1966 the Bills would have been there (and probably gotten "hammered" anyway)
This game was covered by both NBC and CBS at the same time--the late Frank Gifford worked for CBS at this time and was interviewing Vince Lombardi on the sidelines and noticed that Lombardi was physically "shaking" as he was incredibly nervous---it seems the NFL was putting a great deal of pressure on him to defeat the Chiefs and not only defeat them but to humiliate them

LOST IN SPACE episode showed two jetpack pilots stunting for stars Guy Williams and Mark Goddard. That was in '64 or '65 in black and white. Remember, if you watched it before it became so silly in color with Human-sized&filled costumes= space veggies/carrots, ROFL, PENNY played by a girl I had a crush on as a teenager, ANGELA CARTWRIGHT, and her space chimp "Debbie", were missing. By the way as a guy in my 60's, I now have a crush on MARTA KRISTEN who played JUDY, lol..She still looks great in her 70's.

The Chiefs crossed the 50 4 times in the first half to the Packers 2,winning the total yardage battle.The Packers didn't dare blitz until Garrett was out of the game.Still,the Chiefs had too many weak spots.They fixed them 3 years later.

I've read that the Chiefs were so scared of the Packers some of them were throwing up before the game in the locker room. Don't know if its true, but this was unique in that it was the first AFL-NFL game and it was widely believed the NFL was vastly superior. The Chiefs went into this literally not knowing if they could compete. Today all of the NFL teams are so close in ability rarely is any team intimidated by any other team. It turned the AFL could compete but many of their players didn't know it at the time. By Super Bowl 4 against Minnesota the Chiefs were ready.
Best companion to this is The Lost Treasures episode of how the film was shot and how the coverage was erased of the broadcast. It also had footage of the locker rooms. Used to run on Espn, NFLN and on Espn Classic.
P.S. It was re-uploaded a month ago. Whole show is on the early Super Bowls.

Max McGee (13:36) used some of his Super Bowl winning money to invest in a Mexican restaurant start-up, Chi-Chi's-it ultimately made him a fortune when it was sold--sadly he passed away in 2007 in a fall from the roof of his home while clearing leaves
He should have hired a Mexican day laborer to clean his gutters, would have saved his life. 10 bucks an hour cash, those guys are jack of all trades.
This game was played about six weeks prior to my 13th birthday, but I recall watching it.
I liked the Kansas City Chiefs for 10 years and still going strong

There actually was no game called "Super Bowl I" or "Super Bowl II" when they were played, the name was applied for the first time to SB III. The first two were called the AFL-NFL Championship. Had they started a year earlier, Green Bay could have had three straight wins.
I remember this game well I lived about 20 miles from the Coliseum and could have attended, but I thought that the $25 price for a ticket was ridiculous. Lol.
Reg tix were $6. You blew it nits.
And it was blacked out on local tv because they didn't sell all the tickets.
I was only 7 watching with my dad but it's still the best Super bowl out of all of them & the Packers came back the next year to win again. Ah if the game were still this much fun i would still watch. It isn't....

Hamilton"Tex" Maule of Sports Illustrated wrote the script and he was an NFL GUY, THROUGH AND THRU, and a personal friend of Rozelle's, and a despiser of the AFL.
He made the AFL sound like a clownshow- "This of course, is a weakness"., etc..

@@gregford2103, I would say so. The Bears lost to KC 66-24 IN PRESEASON THE NEXT SEASON. Overall, the AFL beat the NFL in 67-69's preseason series, including the first game in '67 in Denver, when the Lions lost 13-10 after ALEX KARRAS said he would walk home if the Lions lost.

In '69, after the NYJets beat the Colts in Supe III, the JETS BEAT THEIR RIVALS THE NY GIANTS, 37-13 at YALE U. IN CONNECTICUT. All of those games were taken very seriously even though they were just preseason games.
Look how empty those stands were. Fooseball has really come a long way since then.

In longer views of the game you can tell Green Bay kept plays away from Fred Williamson basically the entire game. He came to deliberately hurt players. Until he knocked himself out later. He was clearly a factor.

This game's highlights had some of the initial Sam Spence music that became part of NFL Films. Old marching band music was to be replaced by jazz/rock fushion and jazz influenced modern classical.

I don't know who the women are they showed in the crowd, but I recognized Danny Thomas, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, and The Rifleman (Chuck Conners).
