It really is sad. The life of concubines was terrible for MOST all over the world. The ottoman empire, Saudi Arabia, various parts of Africa. I mean, it's a kind of sl⛓ avery. And although their lives were luxurious, it was still a prison. A cage made out of gold, is still a cage.
What do you expect women at the time to do?? Go research antartica or Pluto?? In the past unless you are a woman born from a matrilineal society or some democratic Tribal society,you are screwed big time,and if you are considered good looking woman you are cursed.

I had always wondered what happened to the concubines who lived after the emperors death. There are so many unnoticed concubines in the harem, if it isn't possible to treat all of them well and if you don't even like them then what is the point of having so many concubines?

No every harem lady entered the court solely because the emperor fancied them. Also, any of them could have fallen out of favour later on.
I thought they followed the emperor to the afterlife. They were killed in this tomb. I was wrong.
