    2014 will forever be my favourite. Coming from last..twice. All the technology available could not give Jamie one more litre. Chaz slowly closing the gap and just had to push him to use fuel. At the top of Conrod, Chaz knew he had him. Kept his composure and enjoyed the moment.

    It's always an epic 1000 when 161 laps comes down to the final corner of the last lap, and there's multiple cars still battling it out.

    Name a better sight than 2 drivers in a Holden and a Ford driving the wheels off their car right up against the wall on the last lap over the top of the mountain as the sun goes down with the fans on their feet going nuts.

      I am so glad they showed such longevity and commitment to our sport too, you couldn't say they were only here for a couple of titles or a driver that's for sure.

      @@duncancameron5468 Opel is owned by Stellantis now. The major shareholder is the Italian Agnelli family, known from the Fiat company. The Peugeot family, the Chinese Dongfeng, and the French government are also shareholders. Not GM anymore, so Holden cannot buy the body of the Insignia from Opel anymore. But Vauxhall of UK is still owned by GM. So the present Insignia body is delivered by Vauxhall. Next year it will be the Chevrolet Camaro. So the battle between GM and Ford will remain.

    I know that it was "sort-of" staged, but the Moffat/Bond finish should have ranked somewhere in the top-10. Most of the close-finishes were as a result of a safety-car, which grouped the leaders, allowing for a final sprint to the end. I think the big Fords were before safety-cars created the end-sprint.

    • @hicksi53
      @hicksi53 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@didgereemedia194 From memory, something like 3 laps. Modern racers have become far more reliable, but that doesn't take from the fact that without safety-car intervention, most races would be won by the length of Conrod.
