    Thank you very much, Sensei Satoshi and Professor Bernardo! I am a sandan in judo, who is learning jiu jitsu -- I'm 42 -- and teaching judo to jiu jitsuka. So much fun. The deeper you get, the sillier all the arbitrary rule sets seem to be. Judo and jiu jitsu are like two parts of the same puzzle! This ouchi gari into taiotoshi is great. There is no good reason not to dig in hard with an ouchi gari from the get go. Most people do it once and stop after their opponent posts. Consider hitting it 2 or even 3 times after each post, just driving with aggressive force. If and when their posted leg finally stops, and they are leaning with everything they have back into you, use that kuzushi (pull to off-balance) to get into the taiotoshi. The biggest mistake I see jiu jitsuka, and others who are starting judo make, is that they see the form, but they arrange their body inside of their opponents body, almost coming back into them. Secret: most all forward facing thows require a big, high, fast pull of the arm sleeve, to get the opponent on his/her heels, to then assume the form, with forward facing, but largely straight posture. The second biggest mistake people often make, is they treat taiotoshi like a hip throw, coming in too deep. Taotoshi is classified as te-waza (hand technique), but the extended leg should always end with the throwers foot, just on the outside of the thowee's ankle. Most people come in too deep, and literally block themselves from doing the throw, because their leg isn't trapping anything. Add a slight bend and pop up at just the right moment for added effect. Overall, this is a great combination -- especially if you have longer legs, but not exclusively. Thanks again! - Danny

    • @dreadinside654
      @dreadinside654 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, the purpose of the extending the leg is to trip the opponent's leg with you pull him/her towards you?

      It's hard for a BJJ player to stop or take your back, what he didn't which we train in Judo is by the time you reliazed you we thrown will hit the JiJi Gatame, arm lock, it's super fast. We usually throw that with the under hook and you really hit the mat hard

      cherif legraf i agree 100% the judo stance is there for a reason but if you are a low level bjj guy trying to make this throw work. And your opponents aren’t playing that game then 🤷‍♂️
      Point im making is i feel like alot of this content doesn’t translate directly across and needs to take into account the bjj stance, wrestling defence, guard pulls etc
      The majority of bjj opponents you face will not be looking stand straight and trade throws in a judo stance, and if they do then maybe you are playing to their strengths.

    It's amazing how much disrespect some of you ju jitsu people on here display but yet most of you wouldn't last 30 seconds Judoka and Olympic and World Champion and ifbypu knew your history you'd know that without Judo you would have never known what grappling is, show some respect

    “One of the best ever”😂😂 come on…there are tons of judokas with way more credentials than Ishii…still a super high level judoka but definitely not a “legend” or “ best ever”

    I don't care who the guy is. That's BJJ dojo and he should wear the white belt.

    I'm gonna get the popcorn.

      Satoshi Ishii is a black belt in BJJ. But he’s showing judo here so he elected to wear his judo rank. If he was showing BJJ then I’m sure he would wear his jiujitsu rank(black belt)

      @@holdenmuganda97 I was just trying to pull the joke on people who don't recognise judo. I am aware that everything what's in BJJ also exists in (Kodokan) judo, but unfortunatelly not eveything from judo is practiced in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Does that make sense? From what you've said I have a conclusion that actually Bernardo should wear a white judo belt in this Judo tutorial ;) Respect to both teachers of course.
